The ‘Kruk Sisters Hit the World – Pretrip Information – Wasn’t I just in WDW?

Cast of Characters – I’ll be using the nicknames bestowed upon us by our mother, the woman responsible for the insanity, Pammy Mommy. We each have a song to go with our nicknames, and Pammy Mommy is more than happy to sing them and embarrass us at a moment’s notice, even though we are a long way away from being little kids. She has stated many, many times that raising three boys would have been easier than raising the three of us. She is probably right. Do boys fight over who got who’s socks? I don’t think so. We all survived and we like each other a lot more since we’re not sharing a bathroom.

Me – Ledeet or Ledeedo – 29, school teacher, middle child (this explains a lot), obsessed trip planner (someone has to be), and narrator of our family tale.

Gootzann or Duggadugga – 30 (will be celebrating b-day 31 after the trip has concluded, but we will be celebrating and embarrassing her throughout this trip), food service director extraordinaire(we work for our alma mater) , and mother to the only nephew and grandchild, Petes. Gootzann is the first-born (which also explains a lot).

Schmeb or Schmebbee – 23 – defining this sister’s occupations could be an occupation in itself, so let’s just say she’s working in a museum and also in a bar. She makes more money in the bar on any given weekend than I do in a week as a teacher. Who’s the dumb one here? Schmbee is the baby of our family and is treated that way to this day. I think Pammy Mommy finally stopped cutting her food, but I can’t be quite sure of this…

Petes, Petoes, Heimlich, Peanut, or Peanuttiest – 3 going on 25. Petes is the only son of Gootzann, and is, therefore, the only nephew and grandchild in the family. To say that the child is spoiled is an understatement. I was giving him presents while he was in the womb. He is also entirely too smart for his, and our, own good. Think I’m biased? Talk to the kid and you’ll find out for yourself. If you rode the bus last year to the All Stars with him he may have told you how his dogs were run down by a purple tractor trailer. He was only two then. His stories have gotten much better. When he finally gets to school his teachers will have Gootzann’s number on speed dial. He will undoubtedly be bored and get into some (ok, a lot) trouble.

Nonnie (aka dead Nonnie; please don’t be offended because Nonnie would have seen the humor in this nickname) is the person responsible for our early trips to the World. She took us there several times and instilled in us a love for most things Disney and also for restaurants where one could have a cocktail with lunch, preferable a daiquiri on the rocks. She was also the matriarch of the family, so the craziness (and other “nesses”) can be traced from her, to Pammy Mommy, and finally to us. DN would be pleased to see us traveling to the World together, as we have not been since 1991.

The idea of a ‘Kruk sisters trip to the World is not something that can just happen. Nothing can just happen with us. There has to be the idea, someone taking credit for the idea, fighting over who really came up with the idea, crying (after the fighting), and finally just getting on with it. To give credit where credit is due, Gootzann did have the idea for this trip. Originally she was thinking about taking Petes by herself. That idea quickly turned into an aunties vacation, too.
At first, I couldn’t go. DH and I had a trip to the shore planned for the second week in June, after that, I’d be teaching summer school. When friends with a rented beach house invited us to join them in the end of June, the window of opportunity was quickly flung open.
My conversation with DH went something like this:
“Would you mind if I went to Disney with Gootz and Petes?”
“How are you going to pay for this trip?”
“With my summer school money.”
“Don’t you want to take a break? We were just there
in October."
“Honey, this is Disney. I would live there if I could.”
“Ok.”
DH doesn’t share my enthusiasm for Disney, but he goes and has fun, despite the heat and humidity. As soon as our conversation was over, I was on the phone with Gootz and she was on her way to our house to make plans. I think the plane reservations were made in record time, and my obsessive planning could begin.

Next, our search for the perfect resort. Then another resort. Finally, the last resort. Will we ever find somewhere to stay? Will CRO ever let me make a reservation again, or will I have to invent a pseudonym when booking my trips to Disney?
