Good Morning Dawn

I happen to back track to show my daughter the post about you adventures in Typhoon Lagoon, Well she saw a picture of  Treyner:love: and she was like STOP WHO IS THAT! I said sorry, He's a little old for you he is a senior and besides he lives in MI. "But he is really cute mommmy" she said. "Yes, dear just don't get the keyboard wet while you drool" I said.

:rotfl2:

I would love to have your gift of writing. Your kids are beautiful and I like seeing pictures.
Wish i could join the party and meet y'all in December.
Vicki

Second....I am not sure I am a gifted writer or a gifted b'ser but I thank you none the less. The stories are all true and I need to write more soon...it's like a Dr. Phil therapy session withoutthe tab...

I wish you could come in Dec as well...any chance in hades that you could come??? What if you could stay for free and jsut spending $ and the cost of to and fro for you? I know some of us Body Board Babes are trying for that...

Treyner is actually a junior this year...but I agree...age difference is not fun...she is closer to Baylor...he is 12...does not sound as glamourous as 17...he is his brothers twin though at the same age...so tell her to think young knowing hope is on the horizon!!:lmao:
Baylor actually loves all the attention from the High School girls..they all kiss his cheek and tell him he is so cute and looks just like Treyner....he squirms away...acts like he hates it...and then I hear him on the phone to his hormonelly challenged fellow 6th grade boys...saying..
"yeah...I just got another kiss from Hanna (or whomever) and she is way hot.":rotfl2: :scared1:

Hi Dawn - I'm over from the peep thread. I don't mind pictures at all, in fact the more the meerier ;) At least now when you talk about your kids I know what they look like and they are all beautiful. You couldn't talk DD into getting lime green rubberbands for her braces, too bad.
Ya know...I do not think lime green has crossed her lips yet...maybe will have to check that color out...;)
I love the story of the short eating bum!

The other part to Heidi and her @ss...
is that when she was in 8th grade...she was home sick. ..her mom who is a nurse was home as well...and Heidi took a shower....felt a little dizzy...sat on the tub edge...

RIGHT ON A GLASS SOAP DISH!:scared1: :scared1:

She stood up...felt wet trickle down her leg...saw it was blood...and called for her mom...

Mom came rushing in to assess the damage...and fainted as she went to lift up Heidi's towel and her entire lower half of her right butt cheek stuck to the towell...

Heidi needed 175 interior stitches and over 100 exterior ones to sew her cheek back on...the dish had cut her right under the butt where it meets your leg..and then went up...

She had to stand in school for a month to wait for it to heal...because when she sat...it would stretch the stitches and kept ripping open...

Makes my rollerblading story seem like a walk in the park don't it!:worship:

ugg.........that story makes my bum hurt!

I thought it was bad when I was 12 and my mom had to pull a splinter the length of a toothpick out of my butt. I slid across the picnic table seat...ouch! Never again. I feel for this girl! Yikes! :scared1:

That sounds like when my cousin backed out tof the bathroom and got the dishwasher at the backs of her knees and she sat on a steak knife. We had really really bad jokes after that. Like at least she got the point, not to back out of the bathroom. I can't remember anymore than that but I do know there were a lot of them.

Okay...so I want to post a long story about my trip...but it will have to wait.

Treyner plays soccer. He is no joke..a phenominal player...got none of my athletic defeciencies (sp?) and more talent than God should have given 1 person. He excells in everything he tries...Gymnastics, hockey, baseball, dance, football, soccer, basketball etc...

Well over time...he has whittled down due to time constraints...soccer and football. He plays for a traveling team from another city soccer from Nov-August. And then Varsity Football for our town. Soccer and football are same season for Varsity.

Well he is a goalie for soccer...and very good...and up till now I knew he was good but I am his mom...and his team thinks he is phenominal...but teams are supportive...now though...he is being scouted by all these colleges for soccer already and I am freaking out.

