The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

I hadn't thought about gas prices being a huge reason, but it makes sense; the 'crowds' are not usually due to people from out of state, but locals who come on the weekends. It makes perfect sense that locals might go less often due to gas prices, doesn't it?

oh wait.. isn't it UEA (utah educators association/ teachers convention) weekend too?

I know it's usally the same week as ours in MN.

I've heard it called

Mmmmhhhhhmmm... Sure is. They were saying that is was going to be crazy busy because of it.

Dang it, I am fading fast. Guess I'll give up trying to stay awake, it will just make me cranky(er) tomorrow. :rotfl:

Good night, ladies. :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Last year N said he missed the snow.. I checked his forehead to see if he had a fever!

:scared1:

It wouldn't be too bad if it fell, got warm and melted.

but NOOOOOOOOOOOO the stuff stays for months and month and months, blinding the eyes, dirtying the carpets with wet boots/mitten/ socks , causing heart attacks, causing roof to cave, and becoming dangerous when melt/ freeze patterns occur. :sad2:

I should head off to. I have to get up early and get the boy off to school.

Good night my lovely ladies. :flower3:

Good Morning Hyena Folk!

My mom sent fruit baskets and GC from the local grocery store for her parents every year.

They had everything they wanted, they were simple country people... but groceries are something everyone needs. On a fixed income (for most retirees) it is a blessing to not worry about grocery money for one month. :goodvibes

Or maybe something more fun? Blockbuster GCs, fast food GCs...

Maybe some picture frames with the kids pics (dropping BIG hints helps!):rolleyes1

:rotfl:

As a simple country people what do I want for Christmas? Rubber boots, flannel shirts, magazine subscriptions(for when the snow builds up on the satellite dish), big bag of sunflower seeds for the bird feeder, simple $4 Hanes sweat pants. We're pretty easy to please.:thumbsup2

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: OMG!!! I just pulled down Alex's lunch bag, which we havent used since last year. I had $.50 for milk money I was going to put in it... I heard a jingle.. There was $.50 left in it from last year!:lmao: :lmao:

Well it's better to find the money than the half full soured milk carton.:lmao:

Or a Costco sized jar of ketchup... Didn't happen to me, but to someone I know. :rotfl2:

OMG!! I got my brother a GIANT ketchup and mustard jar for his birthday this year. He LOVES ketchup, has every since he was a kid. I had found a giant pump jar of ketchup at Walmart and since he kept admiring my nifty ketchup bottle I decided to get him his own.

Lest you think I'm crazy, this is genetic and I blame my mother's side of the family. One of the last acts I performed with my mother was in Orlando when we stole my brother a bottle of ketchup from the Universal Studios Hard Rock Cafe as a souvenier.:lmao: Of course this was after we each drank a couple of Hurricane's. I miss my mom! We used to have so much fun together. We used to go to the thrift shops and end up laughing so hard my stomach would hurt for 2 days afterwards.:lmao: I guess I would rather have a fun mom for 59 years than a grumpy mom for 80 though.

I'm glad you're getting better!

oh yes! Finish that antibiotic!!

mmm hmmmmm

:rotfl:

Nursey talk here:

Not finishing antibiotics and asking a doc for them for every little mild sniffle is why we have the "super bugs". The bacteria that are resistant to broad spectrum antibiotics, forcing docs to haul out the big ones that cause nasty side effects (hearing loss). :scared1: Or having to do some drastic surgery to reduce the bacteria.

Anytime hubby gets sick I kinda freak.. the baseline antibiotics don't work for him. They fill many scrips and try different ones to knock it out. Thankfully he's been fairly healthy.

Though he is going to ask for anti-depressants again. :guilty: The MN grey days of fall have caught up to him.

Or perhaps we could all quit bothering the doctors, wasting time, money and lost productivity. For a mere $10 the Neil Med Sinus Rinse is available...but don't take just my word for it. Hear what OhVeggieGirl from Toledo, Ohio says about the Neilmed...http://www.viewpoints.com/NeilMed-Sinus-Rinse-review-48523...and her other 15 friends...http://www.viewpoints.com/NeilMed-Sinus-Rinse-reviews

Does that make me a redneck because I bought my brother industrial size ketchup for his birthday?:lmao: Wait, don't answer that! I think I already know the answer.:lmao:

Good Afternoon!!

FYI.......DL was crazy busy!!!! One the busiest I've seen it.:sad2: Why? Who knows? The fall decor? The Halloween party?

I still prefer the Christmas season. Nicer weather, less crowds, (during the first 2 weeks or so), and the decorations are the best!

Have a nice day!:flower3:

Hello Hyenas,

I seem to be coughing less today, which makes me quite thrilled. :) My meds did make me sleepy this morning though. :sad2: I even got Starbucks hoping it would help me wake up but it had no effect on me. I did take a nap at home during my lunch break and that seemed to help a lot.

We had time warner over this afternoon. Apparently one of the lines was causing interference with our cable and internet. I hope it's fixed and will test it out when I get home. My bf was there at the time but had to rush off to work.

It's a bit crazy this morning at work. I hope you are all having a good day. :)

Hi! I'm glad you're starting to feel better. I signed up for the Segway tour for the Ladie's Trip. I've never been one one. Have you? I hope I don;t fall off of it. :rotfl:

Hello, hyenas!

I'm cooking a pot roast for dinner, but was cooking it in the oven instead of the crockpot to speed things along. Unfortunately I was cooking it in a pot that we are now unsure if it is oven-safe. There was a funky hot-plastic kinda smell after an hour in the oven, so now it's on the stovetop... Who knows when the darn thing will be done. :headache:

It sure smells good, though! Potatoes, carrots, onions, with onion soup mix sprinkled on top. :thumbsup2

DH was really tired today, so worked from home. He's been on-call for work for the past two weeks (getting calls and sometimes working in the middle of the night) plus putting his usual hours in at the office, and another call came in at 3 AM this morning. :sad2:

He was going to go into the office, but he was soooo tired, and his knee is killing him, so he's limping and in a lot of pain even when sitting. And still trying to kick the bronchitis/pneumonia, too. Poor guy.

We were able to hit Starbucks together this morning (a nice treat!) and otherwise he was on his laptop and phone in his office.

Hey everyone. Just a quick second to stop by.

We had well visits for the kids today. As expected Morgan was off the charts but has come down on her weight. about 75% now. The DR was concerned but I assured her she eats like a teenage boy. She just burns it off at dance. :rolleyes1

However the big news in my house is that Jake was at 40%!!!! Yes I'm so excited to be at 40% all of his life he has been under 18% and dipping to 6% for a time. Last year he was at 25%. That boy is catching up. Somehow he weighed in at 41lbs on their scale!!!!! 43 1/2 inches tall!!! :worship: :worship: :worship: I'm so excited!!! :lmao:
