One of the Dis-sers on the AKL Lite thread got her home number and called her a couple of days ago. Apparently she's okay but life (and its issues) has gotten in the way of her getting on the Dis.

Hey all! I'm baaaaaaack!

Had a great time. Beautiful, hot, humid weather. Got a little sunburned but it's better now. Mostly on my back. PK came back with just a slight sunburn on her cheeks and nose. Must keep that girl's skin pristine! Like the resort, but not sure I'd go back again. Sort of a nice place to go once. Loved the "all-inclusive" aspect. PK went parasailing, on a teen cruise with DJ, banana boating and the four of us had a great dinner on the beach. No problems with TSA or customs. Everything went smoothly except our one cruise got cancelled so none of us went snorkeling, and wanted PK to try scuba diving, but it didn't happen. Too much I didn't know ahead of time. They wanted her to be seen by a specialist there -- apparently even though the forms say the pediatrician needs to sign off if they have any medical conditions (PK has a slight case of asthma) it's not enough. Then it turned out you can't dive within 24 hours of flying. Would have been nice to know this stuff ahead of time. Will post more later and will have pics up on FB, hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry I missed so many birthdays while I was gone. Happy Birthday to S and Pakey and Wickey's sons! Sorry to hear Kimmar is dealing with real life but hoping she'll be back with us soon. Glad to have PIO here with us! We've been introduced on another thread. Welcome PIO!

PK welcome home. I've had good time vacations to places I'd not return to but they are still good. And you'll never know until you've gone; that's why we keep trying new places. Can't wait to see pics and get more details.

I posted pictures of bacon the other day to see if it would lure Kimmar out. All I ended up doing was set of a bacon craving for myself.

So, yesterday, I ended up cooking bacon and eggs for breakfast. I know you North Americans are not really used to seeing middle bacon cuts, but this is how we have bacon over here in Oz.

Kimmar calls this Kangaroo bacon...I guess because it is how the Australians prefer their bacon cuts....but take a look at this!

Sure looks like Roo to me!



I also fried an egg.

And mindful that Kimmar always thinks that Kangaroo bacon is underdone, I deliberately BURNT my bacon breakfast!!

I so wish I'd ignorami'd thoughts of Kim!

Hey PiO! Just got back from Beaches Resort in Turks & Caicos! Great time. Great food. And plenty of sunshine and warm weather. Unfortunately, I'm back to reality tomorrow -- commuting into NYC in the heat and humidity. I really hate only having 2 weeks off during the summer. It's so unfair. I do, however, enjoy having a paycheck, so I guess I'll continue to commute and suck it up.

Im on holiday this week and the forecast is for thunder storms...but as this is Scotland ( 4 seasons in one day ) we will just fly by the seat of oor pants.

There were thunderstorms predicted every day we were in Turks. It rained for an hour or so each day but then it would clear out and be beautiful again. I hope you get the same weather! We're expecting thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon into Tuesday morning. Then just HOT. Temps in the low to mid 90's with real feel temps of 100+. And I have to go back to work.

Sunshine and warm weather sounds fantastic right now. Glad you had a great time! I've never been to the Caribbean Islands. Always been a dream of mine to have 3 months off travelling through the West Indies and following the Australian Cricket team when they go on tour.

Having a paycheck is almost a necessity....unless anyone knows of a way of generating passive income and wants to share?

Morning all.

I had to take Andy to the vet for teeth cleaning this morning. It was so hard to leave the little fellow crying and shaking. Paris Hairless goes in on Thursday for hers but she's not a chicken like Andy.

PiO, thanks for all of the bacon. Since I've been on my new food regimen, I don't even get to look at that kind of food. I've finally reached the place where my husband doesn't have to go into the garage to sneak/eat cookies; I'm well behaved enough to not steal them out of the pantry.