He is talented in football as well...wide receiver and kicker/punter...he has made 60 yard field goals as a junior...

Both Varsity coaches want him...he can't play both unless he only kicks for football...he has always just chosen football...

Now...all these soccer coaches are encouraging him to play soccer for High School his senior year...saying he needs to be playing all year if he wants scholarship choices in college....yet football coaches already have shown him interest as well...but not as heavily now since it is not football season...those would be this fall...assuming he plays football his senior year...

They are saying he is a divison 1 soccer player/pro potential...

Yet Division 1 schools only give very few scholarships for soccer...the purpose is for playing time to go pro...he could play NAIA and get scholarships money easy...and then transfer to Division 1 after a few years...

I feel so overwhelmed I cannot begin to tell you...I do not know how to point him or what to help him with...for the first time as a mother I cannot fix this...

I thought his biggest concern was going to be deciding what to get his degree in...now that is settled...but where does he go...

I have been encourage dto take him to some camps with pro/college scouts...he is starting to talk about going to Europe and not finishing college if the opportunity arises...

Truthfully...I agree....he can save and go back and get his eduction...but an inury could mean no future and if he waits..he may never get that...and if he makes good money off the bat...that could be a savings nest I would want him to have for his future...

I know this is a trip thread...and i am sorry for blabbering all this...I just needed to write down my thoughts I guess and ask for some opinions...

The prom drama is this...

He is in a MN State Cup tourney...it is a play in Tourney with Nationals as the goal...last Sunday..rained out game means this Sat they play at noon. 1 hour from our home...and the game will not get done till 2...Grand March is at 4...so no pics before...hurry and look good and fly to meet your date...and no time to talk to coaches/scouts after the game who I know want to talk to us...again...do i leave his dad there to talk...leave with Treyner and have his dad meet up at the high school...or do we hope they don't look at the situation as we have no interest and just assume they will talk to his coach and get in contact with us...

HELP!!!!:worship:

Dawn, it would seem to me, since he's a junior, not a senior, and he's going with a friend, for fun, he could be late to prom. FWIW.

(I'd think twice about leaving the dad in charge.)

Adding, this super talented kid, good problem to have.

I'm with Lyz. Let him be late to prom. What time do they have to be at prom? Like, before they close the doors? (We had that in high school.) I'd be with him the whole time, talk to coaches if needed, and then just drop him off at prom! He can get showered after the game and change in the car! Just remember to bring the corsage with you!

I agree with my posse, of course! Be late to prom and give the scouts some time....but not ALL of your time. They are salespeople, after all.

As for football vs. soccer. A football scholarship to Division I likely won't happen at this point...you would already know it by now (remember, college is my career, so there are some things here that I have inside knowledge of). Smaller schools, absolutely....those will still be coming next season. But the heavy hitters would have already approached by now.

Soccer...division I scholarships are few and far between, as you know. Football scholarships are far more plentiful. It is a financial thing...football programs bring in money, soccer programs do not. Thus, the universities have more football scholarships to give out.

As a professor and academic, I usually vote for students to take a full ride at a non-division I school. They will get a MUCH better education....and 99% of them will need it as they will not be going pro. The pressures of D-I are insane. And academics and education are not even a back seat...they aren't even in the car. :sad2:

As for which he should play in the fall...what does HE want? That is what should matter. He has to define himself as either a soccer player or a football player. It is amazing that he has made it this far without having to do that (considering they share a season). But now is decision time for HIM.

Don't even think about pro or the European leagues right now. They are not a current reality...deal with that if/when offers come. And the money from the Euro leagues is NOT big. Very small salaries there (except for the Beckham-types). Pro sports are not the same over there as here in terms of salaries. Like 25K for young recruits. Maybe more for someone outstanding.

As always, feel free to call me if you need to. I am busy this evening, but have time tomorrow morning. I lost your cell...PM me with it again and I can give you a call tomorrow in between meetings.

