The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

Yes Kala ... you have it right. I was initially confused until a co-worker tipped me off the other day. I called in to question it with CRO and was thrilled to know I had it wrong and still had plenty of time to change my request. I would have been so disappointed if we had rooms "close by" but without a door between. Fingers crossed that we get our wish.

Actually, I think that's reversed. I think connecting is with a door that opens and adjoining means next to each other. :teeth:

Great FAQ thread! I made it through the first 17 pages, but I have to ask this question:

Is there anyplace to get food at midnight or 2am, at Pop Century? Our flight isn't landing until midnight, so by the time we get to PC it'll be around 1-2am.

No, sorry but their store "Everything Pop" closes at midnight...I would stop somewhere at the airport and grab a bite. THere are vending machines in the buildings as a last resort.

Thanks to those who helped answer my question about hooking up DVD player. I now have another question. I have decided to request a refridgerator for my stay at Pop. Can anyone tell me how big it is?? I'm just wondering what kinds of things can fit. Will it hold a gallon of milk plus a few other things???

Thanks in advance.

Great news!!! My mom and myself have decided to join my sister and her boyfriend on their trip to WDW! We will be there this Saturday (20th) until Thursday (25th) at Pop Century!

I stayed there last year and had a great time with my parents! We were in the 50's section on Hourglass Lake! Like I've said tons of times, it was like a lake-view at a Value! I'm going to try and get another room in that area again, wish me luck!

This will be the FIRST TIME I have ever been to WDW more then once in a year, I was just there July 28-August 3!!! I'm really grateful, but I think I deserve it after all the school/work I've done. I helped out on the last trip by paying $900, a lot more then splitting it three ways. This trip will pretty much eat up all my savings from my most recent job (9 months), but it's worth it.

I just got another job at Giant Stadium here in NJ selling souvineers..... commission so it's a great job! I'll make it back pretty quick with the money one can make each concert/football game

But anyway, back to Pop Century. I can't wait to stay here again! We were just at POFQ and while we liked it, POP was just as enjoyable!

I'm going to do a behind the scenes tour at Epcot after I had an AWESOME time on the Behind The Keys tour at MK!

I'll be posting more in the next couple days!

We had a refrigerator at POP. It is similiar to a dorm refrig. We had half of gallon of milk in the door along with 4 bottles of water. We also had grapes, cherries, cheese sticks, pudding, Gatorade in the refrigerator. I am not sure if you could fit a full gallon in there or not. You would probably have to remove the wire shelf to fit a gallon sized container.

Have fun at POP! I know we did!! :cool1:

We are currently booked for Pop for our December trip (me, DD's 16, 13 and 7) - I have read previously that the A/C is on a sensor and shuts off when there is no motion in the room. Any truth to that? I like to keep my room cool and would very uncomfortable to come back to a warm room or to wake up in the middle of the night sweating. Please help - I'm honestly considering swtiching to a moderate, but don't really want to spend the extra $$$.

Thanks,
Tammy

Tammy,

I stayed at the PC twice. July 04 room 308 in the 70's bldg...and it was freezing! Then I stayed in room 3440 this past July, in the 50'S bldg....NOT SO COOL there. The thermostat was set @ 68...BUT IT WAS at best 76 degrees.
I believe this is a "hit or miss" situation at the POP. It was BROILING out the last week of July, some of the rooms has lots of condensation on the windows & some didn't. This told me that some of the rooms have a better A/C then others.
I truly believe that the thermostats just control the air venting...They really are not individual A/C's in each room.

ALL that said...I dont think this will be a issue for you in December.

Does anyone have the same problem I do? When I book my trips and I'm planning, I always think I didn't plan a long enough trip. I know that a 7 day trip with 5 days in the park and the first night at Downtown Disney is plenty but I still think...Oh I should have planned for a longer trip. UGH. I do the same thing with spending money but we never spend it all. We went on a 5 day trip 3 in the park in January this year!!

It feels like I haven't been in 5 years!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I think I am interestedin the 70's section. Can someone tell me more about this? Also, I like the buildings where the big wheel is.....what are those building numbers??

Okay, I've pulled out my map from Pop...let's see. Indeed, the 70's bldg has the Big Wheel. Also the Mickey phone icon. I don't believe it has it's own pool but the walk to either the Hippy Dippy pool or the Computer pool is not a long one. I would certainly request the Big Wheel section..it is closest to Classic Hall. At least it looks like it from my map from Pop.

I'm sure this has been asked before but it is such a long post... Does anyone know if I can buy a 1/2gal of milk at the POP for my dd's 3 & 14months? Thanks in advance for the help!!

Yes you can and it is $3.99 (or was in June anyway).

I just switched our December ressie from WL to Pop. Just saved like $800. Since this is a surprise trip, I wanted to keep the budget down.

WE stayed at Pop for one night in 2004, I'm really looking forward to 7 nights in December.

I paid extra for the preferred view, I hope it's not a waste of money. Any opinions on this??

Actually it isn't a preferred view... it is a preferred building which just means that it is a bit closer to the lobby, food court, main pool and bus stop. You can have very good 'views' in the other areas of the resort and you can actually be closer to the lobby/food court etc. in non-preferred buildings than in parts of the preferred buildings. It is all up to what is important to you. We've stayed in the 50's (which was my favorite so far), the 60's/preferred (which was very close to everything) and the 90's (which was a bit of a hike after a long day, but still great) and loved them all.

HI! We were in the big wheel building in July. I highly recommend it. We were on the end by Classic Hall. The location was perfect. Right next to the food. Right next to bus stop by going the back way. I know LOTS of people swear by the 50's, but from where we were they had a much farther walk to get to the buses.

There is no pool, but you are right next to the playground and pop jets if you have kids. And there are 2 pools near by. The Big Wheel building is 70's B. Have fun!

Small appliances are not allowed. If you want to prepare hot meals in your room consider booking a different resort with a kitchen.

Does this apply to coffee makers too?? i sure hope not, not sure i'd survive 10 days of bad coffee :rotfl:

Do any of you know what a good room request would be if what we were most wanting was less noise all around. I was thinking of asking for a water view. We had that last time and really never had any problems with noise. I remember being really glad we didn't pay to be near the pool! We walked all over the property and nothing seemed too remote to us.

Maybe "lake view, anything but the 90's," how does that sound?
