The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

WAIT! Did you just link to Fox News :scared1:!

I think that the idea is a good one. It gives the states another chance to be counted and it gets the DNC off the hook for being jerks. I've said it once and I'll say it again ... Iowa and New Hampshire can go stuff it. We should have a Super Tuesday when EVERYONE votes and those who want to be the "First in the Nation" can be excluded.

I kind of think this $5M infusion is a ploy to keep her expectations low. It's all about the spin as we saw last night by both camps!

I can't believe for a second she's short on cash after raising something like $100+M so far.

I gave Obama $100 last night and tonight as well - I need to stay away from the wine. :lmao:

Yeah he keeps saying he's not but his actions are saying otherwise. I think the media is saying if Hillary is the nominee, he'll jump in, or maybe that was just speculation.

I think both campaigns are now rolling in dough. The contest is too tight. Both sides can taste that nomination and that tends to loosen pocket books. Of course wine helps too.

No one knows what Bloomberg is going to do. I do not believe anything until he says he's running. Everything else is speculation.

Caucuses are horrible! I would hate to vote like that. Give me my own private booth!

And both states have never held one before - how they heck do they organize that in a fair way?

That whole DNC decision - its ugly!

Ugly but fair! I'm the one who opened the can of worms here about counting or not counting the votes/delegates in FL and MI. I would be peeved if my vote didn't count, too. I'm an Obama fan for sure but if he'd 'won' in either state and were trying to make the delegates count NOW, I'd be unhappy. The DNC screwed this up. Now they have to fix it and if fair caucuses are held in Michigan and Florida then I'll be happy with the outcome. But something has to be done to make it fair. Clinton was the ONLY person who kept her name on the Democratic ballot in Michigan. Now she wants the delegates to count AND THAT'S NOT FAIR! Let's do this right and the winner will have the backing of a lot more people.

I think I finally "met" a person more suspicious of people's motives than me!

Don't forget - Hillary's main groups are: blue collar workers, seniors, single women, latinos - not the bastion of high income earners there!

Obama is attracting more college educated people - who probably have higher earnings.........

See my only problem with that is that it hurts the "lesser known" candidates. If there was a national primary this year, I think we'd see that Hillary or Rudy would have won overwhelmingly because the candidate doesn't have the opportunity to hold intimate town halls, or meet and greets, for a few months before a smaller state's "first in the nation" race.

The thing that gets me about health care is that without mandates we'll still have people using emergency rooms for their regular health care. People without insurance often go to the emergency room for minor health care. When they don't pay, the costs get spread to us. If they're insured we won't be footing the bill for an emergency room visit for an earache.

I'm feeling like I came out of lurk mode and stirred up a hive of bees. I didn't mean to cause a big stir among a friendly thread. Seems when I expressed my feelings and asked questions, some of you took offense and got defensive. I'll say it again....I don't hate Obama. I'll vote for him in Novemeber if he's the candidate. I think more than ever we Democrats need to join hands and sing Kumbaya (just kidding!) I just had some questions/issues that I wanted to discuss. It seems that was perceived to be an attack or something. I think maybe I should disappear again. :confused3

IHowever, the idea of a mandated government run healthcare system just screams socialism to me. Also, I don't think her plan has any chance in hell of passing.

do you have any kids...if yes you WILL be mandated till they are 25...mandated is mandated...you keep stating that how much you hate that but the ine you are in full fleg support for is going to mandate you...:confused3

so scream socialism with Obama aslo not just Hillary.

And I cant unserstand how someone would vote Rep over Hillary mostly since Hillary and Obama are so close to the same issues...and the Rep are soooooo far to the right on theres :confused3

could you please expalin that to me? cause I jsut cant see it even if you dont like Hillary(and thats okay) are you voying the issues or likeability or are you more a moderate?

Wuss. I think caucuses are really pretty cool. I would LOVE to vote in a caucus. I have no problem declaring my vote in a public manner.

I'll give you Michigan - but Florida was much much different. Those million voters who went to the polls knew what they were doing at the time.

Now you're asking them to re-vote - and oh by the way - the folks that voted for Edwards - you get to choose again ...........

Its just not right..........

I don't know what the right answer is either.......

Yeah, I think both sides have a ton of cash ready to unload in TV ads, mailings, paid staff in the next states, etc.

ITA.

Ha! Well I just don't think she has a shortage of cash when she had something like $40M on hand before Super Tuesday even with spending $12 M of that in ads for February 5th.

You found me out! LOL.

I'm from Jersey - you don't get to know my stinkin' vote unless I WANT to tell you it! :rotfl:

That's BS. They don't have intimate "town halls" and "meet and greets" in MY state. Iowa and New Hampshire had had their collective butts kissed for too long.

Don't disappear - I enjoy reading your posts (especially since we share the same candidate! ;) )

Seriously - we liberals tend to be very passionate in our beliefs.

That said - I still think some of the Obama supporters on the net go way over the line when they support their candidate...... So much so - if he makes it to the general - I am going to have to think long and hard about supporting him.......

The odd's are in the party's favor - as I have NEVER voted Republican - but I could stay home ..........

Time will tell!

But they do in IA and NH - it allows a candidate who doesn't have the resources to do a 50 state campaign off the bat, a chance to have their message heard.

I feel like a national primary might be more of a beauty contest.

I'd rather a regional primary day or something like that and every 4 years, the states who vote are switched up.

Lots of people seem to think that PA will be a deciding vote...maybe in the end it will come down to florida. they did mention holding off as not to influance other primaries...

That would make Florida happy if thee couls get a re -due and by than many may have re changed there minds one way or another :confused3

It's interesting how those who say they have a problem voting for Hillary get chewed up on here but you hold the same feeling somewhat.

I could vote for Hillary who knows, but I'll have to be really convinced to do so.

There is something about Hillary that rubs me the wrong way - I don't think she's honest (and what politician is, but I believe Obama is), I don't think she has convictions, I don't think she particularly has good judgment, she is too divisive to try to bring a nation together after Bush, and to be honest, I'm sick of the Bush/Clinton dynasties.

OK, I get it, you don't trust her, but who would you vote for if she won the nomination?

I have reservations about Obama. I think he's extremely naive and will get his head handed to him in Washington. I also thing a lot of his idealism just won't transfer well into actual legislation. However, if he gets the nomination I will vote for him. The alternatives are just too horrible to contemplate. It really makes me wonder why so many Obama supporters do not seem to be able to say the same thing.

but crap, I was up til 2 am last night with the returns and I need some sleep! Interesting debate tonight - I don't think anyone attacked anyone personally so let's keep it like that. :)

Did I mention I hate being an accountant this time of year? :rolleyes1

Yes, I would be happy with that. As long as I have a chance at having the candidates pay attention to ME. I am just sick and tired of Iowa and New Hampshire getting so much attention.
