I must confess, I kind of did a bad thing at my Aunt's Memorial Service today....
My Great-Aunt's late husband was a minister and they pastored in several states and also traveled across America and Prince Edward Island. I get a lot of my oddball sense of humor from her. She was sort of a different pastor's wife as she loved to joke, tease and laugh.... anyways, when my Mom, Dad, and I went in the Church and sat in the pew, one of my Aunt's old-lady friends from one of the Churches they pastored at, leaned over me and asked my Mom why she [my Mom] hadn't talked my Aunt out of being cremated as she "wanted to see her body"...... My Mom smiled and said that she was probably the one who talked my Aunt INTO being cremated, as that is what all of us want. The old lady was scandilized and couldn't believe we said that.
That made me a little mad - so with a great big smile on my face, I turned to her and said, "Actually I might not get cremated, I'm thinking of having my body placed up in the trees and letting the birds pick my bones." She gasped and didn't look my way the rest of the service!
