Okay, I've decided I don't like the locations of any of the smoking-optional buildings at Pop :flower: . Since I would never smoke in a non-smoking room, where on the grounds can I go? Are there ashtrays around Hourglass Lake? Can I smoke (considerately, of course) at the pools, etc? Thanks in advance!

which buildings are smoking optional?

Great info!! we're considering the pop for april!

There are plenty of places to smoke. We had a smoking room in the bowling pin section and it was a nice location and all we had to do was walk down the walkway and we watched the fireworks every night. There are ashtrays on the tables by the hippy dippy pool and if you are at another pool, you can always bring one from your room.

I'm sure that this was answered in this thread but it would take me another week to find the answer; so I thought that asking someone out here would be alot quicker.

We are going to be checking into Pop on Sept 11th. Does anyone know roughly how long the "resort" pool is open till???

Lifeguards go off duty @ 9 pm and the pools remain open until midnight. Hope that helps. :)

Are you serious???? OMGosh that is so cool. I thought that it was going to close when the sun goes down. Just before dark. Now with some of the Parks closing early we can go swimming.

BTW- thanks for the info

LOL! Yes, totally serious. They were open that late when we were there in June as well as last January. Have fun!

It's on page 80(!) of this thread, and I think smoking-optional was the wrong term, but buildings 1, 4, 5 and 8 are mixed smoking/non-smoking (I think; I will edit this post momentarily if I'm wrong :))

Hey guys imma be in the POP labor day weejend 9/2/05 thru 9/6/05 does anybody know if theres anything special going on @ the hotels or parks next weekend. And whats the weather beenlike. I know down here in SoFla its been horriably hott.

If I'm not mistaken, on another thread we talked about small appliances. One of the posters called WDW and was told that YES small appliances were allowed but that they MUST be UNPLUGGED before leaving the room because of potentail fire hazards. Now we all know that 10 people can call WDW and get 10 different responses from the exact same question. My suggestion would be to make the call yourself, ask to speak to a manager and see if they have anything in writing.

Thanks for your help guys!

It seems that no one has had a real bad experience at the PC. The funny thing is that I only booked at this one resort, because it was newer than the other value resorts, and therefore, I'm assuming that there will be less things that require repairs. Boy, after hearing all the great reviews, I'm glad I'm staying at the PC.

And welcome Melwood23, I'm a newbie DIS person myself!! :earboy2:

Thanks for the welcome. As for the other value resorts, I don't think they are bad at all. I just wanted a change from the Movies. I am not a sports fan, so ASSports would not be interesting to me, same for Music. But PC is so much ME lol. Love to see all the various icons over the years and remember when I seen/watched/had etc these. Actually can't wait till the other half opens to see how that will look.

This is one thing I love about WDW. The pools stay open late. When at ASMo, I was astonished that I would be walking to the food court to get something, and at 11pm, people were still in the pool, and even more amazing...is in the pool when it was only 50 degrees out and raining (this was in early Dec 2002). Seeing the steam coming off the pool was very cool. But I was too chicken to get in, cause it would be freezing getting out!! While at PC last year, I was in the pool every evening, even a couple times at 9pm.

Yeah, DH and I aren't sports fans ourselves, so the ASSports wouldn't appeal to either of us. We would have gone to the ASMovies, but we haven't heard much about the PC (with this thread, has now changed...) and thought we'd try it out. Now, we're so thrilled to be staying there.. I can't wait, only 6 more days to go.. :flower:

Hi Everyone!
Well we are in the final 30 odd days before our trip and I am going mental with all the final planning to do. I'm sorry I know I should have read back though the posts because this has surely been asked but if anyone knows off hand I would be grateful. My DBF and I are staying at the Pop :cheer2: :flower: :cheer2: and since we won't be renting a car are wondering what a cab would cost to the nearest Target? I am from California originally and just love  Target and would love to take a short trip there one afternoon .

Thanks :flower: !

One more question  ! When we arrived at the Pop last year it was about 10pm and check in went smoothly, but this year our flight gets in at about 3pm so with the towncar and grocery stop I'm figuring a check in at around 5pm or so.

Will it be a madhouse then    ?

Last year we had to hunt for a trolly since luggage assistence was closed but this year we plan on using them. We also plan on buying 3 times the amount of water we bought last year, yes 6 cases for us so we will certainly need help :flower: .

Yay can't wait! Oh and by the way :disrocks: !

Leaving in a week! :cool1:

A couple of questions:

1. What are the food court hours? open at? close at?

2. We are arriving late (11 pm-ish), do we need to call a few days ahead to make sure they know we are arriving late? Or do they just know this because we're taking DME?

Thanks!

Kristina - no way to know if it is going to be a mad-house. Things seem to be busier if you arrive just after a Magic Express bus. I think you should be okay though.

I am not sure how close the nearest Target is. Sorry I can't help with that, but they should be able to help you at the front desk. Or ask at the DVC desk - we found them to be extremely helpful when needing directions to a grocery store.

JavaJ- I believe the food court opens at 6 am and it closes at midnight. At least it did in June. ;) No need to call since you have a reservation. They won't give your room away. My friends arrived at 1 am during our June trip.

Have fun!

I hope you have a great trip. One warning though, when we went in April we used luggage assistance. When you use this, your luggage is loaded onto carts for you but we did not know that the luggage is not taken directly to your room. It is put in a holding room until they can get to it. They told us it would be delivered in about an hour. It was really 2 hours. Had we known, we would have taken it to the room ourselves because it was a hot afternoon, the kids wanted to swim in the pool, but our swimsuits were in the luggage in the holding room. Next time, we will just cart it to the room ourselves like we did in 2004.

I will be staying at POP OCT 11 thru 18 , save a little bit of money we are going to eat breakfast in our room (me and my 12yr on son )

Now we will be flying from the Birmingham airport, I also have a idea of what i will be bringing for food, poptarts those crackers that come in a box that are have different kinds, but my main question is i want to bring cercel, so what do you guy's think about if i froze a half gallon of milk ( I mean froze solid) my flight is only 1:30 long and then how ever long it takes my luggage to make it to my room?
I will be bringing a cooler, please let me know your thoughts, like its to much trouble just buy it at POP.

Thanks
Brooke :flower:

I plan on just bringing the dry cereal and buying the individual milk cartons in the food court. I have down this in the past 2X. My only concern is for some reason it leaked. And does FAA allow this? Good Luck in your travels. . .

Opps....Forgot to say thanks!!!!

The pool times may change in September but we just returned yesterday and the pool hours at the Hippy Dippy Pool were from 7am - midnight. The lifeguards went off duty at 11pm and I'm not sure how early the lifeguards actually started. I will say that I was very impressed with the Lifeguards. At any given time while they were on duty you could count 5-6 guards around the Hippy Dippy Pool and only one was stationary in a chair, the rest were constantly moving and very alert. My children enjoyed the time at the pool as much as they did the times in the parks.
