The Last to Post-2nd Edition - Part 3

about 11, I finished with that part where we ate at the Island Buffet in the Flamingo.

After we got in the car we went out to Hoover Dam. So many dam jokes would commence. I had no idea where I was going, just aimed Southeast. I hadn't done the drive from Vegas in a while and the city had expanded like crazy. Saw our first of 3 rollovers on the side of the rode up the sidehill. But in not a long time made it out to the dam. Dam it was nice. Dam was hot too.

Also driving the other way was interesting, the new bridge was open and I noticed I missed the turn off to the dam. So we held on and went over to Arizona to officially cross the bridge. This was my first time seeing the bridge complete. Last trip to the dam the arcs were almost complete. Problem with driving over the bridge was the wall were too high so you could not see sideways. But at the least one friend got a new experience, Arizona, which upon entrance we quickly exited.

Then back to the dam access road. We stopped at a nice pull out with a paved trail to the bridge. You can walk along the north edge, dam side of the bridge. They have some historical displays along the walk, which climbs about 50 feet. Awesome walk when it's 110F. But the bridge was windy, many hats blown down into the canyon. Also with a fear of heights I kept against the wall not the rail. Who know what it looks like strait down.

Back in the car made our way down to the dam. Parked in the dam parking structure, quiet day so in the shade. They asked if we had a pet in the car as we paid. There must be some stupid dam people killing their pets while taking a dam walk. On the exit I did a huge burnout. The dam garage floor is super slippery.

We went down into the visitor center and something happened. BTW the visitor center is pretty much pay to see. You go through dam security. The scanner guy looked at my visor. I've worn this visor for several years, or at least on just like it. He warned me I was in UNLV county. Shocked this is the first time anyone has ever reconized the symbol on it. A bucking horse for the Wyoming Cowboys, or Pokes as I call them. It was like dam Disney Magic.

So we did the short tour, which I had done before but my friends had not. First they take a Photopass picture. Then we watched the old movie. It has English subtitles, which cause me to read the subtitles and not focus on the film. Then the sort you out into two queues. One for the long dam tour, one for us on the dam short tour. So we got grouped up and waited for our turn down the elevator.

We went down with a nice dam guide. She said tons of dam jokes and answered a lot of dam questions. Then in a tunnel at the bottom were given to a new dam guide. She was enthusiastic for sure. Talked fast and a in a very varied tone with so much enthusiasm. Not quite dam crazy, but a little over the top. So learned about how the dam worked. Then back to the elevators. Went down to the dam turbine room. Learned some dam turbine facts. Took terrible dam picture in that room. Then back to the elevators where we were met by the nice dam guide again. I asked if there were any dam dam joke questions before Vegas Vacation, and she had no idea. Before that movie came out I don't remember any dam jokes on the dam tours.

Back up the elevator they let you into a museum. It's really nice. You can also go up to the dam observation deck on the roof, which we did after the dam museum. Took some pictures up on the deck, and then out the gates to walk on the dam. Took mor dam pictures. While in the museum I was drinking water like I had just reached an oasis. On the way back to the dam parking garage from the dam is a drinking fountain. Stayed there for a little bit. The water was almost hot but it was wet.

Then back in the car it was about 3. After boulder went South on US93, one friend wanted to take pictures in the middle of the desert like in the Hang Over. But a few miles down wasn't going to work great. You could always see something in the wide view and we weren't too interested in going further.

So back to LV went pretty good a little jammed up on I-15, but not quite the 5pm traffic. I think we just beat that. So we went to Ross. Not a place I wanted to spend time, but since I brought nicer shirts they wanted some too. And the Ross there is huge, well there two we went to the one on Sahara(I think). So it's nice to see compared to the tiny one near me. Got a shirt and some big shoes for DS.

Then back to the room we decided to do dinner right away, instead of waiting until later.

Sounds like that dam dam has changed a lot since I last saw it aroudn 1986! :rotfl2: Never took the tour, but was engaged to a guy whose brother was a slot mechanic that lived in Boulder. We would always stay at the Gold Strike where he worked, but heard some other casino took that place over later.

