I actually think I am going to stay out of it. I don't have experience with schools yet beyond my own from when I was a student. I was out alot in HS but it was all excused...college visits, choir trips, Academic Decathalon trips, speech and debate tournaments, things like that.

And no I was not an overachiever in HS. I barely made it out of there with a 3.0. But I did get a 26 on my ACT.

DS starts Pre_K in Sept and I am pulling him out for 5 days in October, maybe I should go post and see what they say to that...My god..Pre_K....How will he ever make up those days of colors and shapes

I should post that I took DD in second grade out for 4 days over Thanksgiving. I also asked her teacher for her homework before the break. So we would have twice as much time to do it.

Hello Lovely LOSERS. Just sitting here eating Malt Balls and catching up on all that's been said. We have a Black Lab who we raised as a puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and then we got to keep him when he flunked out of guide dog training. We think he was smart enough to flunk on purpose, cause he sure does have an easy life with us.

I say you put him in tutoring right now. You can never start too early.

Oh for the love of all things holy. I can't even read half of that thread (it's too long winded with some people)

I don't think that when #1DS missed a day of school 2 yrs. ago because we were coming home from vacation (looks like the same situation as the OP) it was consider unexcused, but that could have been cause I explained that DH had just returned from Iraq & it was his leave time. But here they understand about military families & the parent can only take vacation time at certain times.

That is what color my girl is. She is really smart. I bet she could have been a guide dog too. She loves the kids. She is 12 years old and still fetches like she is a pup. She is smart enough to know to put the ball in my hand otherwise I won't throw it for her.
