....there may actually be light at the end of the tunnel. After my M-in-L's operation, she had had a major setback, but is taking tiny steps to recovery - she is still on a feeding tube and is in ICU, but no longer sedated on a ventilator and the heart specialist says that the valve replacement was a success. Since I hadn't any chance to even BEGIN my XMas shopping, I had to start SOMETIME, so I had taken 2 personal days (the Tues and Wed before Christmas) and, basically EXHAUSTED my body and wallet! Then, Christmas Eve was at MY house, so there was some MAJOR cooking to be done here. In betweern that was decorating and cleaning, along with visits to the hospital. You can see how I really didn't have any time to DIS. And now, of course, Sunday we were DUMPED UPON with more than a foot of snow! Thanks goodness we have the week off! :faint: Thank you for your prayers...

kimmar -- I'm glad things are looking up for your MIL and family. Continued prayers for her recovery.

It IS a good thing you're off this week! You need it!

(Psst. In true Ignorami fashion, I "borrowed" your "believe" image. :) )

Kimmar I'm so glad to hear MIL is slowly recovering. Your silence had me fearing the worst. :sad1:

Snap, I just finished digging out now. Two cars, 1 house. :sad2: DH also helped but it was really a 4 person job. Now my body will quit on me and I will have to spend the rest of the week on the couch. :dance3:

Pakey, I'm curious as to what it was you didn't like about POFQ. Whenever you have a minute I'd love your opinion on the resort. Also, I've never been to Atlantis before. Hoping for a good deal (4th night free, free companion airfare) or it's not going to happen, so I thought I should jump in on free dining.

1. POFQ: the room was really worn. The mattress was worn. Even with the curtain open, the room was dark. I could not have survived a week there.

2. Atlantis: check the price of food before you go. You may get a great deal on room/airfare but everything there is very very expensive. It's a nice place, I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just be prepared for serious sticker shock. It will make Disney seem almost free in comparison. I'd have to have to send medics to revive you the first time you see a menu there. :rolleyes1

Glad to hear your MIL is getting better kimmar. And the dis isn't the same without you.

Well the good thing is they're renovating POFQ now and putting in new mattress (queen sized), so maybe this will help.

As for Atlantis, I've heard it's like $30 a person for every meal. The reason we're considering it is because DD's best friend and mom would be going too, so she'd had someone to vacation with other than me. They went to Disney when DD's friend was 5 and the mother has no desire to go back. :scared1: DD and I agreed after our last trip that maybe we were "Disney'd out" for a bit and would like to try somewhere knew, but honestly, I have no sense of direction and get lost in my own town, so where am I going? Disney allows me to go and not worry about driving, etc. So Disney is back on the very short list of vacation options. We just thought we'd done CBR enough (3 visits) and would like to try somewhere new.

DD's mom and friend also went on a cruise last year and said one was enough. I've never cruised and would love to try it, but it's expensive and considering I'd have to foot the entire bill myself, I don't think I could afford that. If anyone has any vacation ideas I'd love to hear them!

....we are waiting for the throat specialist to do test on her to see if she can swallow food again - she's still getting food intravenously...

Kimmar, so glad to hear about your mil. Like PK, your silence had me fearing the worst, too.

PK, I'm sure Pakey would have the best vacation ideas. She seems to travel the most. We don't get to vacation as much as I would like because DH gets very few days off and we have to travel with a small army of midgets. Most of our vacations are small and in state.

The baby is now 3 weeks old. She's a very good baby. :goodvibes Except for last night when she decided she needed to nurse constantly. I'm very tired.

If I'd had a drink in my mouth -- I would have spit it out on that one.

Both my boys thought it was a good idea to nurse all the time. I know you know this, but nap when you can!

....she is not allowed to drink any liquids yet - since she had the breathing tube in for so long, her swallowing muscles atrophied, so they have to 'thicken' all her liquids with this clear thickening agent until her muscles learn to swallow again, or she could get pneumonia...

Happy New Year, everybody!!!!

Ignoring that it will be 75 here today -- sorry for you guys who need some of that warmth. I can't in all good consciousness put kimmar's freezing balls in my sig today, but since it'll be colder tomorrow, I'll put them in then. :)