Dawn -

I am with Erika on this one... He should be late to the prom so that he can talk to the scouts. I like Erika's suggestion about taking the full ride at an education focused school since that is the safer bet for long term success than a soccer career. The education is the best investment you can make and should be first and foremost on your mind.

Good luck,
Goof

I just realized that I likely wasn't as clear as I could have been.

If you are looking for which sport is the "best bet" for a scholarship at a "big name" school, I would still say soccer (even though football scholarships are more plentiful). He is a goalie....they are rare and always in demand.

As a wide receiver...I only see that happening at a smaller school (due to Treynor's size). The WRs at schools like Michigan and Notre Dame are ginormous. As a kicker...yeah, he could go anywhere, but then he would be the specialty squad as opposed to the "main" team...and he might not like that.

Now, as for colleges--you said that Trey would rather have a smaller school, Christian background, and dry campus, right? Um...not happening at any D-I school. Sex, drugs, alcohol, and plenty of steroids to go around. :sad2:

Thanks...he got no talent from I said the fly...:lmao: I am thinking he will make it right up till the Grand March...

The Grand March starts at 4...kids need to be there at 3:30...I think we will go early to the game..talk with the scouts before if we can...
Hey Dawn. :wave2:
Hi..I see you...catched any crawdaddies as of late???

I see what ya mean...

I really think that a NAIA school with scholarship would be the way to start...he can feel out his options as he goes into his Junior year about school and sports...but he would need a competitive team still at that level...
As for which he should play in the fall...what does HE want? That is what should matter. He has to define himself as either a soccer player or a football player. It is amazing that he has made it this far without having to do that (considering they share a season). But now is decision time for HIM.
Honestly...he doesn't know...he has always chosen football in the fall...played soccer year round besides that...now...he has his dreams of his senior year scoring th ewinning touchdown...and thinking of not playing is going to kill him...I think he should just kick for the football team and play soccer for the practices and be dedicated to that...
For Treyner it is not as much about the money...as following a dream and saying he gave it his all...and you are right...that is a ways off still...

will do..

That is what I am hearing...

He is 6'2 and about 185...so as a kicker he is fine...
Now, as for colleges--you said that Trey would rather have a smaller school, Christian background, and dry campus, right? Um...not happening at any D-I school. Sex, drugs, alcohol, and plenty of steroids to go around. :sad2:

Agreed and seconded...a angel he is not...but he would freak out at a D1 school I think...
Some Juniors want shirts made..saying basically that the class of 09 will make partying fine....(I am being funny but the word partying is in the shirt design and it is getting approval from parents belioeve it or not with the word partying in it...

Treyner said..."What the heck is wrong with these people...That's cool to openly admit your a drunk...(sacrcastic voice abounds)."

He being a smart @ss...want the shirt to say
"Pucker up and kiss my class." :rotfl2: My kid may not drink...but he does have naughty wit...hmmm..where did he get that from???:confused3 ;)

Ok...I am off to figure out how to make heads and tails over this trip reservations..need to block the Christmas party and the candelight processional....
I am jumping in....pray for a life raft...:rotfl:

Here is a quick fly-by to post some prom pics...

Treyner said it was the most fun he had had at a school dance..I was so happy he enjoyed his time.

It worked out great going with Sara as friends...lots of dancing with lot's of girls...and no drama...perfect time was had by all...

Treyner acting like he knows something about da Hood!:rotfl: (notice mohawk man behind him!:lmao: )

Dan's Mustang that he let Treyner borrow for prom night....I love that car...

After grand march

We took a bunch of pics of Treyner before his soccer game - liked this one..even with the fuzz on his chin...he said it was bad luck to shave before the game...who knew 17 hairs made a difference!:rotfl2:

btw...they tied their game...0-0 , Treyner had more scouts there...he will play soccer for Varsity this year and we shall see what the football team thinks about letting him be more than a kicker...:confused3

But money is on the line for soccer and he needs as much coaching in that as he can get...

Hope you enjoy the pics...
