The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

He is definitely doing better then when we first met. He could barely make make toast. He could grill fine.. Thats not an issue.. But to him, he will grill up some meat, and ther eyou go. Theres dinner. :scared: You cant just feed them MEAT!! I just want to get him to understand exactly WHAT is in a balanced meal.. He seems to not get it.
Yeahhhhh, I think it's genetic. Either that, or these brilliant men are doing it on purpose, so that you ask them only in extreme situations to cook. :lmao:

My dad was a meat and potatoes kind of guy; as long as you've got meat and potatoes, it's a meal. DH is the king of the one dish meal. He offers to make dinner, then goes out and grills chicken or steak, and comes back in, either surprised that the rest of the meal didn't make itself or that we even NEED anything else. (Criminy Christmas, NO WONDER you've got heart trouble, buddy!!!) :confused3 :rotfl:

Hey, how are you feeling today? Not so achey, I hope. :flower3:

DH and the (big) boy went to the grocery store, and DS4 is supposedly napping. (Or is it 'allegedly'? 'Supposed to be'!) :rotfl:

So I get a few minutes of peace. It's nice. :rotfl:

Like crap. I dont get why I feel so bad. :confused3 After making the lasagna.. I got really hot and dizzy.. Thank goodness my hubby was there, and that he is a strong guy..:lmao: my big ole butt would have been on the floor.

On the up side.. Frelan had put the package of Oreos on the counter.. and I was going to chuck them because I thought they were all gone.. There was one left!!:cool1: :cool1: He was standing next to me, and I snatched that thing up so fast and shoved it in my mouth.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: It was good to. :lmao:

OMG, that brings back bad memories from my childhood, with two bullying older brothers. :lmao:

Is that the first time you've gotten hot and dizzy? Was it from being in front of the hot oven?

Seems a little extreme. Maybe it's perfectly normal for a twin pregnancy, with so much pressure on the body, I don't know. If it happens again, you should mention it. Or maybe mention it even if it doesn't. Hopefully it's not unusual, and just something to be careful of, but not worrisome, you know?

I"m thinking I should sign up for Staley's Idiot's Guide to Cooking class... :lmao:

Learn to boil water!
Learn to take advantage of your crockpot!
Learn the basics so that you can confidently prepare any kind of meat that your family will love!
:lmao: :lmao: Right! I think the crock pot will be our next lesson. My mil was asking all these questions on how to make a roast in one. SERIOUSLY. It is SO EASY. potatoes.... carrots... seasonings... meat... season it.. some liquid.. Lid. turn it on. Cook all day. It doesnt MATTER how long you cook it! The longer the better! I dont think I have ever timed what I make in it. Just chuck it in when i get up.. Pull it out in the evening.

:lmao: Seriously. When I was growing up my dad did all the cooking.. My mom BLEW at it. YUCK. Frelans mom is an awful cook.. but from what I hear, his dad couldnt even heat up TV dinners. My kids will be good cooks, if it is the last thing I do!:lmao: Heck..... Mikalah can already throw together a hot dog for lunch. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It has happened before when I was making something that required lots of time standing over the hot oven/stove area. Or if I get up too quick. I am going to add it to my list of things to bring up.

I know how easy the crockpot is, I think I'll feel more comfortable with it the more I use it. But for right now, I need recipes to follow, I need INSTRUCTIONS! Any time I have done something without instructions, it's been a total disaster in the kitchen.

Well, recently I did a roast (in the oven, it was faster) because I had a roast and I thought I had dry onion soup mix, which the recipe called for. It said to sprinkle the soup mix on top, pour in a cup of water (I think there was supposed to be some other liquidy type of thing, like a bit of Worcestershire sauce or something) and kick it off.

So I did NOT have the soup mix. So I sprinkled the roast liberally with garlic powder and dried onion flakes and pepper. I had no idea how much, and worried I'd done too much. I figured it was better to do too little than too much, and (to my somewhat pleasure) it was actually too bland, could have used more. Next time! But it did come out nicely done, not dry or anything. :thumbsup2

Dont forget to throw some salt on there too. Once you get more used to it, it will get easier! i just throw some chicken in there with taco seasoning.. or some meat with BBQ sauce.. or pork with green salsa.. Shoot.. anything! Meat, seasoning. Yum. My mom makes spaghetti sauce in it, but I never do.. Makes it to watery for my taste.