We're going there for Christmas since it's our year to be abandoned by my family and her father is now dead. Last abandonment Christmas we took him to the Prospector for Christmas Dinner and he gave the us the gift of death two days later! :rotfl: A bit belated, but we accepted it! :lmao:

Perhaps I will suggest we do some history and see the dam instead of just gluttony, gambling and shopping. I mean it is the Christmas season, we should probably do something unheathen. On the other hand. I REALLY want a Souffle from Andre's. That was one of the best meals I've had in my life. Can't wait to do that again! :rotfl2:

Diets, I need to remind myself its a lifestyle change. Dam!

Ross store? I dont shop for Dam clothes, look at the money I just saved. Dam thats great.

I wont visit that Dam Dam I dont like heights. I stay against walls and have panic attacks and never tell anyone. Dam I need to speak up.:rotfl2:

Dam golf costs so much, So there is no Dam money for a expensive dinner.:rolleyes1

What I ate today, a diet dr pepper and a small whopper. I had made pork chops in the crockpot and then we had an appt at 6 and had to make stops on the way home. I hate eating like that. I just ate a spoonful of PB and a little milk to get some protien.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK seriously., I have to go to bed, if I'm going to get up and ready for this Expo thing tomorrow!

Have a dam good trip Alison. BTW - I made a trip out to the post office today. Your pictures are in the mail. I'd be curious to see when they arrive.

It had to do with microwaves and that we bought our "travel" microwave for the trip we are going on tomorrow. I really don't want to pack it up, but one thing we are planning on having requires heating. I'm sure there will be others, but I didn't know I would be on this "diet" last Black Friday when we bought it.

Tonight I wholly blew the det. We went to a mixer for the Long Beach Gay Chamber of Commerce. It would have been fine, they served wonderful lo cal options, just not enough. We ended up going to a Japanese restaurant and ordered six appetizers! :scared1: :rotfl2: Tuna sushi (for me), fried wontons, sunomono with crab, a tempura shrimp roll (coated in shrimp, avocado and eel sauce) teriyaki chicken and edamame. Needless to say with some wine, this busted the diet. Good thing I had only eaten about 400 calories before the hor'douvres!

I've been pretty much more or less good with my diet. I haven't pigged out or gone the whole hog and completely caved in to craving sweetness yet. I'm nearly sticking with WW, just need to watch my portion sizes.

So will you be joining my Expo TR? Skiingfast has been there since post 3 or 4. Tomorrow night we have a DISmeet at my hotel. Convenient how I worked that one out. :rolleyes1:

And those Dam portion sizes

PIO how many calories are you eating, I know you follow points but what is the calorie count?

I'm not really sure about calorie count. It becomes a lot like hard work if I have to work out calorie count. :headache:

A mini pizza and potato wedges?? How many points is that?? ;)

Mini pizza...how large? A slice of pizza is usually about 4-6 points or so. Potato wedges are about 3.

No butter, we learned to cook it with very little oil so no greasy popcorn but still great flavor. The kernels come from north carolina

Now you've got me confused. I was sure that the fried 'kernel' was from Kentucky....or was that chicken?? :sad2:

The lady on the dinner thread tell her to check the class sizes in ca. If she thought 38 was high some here have 43. Its insane. Chicken is wait I am confused.

Mini....like a kids pizza...about a bread a butter plate??
I would argue smaller than a NY pizza slice :lmao:

I'm way over today... :lmao: Not that I'm really counting. After a few days of fruit and water I was happy to eat real food.
Boss took us out to lunch although despite being along the 'famous' King Street Wharf in Sydney and a lovely looking menu I wasn't impressed with their pork belly which was tough, dry and overcooked. (That's what I had.)
And even the people with the salmon and pizza weren't all that impressed. Steak I think was the most popular.

Dinner was a Costco mini pizza and wedges

Finished off with some Ben and Jerrys Icecream and tinned pie apples :rolleyes1

Asian class sizes are usually 50. But for the state that Glynis lives in, the class size is probably about 23 - 35. And it sounds like principal incompetence, which is probably what she's arc'ed up over. That thread is full of really nice polite ladies, with the occassional spice. They are all so supportive that sometimes I'm overwhelmed by how supportive they are. That's what I'm trying to learn on that thread.

Finished! No more points to count. No.point.at.all.
