The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

How far prior to my stay should I be requesting a specific area?
I usually email or chat with MS as soon as I know what my request is, on the theory of first come, first served (although I know it really depends on which villas are being vacated the day we check in). I’ve read that rooms are assigned 5-7 days before checkin, so I’d submit my requests about 2 weeks before, at the latest. That said, if something changed at short notice and significantly affected my request, I’d call MS even the day before, or go directly to the front desk when I arrived and talk to them there.

The ones on the 2nd floor have the enclosed balcony, and I'll admit we were very disappointed when assigned one of those. I request "high floor" now, which takes care of the balcony issue as well as helping with reducing noise from the BW itself (especially at night when the entertainment is going).
I believe that the VG 2nd floor enclosed balconies have an overhead enclosure as well as the short wall. So, while I do not prefer the BW view 2nd floor wall balconies (and for years my DH and I had no choice but to stay in a wall balcony if we wanted BW view because there is only one HA studio and one HA 1 bedroom BW view in that category, 2049 and 2947), I don't think they are as bad as the VG ones.

So, I know that you should keep requests to a minimum in the hopes of increasing your odds of getting your requests honored. Would asking for “upper floor near elevator” be reasonable? Ideally, I’d love a Village Green Studio, but I definitely want a higher floor. We are renting points at BWV for the first time, so our request would go through the owner.

Yes, that would be reasonable. I would make it two requests and clarify which is more important. For example “1) high floor 2) near elevator” or the other way around, depending on your desires. Requests are never guaranteed, so hopefully you’ll get at least one!

Construction Walls Removed from Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs Kiosk at Disney’s BoardWalk

As you can see in our photos below, all construction “walls” (read: rolling planters), have been removed from around the location. That said, we don’t expect it to open in the next couple of days as a peek inside revealed that there is no kitchen equipment installed yet. Hopefully that changes soon. Here’s a look around!

Wow - progress. Maybe it will be open by the time I'm there in mid-September. Maybe Cake-Bake might be ready by the time I'm there again in December? Funny to think a year or so ago, I thought both would have been open long before my June trip, but construction has been very slow and delayed on these both. At the current pace, any hopes for putting something in the Big River spot should probably be stretched out to 2030 to 2032.

I agree, they are taking way too long to finish.

Hi. I have not been following the construction at BW. My daughter wants to stay there in August with friends who have never been to Disney. How bad is the construction? Is the place a mess? She'd be in a 1BR Garden/Pool view.

Construction noise during the day is fine, I'm just curious what the experience is like right now.

Thanks for any help!

We arrived early this morning and have been at Disney Springs!
Just got our room ready text and it's showing a one bedroom garden/pool view 🤯

We booked a standard studio! We're racing back to the resort now!

Eeeekkk! We booked this trip spur of the moment mid May because we had just enough DVC points left and we had a bunch of flight credit. Plus we needed a mental break from everyday life. What an amazing start to the trip!

Just here to report room 1130 is one of the farthest rooms in the hotel. I knew those hallways were long, but didn't feel it until this trip walking miles a day in scorching heat. Easy access to the HS walkway or the quiet pool.

For sure! Couple trips back, we were in 3133 and 3135 waaaaaaay down there! But was easy to get to HS, but whew those hallways ! It was easier to just outside to get to bus stop too .