Good call! :thumbsup2
That will make your Mother Hen feel better. :rolleyes1

:lmao: :lmao: Things have been so crazy with this pregnancy.. Honestly, Im not sure what is normal. In reading the twin boards.. most of what is happening to me, they are going through as well. So at least that is comforting.

I can see that; symptoms you've been having are confirmed as totally part of the drill. But symptoms you aren't having can be WTH DID I GET MYSELF INTO??? :lmao:

I'm just not very creative with spices, and I need to know amounts. I did something one time (ribs?) with an entire bottle of bbq sauce. That was good! Probably terribly fatty, too. But very easy! Toss in the meat; dump the whole bottle in, kick it off!

I think that every day. :lmao: Seriously.. I feel like I was so asking for it. We are just going to try for ONE MORE. Famous last words.. huh? :sad2: :lmao: If Frelan wasnt SO excited, and SO helpful.. I would bury myself in a hole and never come out. Oh well.. At least im not barfing any more. :lmao:

:lmao: Thats the way to do it! I dont know.. I just shake it on.. I tend to just throw stuff together, I am not a big fan of recipes.. unless they are for dessert.

The glass is definitely half full! Ummm, more than half, I'd say. And that's a good thing. ;)

The idea of having twins (especially with all the infertility stuff we went through) just stressed DH out, it had always been one of his nightmares. I asked WHY, since neither of us has twins in the family. Why (other than the infertility procedures) would twins even occur to you? And he didn't know why, just was deathly afraid of two of them at the same time. :rotfl:

I think you and Frelan are perfect for twin parents, because you have a very... what's the phrase?... laid back attitude, you just roll with whatever comes along, you know? Sometimes something will knock you flat, but nothing every lays you out, you just get up and keep doing the best you can. I'm not saying you NEVER get stressed or don't have worries, just that you have a good attitude about life in general. :thumbsup2

I suspect it's educated shaking. Trust me, I have eaten some of my culinary mistakes (because I was dirt poor in college, and that was all I had to eat!), and they were pretty awful! :rotfl:

You made me cry. :sad1:

my mom and my sister said the same things.. We are both so laid back, and go with the flow, things tend not to phase us much. Thats probably why our house is always messy. ;) :lmao: but seriously, when I told them we were having twins.. BOTH of them were like.. oh yeah? that will be so easy for you guys! :scared1: While I was n the phone bawling my eyes out!:lmao:

I just hope that when i am sitting on the bed with two crying, hungry, spitting up newborns... and my husband is at work... and Mikalah is begging for breakfast.. and Alex needs to get to school... That I can just sit back and laugh. other wise, I am done for!:lmao:

Probably. I have been cooking since I was in the 4th grade. Maybe thats why I dont think twice about it. not that I dont make gross stuff sometimes. I do, trust me. :lmao: The only thing is.. When I REALLY mess up.. It is REALLY bad. REALLY. :lmao: I try to get the kids to eat it, but they know better. ;) :lmao:

Awwww. Didn't mean to make you cry. I was worried when your response took awhile that what I meant hadn't come out right!

And those first few weeks with newborns are so hard! I hope Frelan can get some time off to help out a bit. DH did that, took his vacation time, and it made all the difference. Of course, it was tough when he eventually DID go back to work, but at least I was better capable physically (not so much emotionally, I was a trainwreck!) :rotfl:

I think as enamored of the idea of twins as I am/was, I would NOT be a good mother to be in that situation; I think I worry too much and get stressed out easily, especially when I feel totally incompetent. Might have needed to get the men in white coats... :faint:

;) Everything makes me cry right now. Seriously.. Commercials. :lmao: My husband just looks at me. :sad2:

We are hoping that he will have a couple of weeks to take, but who knows. I think he is better with babies then i am! I tend to get irritated, but he is so laid back with them. He LOVES babies. All babies. and has ALWAYS wanted twins. He is going to stay on nights for now.. It will be so much easier to have him home during the day when the big kids are up.
