The how we ate and drank our way around the World Trip Report - UPDATED 05/06!

I am loving your trip report especially since I didn't get to do much Disney on my Orlando trip. Disney really does have a magic about it.

Funnel cakes are the best thing since sliced bread IMO. One year DH and I shared one, then two, then three in a couple of hours. It was hard to get rid of the powdered sugar evidence all over our shirts. ;)

Beaches and Cream is across the water at Beach Club not Boardwalk, but I agree they have good onion rings and burgers.

Pretty sure Rain Forest Café is outside AK so you don't need a park ticket.

FGMS, you must have taken really good notes to be able to recount your days so well. Keep it comin'! :surfweb:

I kept very good notes and my memory hasn't completely failed me. Yet. :yay:

So glad you're enjoying it. I'm having fun reliving it!

Goofy, there are quite a few good places to eat either around Boardwalk or at Downtown Disney. We have eaten at the Grill and liked their food. Lately we have been eating at the ESPN club. They have good burgers and sandwiches. Also, Beaches N Cream on the Boardwalk has good burgers, good onion rings and lots of good ice cream. Earl of Sandwich at downtown Disney has good sandwiches and you don't need a park pass to go there.

Thanks for the helpful information!

Sorry to hear your meal at Sunshine Seasons was a disappointment! I've never been there, mostly because I'm always tempted by all of the treats in World Showcase!

Too funny about your sister's birthday call from Goofy! I love the special little Disney touches!

Yeah, we have that same issue - too much other really good stuff to eat. Not quite sure how it worked out this time. Oh well - live and learn. There's a first and last time for everything! :)

It has been a few years since I have done Soaring. Nobody wants to go with me as I am hanging on too tight. I think I am afraid I will slide right out of the seat and end up at the bottom of the canyon or in the river.

Very true although I've never heard of anyone falling out?!?!?!? :confused3

Looks like Disney sure made your sister's day special. That's what makes Disney so special! Where else do you get that kind of treatment?

Just found your TR and loving it! I just sat here for an hour and a half reading it this morning. You are cracking me up! Can't wait for more!

Thanks so much for joining in and commenting! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Just wait until the "kids" get here... it will get even better. I think.

Since the Margarita was clearly not sweet enough for us, we just had to go to France for dessert!

I thought I would go out of my box and get the Cake of the Day (Chocolate Cake), instead of my usual Napoleon but I was sorry and missed my Napoleon.
I've been called "rut woman" for a reason. Should have stayed in my box. It looked much better than it tasted.

Here’s mine.

My mom got the Napoleon. Lucky her.

We pretty much rode everything we wanted to.

We saw every show we wanted to.

And most importantly, we ate everything we wanted to. :lovestruc

Which meant only one thing… time to leave. EPCOT.

This was our last peaceful night at home. The kids and husband come tomorrow! Our mom/daughter/daughter fabulous trip is coming to an end and our new hectic, fun-filled, loud, messy awesome trip is will be starting tomorrow evening.

I was really enjoying that king bed all to myself! :rolleyes1 Love you, Dave!

Next up... AKL, Boma, and kids!

Sorry to hear about your chocolate cake! :(

Can't wait to hear what happens when the kids get there!

My last morning waking up in my nice, king bed alone. After rolling around from side to side, just because I could, I got out of bed and finished the first box of Cap’n Crunch. Hmmmm… onto Apple Jacks. Isn’t sugar cereal the best? On vacation? Too bad you’re hungry about 10 minutes after you’ve consumed about 800 calories!

Today was another down day. It was also a “get ready for the kids to get here” day.

We grocery shopped. Again. (Picked up another box of Cap’n Crunch”.)

We picked up around the house.

We did a little laundry.

We did a little soaking up the sun.

We did a lot more of basically nothing, which is sooo much fun to do on vacation.

We got ready to go to AKL to eat at…

But before we ate, we had a wonderful time just walking around the resort.

We stayed here a few years ago and I loved it (but still not as much as POR) but there’s something wonderful about waking up, walking out onto your patio and being greeted by giraffs and zebras. Nowhere else can you find that. Except for maybe the real Africa. :rolleyes1

Here’s my mom in a very blingy outfit. We loved it. Doesn’t she look pretty?

We stopped to check out the shop first and of course, who do we come across?

Duffy…

I can’t say that I’ve ever seen bananas growing on trees before. Kinda cool.

And of course we saw these…

Here’s my mom again

And sis again

While we were sitting in the large rocking chairs outside, a nice woman offered to take a picture of the three of us…

Here we are at Boma and this is my mom’s friend, Linda. We met Linda on a previous Christmas trip where we all stayed at Pop Century. I guess we must have liked her because we agreed to meet up with her again. :thumbsup2
She also had a friend along with her – Joyce.

Hi Linda!

Apparently, I must have forgotten to take pictures of the food, however, I did remember the most important part…

Dessert!

Zebra domes? Can you just say NUMMY? I dream about these babies a lot. I just wish I could eat more of them at one time so maybe I could get sick of them and not want them anymore? Hasn’t happened yet!

My sister with her birthday surprise. (Yeah, she’s definitely milking her birthday.)

DSCN3556.jpg

We really had a great time catching up with Linda and getting to know Joyce. Bye ladies! Until next time!

Up next… the kids arrive but do we ever find them?

I just read your whole TR in one sitting. Love, love, love it! Your family reminds me a lot of mine.

Thanks for sharing -- looking forward to the rest!

Kristen,

Thanks so much for joining in! Love hearing from everyone! Tons more to come! :yay:

Your mom does indeed look very pretty. I want to be like her when I'm her age. I tell my kids all the time when they have families of their own and go to Disney to remember to invite me along. :rolleyes1 I never want my love of Disney to go away.

I've never eaten at Boma so I can't vouch for the food but the dessert you've got there looks absolutely amazing.

Awww.... thanks! I want to be just like my mom when I grow up too! I only hope I can do half the things for my grandkids that she has done for ours. We can never thank her enough for the wonderful memories she has given us! :littleangel:

I completely understand where you're coming from with your kids and once they start having kids - they better love Disney! But most of all, they better take me along too! :goodvibes
