Does this apply to coffee makers too?? i sure hope not, not sure i'd survive 10 days of bad coffee :rotfl:

This brings me to posting a question that has been nagging at the back of my mind for months. I remember reading (possibly in this thread) that the coffee at the food court at POP is just awful (Nescafe? isn't that instant?). Is this true? If I don't have my morning coffee within about 1-2 hrs of waking, I get a headache. So it is a medicinal need actually. :teeth:

Is the coffee at POP really that terrible?

If so, where can I get a good (or even just "decent") cup of coffee as soon as I enter MK, EPCOT and MGM? (I realize that I may need to post this as a seperate thread on the restaurant board)

Do any of you know what a good room request would be if what we were most wanting was less noise all around. I was thinking of asking for a water view. We had that last time and really never had any problems with noise. I remember being really glad we didn't pay to be near the pool! We walked all over the property and nothing seemed too remote to us.

Maybe "lake view, anything but the 90's," how does that sound?

I think it would be a good idea to also request a higher floor as I have heard that the noise level is much less on the upper floors and with the elevator it's not that difficult to get to your room. We have had 2 rooms in the Big Wheel building of the 70's section, one right above the Big Wheel facing towards the center courtyard and one on the back of that building facing a grassy area and the 80's building. The one facing the courtyard was considerably noisier in general and in the other room we hardly heard anything except passing guests and flushing toilets :rotfl:

We don't have a problem with the Food Court Coffee, at least to "get us up and going". There is also coffee bar to get a much better cup of coffee in the food court, on the left side closer to the bar area, I think they also sell pastries. This coffee is not included in the Mug Refill plan, and I'm not sure how early they open, but it's definitely better coffee and expresso than what you get from the machines for free mug refills. We also love to stop at the Coffee Stands at the parks for a great cup of coffee, and they're not all the same. Some are definately better than others.

After already booking my trip with a 10 night stay at PC (Aug 31 - Sept 10), I wish that I would have read this forum first!! You guys are so much help!

So, I booked a preferred room, so reading the posts, that should be in the 60's area.

Couple of quick questions (hopefully I didn't miss any answers in the 90 pages of posts I read :earboy2: )................

The refillable coffee is only out of a machine? Normal coffee is not included?
Has anyone tried any cocktails from the pool bar?
How difficult is it to get to Downtown Disney? Do you have to go to the TTC first? I think I read that in order to go to Chef Mickey's, you have to go to the TTC first, is that right?
Are there any grocery stores in walking distance from anywhere in WTW?
Are the pools heated?

I think that's it for now...
Thanks!

Only 9 days, 16 hours to go........... 2nd trip to WTW from the cold white north... :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Doing a happy dance................

We I can help on a couple questions that you asked; but first off what does TTC stand for??
As for gorocery stores close enough for walking. The asnwer is no. I think for driving they are about 10 minutes away. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
As for the pools being heated. YES. They are heated to I believe 83 degrees. This is kept year around.
Yes the perferred area is the 60's building. I have been told that it depends on what you want out of your resort cause being in the 60's isn't all that special for the amount of money. They say you are closer, but others have said that other certain buildings are just as close. :confused3
I can't answer on the coffee and the bar since we haven't been there yet.
Hope this helped out alittle.

Thank you so much! TTC, I think, stands for Ticket and Transportation Center. It's right outside of Magic Kingdom. When we stayed offsite last time, this is where we had to keep changing buses.

I definately wouldn't have gone to a preferred room, if I knew how close the 50's and 70's were. Oh well, now I know for next time.. princess:

To finish answering your questions you do not have to go to the TTC to get to DTD. (Unless things have changed since our last stay.) There is a bus from Pop to DTD but it might stop at one of the water parks first. You do not have to go to TTC to go to Chef Mickey's either. You can ride the MK bus and tell the driver you have an ADR for Chef Mickeys. He might be able to drop you off outside the CR. If not, just ride the bus to the MK and either walk over to CR or get on the monorail there and ride over to CR.

Can't answer the coffee or pool bar. Have not used those. I think your other questions were answered. Have a great stay.

To answer Taheenee, coffeemakers are definately OK. We used ours every morning. It was so nice to get out of bed and have coffee in your room before you had to get dressed and get going. We are big coffee drinkers and it was definately worth bringing. :drinking1

Will housekeeping give you a coffee maker for your room, like at the moderates?

I think the answer is no. but I'm sure someone else will know the answer if it's different.

New poster here.

I stayed at PC in Sept 2004. I was located in the 70's building, Big Wheel side, toward the back side. I actually like the room I was in because I was not far from the bus stops. I never did swim in the petal pool, but stuck to the computer pool. I really enjoyed PC, and will be staying there again in March 2006. I will never forget my first real hurricane party, with Mickey, Pooh, and the gang, and me sitting around eating a pizza. I need to get my pic of it on to my computer lol. Ok...it was my little stuffed Disney characters :rotfl: . I was stuck in PC on my last day (Sunday), had an extra day to play (monday) since I was able to delay my flight by one day cause of Hurricane Jeanne. But I still had a blast. But not sure I will spend anymore birthdays in WDW!

So far I have stayed at All Star Movies, so knew what to sort of expect of PC, and also Coronado Springs (give me the value resorts anyday).

As for the coffee, being a picky coffee drinker, I found it to be good coffee. Not sure if the commerical Nescafe is actually instant, cause this did not taste like instant. My Mom always drank instant and I thought it was nasty, not real coffee flavor. Course I put cream and sugar in it, so not sure how it is just black.

Found the food court really nice, and really enjoyed the indoor bar area with the retro arcade games...ahh...takes me back to my...errr...early 20's...sheesh...now I feel....old :p

This sounds like the same area I was in. I had a corner room, facing the small treed area, and the 80's building. Glad I had it during the hurricane, as it ended up being in the calm side. All I had to do was go around the corner, down the stairs, and cross the around to the bus area. It also was closer to the computer pool. As for the coffee makers, that is why this is a value resort, not alot of extra ammenities.

I really hope to get this same area.

Thanks for your help guys!

It seems that no one has had a real bad experience at the PC. The funny thing is that I only booked at this one resort, because it was newer than the other value resorts, and therefore, I'm assuming that there will be less things that require repairs. Boy, after hearing all the great reviews, I'm glad I'm staying at the PC.

And welcome Melwood23, I'm a newbie DIS person myself!! :earboy2:

Thank you! That was my thought too!

Nope - gotta bring your own. And even tho I did bring one - I found it was nicer to send the DH down to get coffee and bring it back to the room. :rotfl2: I enjoyed the coffee, but don't have high standards (other than not burnt) for coffee.

I'm sure that this was answered in this thread but it would take me another week to find the answer; so I thought that asking someone out here would be alot quicker.

We are going to be checking into Pop on Sept 11th. Does anyone know roughly how long the "resort" pool is open till???

Okay, I've decided I don't like the locations of any of the smoking-optional buildings at Pop :flower: . Since I would never smoke in a non-smoking room, where on the grounds can I go? Are there ashtrays around Hourglass Lake? Can I smoke (considerately, of course) at the pools, etc? Thanks in advance!

Yes to both :sunny:
