The I am a pirate/fireman, I am not a hijacker thread, all about nothing in general

sitting at home watching gossip girl...

also watching the dollar tank itself and hoping and praying it rebounds soon :)

Not for me, still have to work tomorrow ...Enjoy your weekend though. It's wet and cold here in Newcastle. Perfect for snuggling at home doing nothing ;)

Sadly, I have all the household chores to catch up on this weekend. No rest for the wicked.

I'm soooooo glad I don't have to work this weekend.

I'm going to see my mum and then on Sunday going to the good food & wine expo.

i'm trying to pretend mine don't exist :)

I'm going to do my chores today, then I have 3 days off to do whatever :thumbsup2

Went to Auskick today, haven't been because I normally work Saturday mornings, but one thing that got up my nose  is some mum's get a bad rap for being overbearing but OMG one of the dads there was out of control.
Helicopter parent much?

I think I'm nearly all done with the inside chores today. Still have the outside ones to get through but it is still too cold out there for me.

I'm not happy at it going down...although my focus is the pound and euro...

But this is NOT tanking...

You can always tell someone who hasn't travelled with it at 50cents

yes, i realise that travelling when the dollar was 50cents would have been terrible.

sorry for the hyperbole

I agree it isn't tanking - we lived with that on our trip in 2008 - the dollar dropped 20c in a week, the first week of our trip

However, I don't really think it's the actual rate that I get irritated about, it's more the unexpected changes in the rate during the time that I am actively planning a trip or are travelling.

When we start to plan a trip most of us start working out a budget and the only way you can realistically do that is by using the exchange rate at that time. When the rate takes a sudden turn after a long stretch of relative stability ( as it has done now) it tends to make a bit of a mess of my nice spreadsheets :sad2: and it can't help but be irritating. Also, having experienced a time when it did tank very suddenly I'm rather wary of it happening again.

The dollar is at a higher rate now than any other time we've hit the USA but I'm finding it's current performance ( and it's irritating divebomb in 2008) far more aggravating than the much lower rate we had on our first trip to the USA, or our first trip to the UK when we only got 40pence for AUD$1 ( Ouch!) . Because on those trips I knew the rate was low months beforehand, it stayed stable, and my budget didn't get knocked around.

Saturday and Sunday are the only days I can do my washing, and it's forecast to rain all weekend... Of course today is the day - mid way through its first load - that my dryer decides to die... :headache:

DH thinks he can fix it, but we have to wait until he can get the parts to find out...

poo bum fart head...

Can I just say i'm loving everthing about this thread!

Loving the comraderie :rotfl:

I'm off to try some new runners today, thinking ahead for WDW, need comfy shoes.
My DH got some skechers GoRun and he loves them, so light and comfy so i'll try some and get them at Endless ;)

We now have a cross trainer, a spin bike and DH is getting a punching bag
(one of the person shaped ones LOL), I think this is a hint...

ooohhhhhh....we love www.endless.com at work now, one of the oldies who never buys anything on line bought 2 pair of shoes, they arrived and she hasnt taken them off..so I am in the good books for putting her onto it..and she saved a $$$$$$$$$....

shopping now for a car port, as we are turning the double garage into a grannie flat for DS2 + GF.....any suggestions????

My suggestion is don't do it...

Sorry, not my place, but our neighbour did that, then his DD had kids, and now it's him and his wife in the grannie flat, and the kids and the grandkids in the house  Don't do it.

i think you are wonderful parents for opening your house to your kids again, especially when they are grown. that's a lot of people and personalities under one roof. i know that my parents would never do that with us kids, as we all love each other, but in no way could we all live together. someone would be dead before the first week was through!!

good luck with your carport and renovations though!!!
