The how we ate and drank our way around the World Trip Report - UPDATED 05/06!

I'm glad that your mom was okay after hitting the pole!! I walk into things in plain view all the time!

Too funny that you guys were the smarties of your boat! At least you learned a fun fish fact! :thumbsup2

I can not wait.
Plus your mother driving into that pole reminds me of my daughter. Many Many years ago we were in a Sears store. In the middle of the asile was a stand that held sales ads. It was bolted to the floor. My darling daughter walked right into it. She was about 4 at that time.

Hello and welcome!!! I sure hope your daughter was okay after walking into the sign?!?!?!?

Thanks so much for joining in!!!! :thumbsup2

Haha... yeah, I guess I've been known to walk into things before too but you have to admit, it sure looks funny when you see someone else do it! Especially when you can see it happening but you can't. Quite. Stop. It!! :rolleyes1

I believe we have inherited some of that. There was a certain sliding screen door in Florida that both my sister and I walked completely into without even seeing the screen.

I did it first. My sister was not in the room. Made me laugh - but at least no one else had seen it! Shortly thereafter, my sister comes strolling in and was going to walk out to the porch - didn't even see the screen and walked right into it. So hard it knocked the screen out! We almost pee'd our pants we were laughing so hard! Awwwww, good times!

Up at 7:00.

Check out forecast. Sunny. Warm Mid-upper 80’s. Perfect.

Had my usual breakfast of champions. :cool1:

We left around 10:00 for our favorite park, EPCOT!

It’s hard to resist taking a picture of these arches every time you go through them!

Our first big ball picture!

A few shots of us.

And more of the ball.

The flower and garden show was right around the corner so there was no shortage of these…

We always time it such that the countries are just opening because that’s honestly our favorite part of EPCOT.

First stop? Mexico!

DSCN3428.jpg

Flowers are a novelty to people from Minnesota in March because we haven’t really seen them since August? So… walking into Mexico, we had to stop and snap a picture of these because they were pretty.

DSCN3429.jpg

Next stop. Norway.

For a $8.50 coffee with Baley’s. Ouch.

DSCN3434.jpg

One of the many things I love about Epcot is we tend do slow down. We do a lot more sitting, eating, relaxing, eating, people watching, eating… you get the picture. We slow down and take everything in.

Onward…

To get…

China used to have the BEST eggrolls. And then they didn’t. Now they seem to be better again.

DSCN3438.jpg

I just can’t help taking lots of pictures at EPCOT so these posts are a little picture heavy.

Up next. More pictures and the beginning of my sister’s blushing frenzy.

Oh and I forgot to mention.... today is FairyGodmothers Sis's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :flower3:

Almost pee'd? I'm pretty sure I did. We would have won the BIG money had someone recorded that. :rotfl2:
Happy birthday!!!! :yay::yay:

Love your World Showcase pictures! Flowers always seem to be prettier at Disney!

Thank you very much! Agreed. Flowers are so much prettier in Disney. Isn't everything?

Hello! I'm new to this board and in fact, this is my first post!

Your trip report is really funny. I can't wait to hear more!

Epcot is our favorite too. As is World Showcase. We do the eat and drink around the world, just got to sample all our favorites.

We decided long ago to take time to smell the roses. We rarely have a plan anymore when we go. It makes it so much less stressful. In fact we rarely make ADRs until the day of or night before, if at all.

Really enjoying your report. FGMS.

We went to Fulton's and loved the lobster bisque and the crab cakes. We also had the Portobello mushroom fries, but really didn't care for them much. We had a great server, and he was training a new server, so we talked to him a lot while she did most of the work. When I called him a cast member, he said they weren't since they didn't work for Disney but the restaurant company. I would go back just for the bisque.

Epcot is my favorite park, too. I love going during the Wine and Food Festival. You can really eat your way around the World cuz they have small plates of all kinds of things that you can normally only get inside the sit down restaurants. Okay, now I have to go find a snack. All this food talk has made me hungry. popcorn::

Thanks so much, Staci! Yeah, it's sooo much more enjoyable when you can take your time. :lovestruc We tried to go into a few more shops and just really appreciate all the Disney details!

Yeah, that lobster bisque was pretty awesome! Probably some of the best I've had - the crabcake was very, very good too. Again, liked the restaurant, just didn't quite have that Disney feel - but it makes sense if they're not technically owned by Disney, which I never really understood! :confused3

We've never been there during the wine and food festival but I know we'd love it! Something new to strive for! :yay:

Hey!! Loving this TR! Those bats at AK are HUGE!!!!

Really looking forward to more pics!! :-)

Moving right along to…

In my opinion, Germany (Epcot’s version) is the prettiest country.

Our sweet tooth seemed to be kicking in so we got a caramel from here to split.

DSCN3442.jpg

To. Die. For. In other words, we really liked it. A lot.

Moving along…

And how cute is this?

Closer look.

On to Italy.

We really weren’t going through the countries as fast as it may look – it’s just that we knew we were coming back and not only are we coming back but we’re coming back with the kids and one of them happens to be 21 and he really wants to “drink his way around the countries”. He tries and I can’t wait for you to see the progress of that… and to see if he succeeds. Do you remember being 21 and stupid? Love you, Matt!

Anyway, moving on to...

To watch…

DSCN3453.jpg

We can’t go to EPCOT without fitting Voices of Liberty into our schedule. We absolutely love them. We always sit on the floor – right up to the circle – as close to them as you can get and my sister had her birthday button on so while they were signing, she got a little serenade.

IMG_0967.jpg

I really wanted to get a picture of it but I was sitting right next to her – practically on top of her – and I was just too close and realized that by the time I got my camera out, he’d be done anyway but fortunately, my mom snuck in a picture from the back.

I just wish you could have seen the several shades of red that her face turned.

Here’s the very sweet man who serenaded her.

DSCN3455.jpg

Sidebar here. If you’re sitting on the floor watching VOL sing and you happen to be sitting cross-legged (Indian style). Don’t let one of the singers try to help you up using one hand. It doesn’t work and it’s quite embarrassing. What happens is he grabs one hand and pulls. Your body just doesn’t move that way. You end up getting partially up and then spinning all the way around until you are no longer facing him and you’re basically flat on your back. Trust me. I’m telling the truth. It happened to me once and now the second they’re done singing, I quickly get up because I think of it every single time I’m there and my sister and I laugh about it every time. If you don’t believe me, just try it. Better yet. Wait ‘till you’re there and then try it. :rotfl:

Outside of America.

DSCN3457.jpg

I never saw Toy Story 3 because at the time my daughter was just getting ready to go off to college and from what I understand, that’s the main storyline to TS3 and I just knew that emotionally I couldn’t handle it. Anyway, every time we would come across this guy…

IMG_0973.jpg

My sister would mumble something like “evil”. I ignored it the first time and then we came across him again somewhere else and she again mumbled something like, “bad, bad bear” so finally I asked her who it was because how could something that looks so cute be so bad? So then she told me about him. Funny thing was… several days later we were at another park and we saw this guy again (sorry, don’t even know his name) and I heard two women saying how bad he was too. It made me smile.

And you can’t bypass this stand without buying one of these!

DSCN3458.jpg

After we made a complete powdered sugar mess of ourselves and everything around us, we moved on to…

Ummm…

Oh, it’s Wednesday. The drummers don’t perform on Wednesdays. Moving on.

Up next. Even more pictures and more blushing.

Haha!! Can't wait for your "drinking around the world" pictures! :-)

Great update!

I love your report. I agree on how pretty the Germany area is. I always look forward to it. It brings back memories. I lived in Germany for a total of 6 years (2 different trips with the military).
