Well, they are paid for everyone they get on a tour. I was at the Disney Princess Marathon talking to the CM at the expo booth, who was a DVC Member and should have known the "details". I listened to his pitch and he specifically said points per night NEVER change. Now if that is not an outright misrepresentation of the truth, a blatant lie, I don't know what is. Very Disappointed.
I came down pretty hard against the salesman on another thread, but I think I side with the salesman here -- at least based on your account.
As I understand, the booth-guys are simply there to give cursory (yet accurate I agree) information and sign people up for a tour.
And I think the information presented here was reasonably accurate -- given that these booth-people do not have a whole bunch of time to spend explaining all the details to browsers.
Technically, the TOTAL points never do change. If you add up the total points for a given unit for a year -- that total will always stay the same. They are only shuffled around to adjust for shifting popularity of the different dates and weekdays. AND WHEN POINTS CHANGE IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THEY WILL WORK IN YOUR FAVOR AND NOT AGAINST YOU.
When most people ask about points changing, they are thinking about a gradual upward trend -- point inflation. That's what I was thinking when I asked. That definitely WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
The recent change , IMHO, occurred because the existing point disparity between weekdays and weekends was causing too many members to avoid weekends. So they changed the points to balance demand. They have done the same for various seasons. Rarely.
Again, the total points overall doesn't change.
