What time does the POP food court open in the mornings and how's the coffee?

I like to get an early start but I'm worthless w/o my morning Java infusion!

Thanks to anyone who can give me an answer to these. :rose:

Hi, everyone!
It is our first stay at Disney (last trip to Disneyland in 1995, stayed offsite, last trip to Disney 1992, stayed offsite) and we are staying at Pop Century with our kids, who both will be celebrating their birthdays while we are there.
We have a lot planned, but anything else I should know???? Don't laugh, but I suffer from mild panic attacks and will be *heavily medicated* for this trip, but I am still excited!!! Kids are turning 8 and 13. I know the first floor is loud, but we just had a house fire and are very weary of being higher up and will sacrifice noise for safety. Any other insider tips other than what I read here??? Thanks, guys!!

On the day of your children's birthdays stop at guest services at whatever park you happen to be in that day & they will give them a birthday pin. It is quite fun when the CM's throughout the park notice the pin & wish them a Happy Birthday.

You will love staying on-site! It is so convenient & it also makes it much easier to relax & not deal with traffic. Try to make sure you find some time to just lie by the pool & rest. Have fun!!!

Hi maxsmom!
When did you get back from POP? They were installing hairdryers during our June 3-13th trip, not that a hairdryer can help my hair with the FL weather. ;) We were in the 60s buildings. Maybe they are installing them one decade at a time! ;)

Hi! We got back around the 10th or 11th of July. Long story, but we had to leave early and I don't remember the last day exactly.

Okay, here goes: How high from the floor is the top of the mattress? I've had trouble getting in and out of some beds at Disney because they're sooo high. This was alleviated by moving to an accessible room, but I'd rather not have to move - I'd prefer to just start off in the 'right' room. Thanks!

It seemed low to us. But we have a very high king bed. OUr ds of 15 mths learned how to climb up and get down on his own while were there. Something he was very proud of!

We recently just got back and I believe the hours for everything there were from 7 am to midnight. I have no clue about coffee b/c we don't drink it.

Have fun!

The last time I was there was January, and the coffee all around Disney (including POP food court) is that syrup stuff that is yucky! The only good cup of coffee I got was at the cart outside of Animal Kingdom. I know that when I went in January there was a thread about a few places that had better coffee than that found at most locations at WDW. Try doing a search, and you may be able to find it. The ones I remember were at Animal Kingdom, (inside at a cart), and either the Swan or Dolphin has Starbucks. Good luck! :cheer2:

For the 50s section:
Is Lady smoking?
Is Jukebox nonsmoking?
Is Tramp a mix?

Want to request a building, but critical to have nonsmoking building. Although guaranteed nonsmoking room already, want to request the "right" building as well!

Thanks so much!

No. The last I heard was that Lady had successfully used the "patch" and was able to give up cigarettes for good!

Yes, I believe he is a blend of Brussels Terrier and Schnauzer.

Unless they have changed since June, the Lady building is mixed. We had a smoking room on the 4th floor & in Feb. on the 3rd floor.

I thought I'd post this here so those looking for reviews can find it.

Back from POP, Mixed Review

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's say my 1st impression at about 9 am w/ my CM wasn't great. I was trying to be very friendly he said like 2 words. I didn't get a resort map or anything. in my folder and to top that off he just said to call the number to see when my room was ready. He gave me no other info. We had know idea where our room was when we called and they gave us the number. We looked like idiots walking around there until we found a very helpful CM point us in the right way. I had decided I wasn't going to complain about any of this unless the room was something we couldn't live with. Like a smoking room.

Well we ended up with a perfect room! It was in the 70's B building on the end near the main building. We looked out over the playground. We had a super short walk to the buses. And everything else was close. TO all of you that like the 50's it seemed like quit a walk to catch the buses. I would definately request the 70's over it. OUr ds 15 mth's loved the pop jets that were just outside and the kiddie pool was perfect.

The rooms were super clean and we had a toothbrush holder made for us. Mousekeeping was only in twice during our stay. We had a king bed and it was a nonsmoking handicap room, but it had a tub that we needed. It was room 453, about a third of the was down from the elevator. It was a perfect location.

The beds were like sleeping on rocks. THey were awful. It was noisy. I can usually sleep through anything. THere was a baby next door and it kept waking up. I'm just out of that phase and am no where near ready to deal with that again. Dh who usually hears everything, didn't hear anything. Yes, you can hear the toilets and such. That didn't bother me like the noisy neighbors.

Decoration is a little over the top. Buses? Well when there wasn't a line you had to wait b/c there weren't many running. When there were huge lines we had to wait forever b/c of the sheer mass of people. We had dinner at Ohana's and we watched the fireworks from our wonderful seats by the window. THis was wonderful by the way. And when we left we had to take the monorail to MK and get in that line. It took us an 1 1/2 to get back to POP. We felt like unfit parents w/ our 15 mth old. Needless to say we rented a car the next day. It would have been one thing if it was just Dh and I, but our 15 mth old son couldn't hanle the waits and then the bus ride. He just didn't have that kind of patience at his age.

Bottem line: I'd stay there again if that's what we could afford. It's definately better than some of the off-site places. Hey it's Disney. However, we had the money for somewhere else and chose not to spend it on a hotel room, but save it. That was our big mistake. I will not switch from the Swan to the POP again if I have the money (or any moderate or delux). I will just suck it up and pay it.

Sorry this is so long. I quess I got on a tangent(sp) somewhere.

I've read over every page of this thread and not seen the answer to my question.

Are there any king smoking rooms? Does not matter if it is a handicapped room or not.

Could someone please answer my question and give me building and or room number?

Hi kaytieeldr!

I don't have exact measurements (I am sure if you called POP they could give em to you!) but I would say that in my experience I thought the beds were actually a bit low or at least on the average side.

Not sure what everyone else will say but there's my two cents! :goodvibes
Mike

Thanks, Mike! Actually, my TA tells me "Now everybody at Disney thinks you're nuts" which is fine because we're friends. Surprisingly, nobody at the reservations office OR Pop knew the exact answer, but like you, they think 'normal' height! Whew!

Oh, good - thanks! If you're fifteen month old can climb into a POP bed, I should have no problem! :flower:

By when do you need to know? I promise to do my best, to do my duty - no, wait, wrong line. I will do my best to find out when I'm there at the beginning of September. Let me know if that helps (and if I don't post by the middle of the month, PLEASE PM me - I'll have forgotten where I saw the question!)

So is the Tramp building a mix of both smoking and non?

No only the lady building is a mix of smoking and non. Buildings 2 (Jukebox) and 3 (Tramp) are non smoking only. There is a breakdown on the building #'s on page 80 of this thread.

There are king rooms in the lady building, but I do not know if they are smoking or not. It may be best to call Pop and ask a CM there. Sorry I couldn't help on that one.

The woman I spoke to on the phone told us that buildings 12 or 16 were the buildings she was putting us down as requesting, since they were the closest standard rooms at the Pop. Looked on the thread and couldn't find anything higher than 10 for the building numbers, anyone know where these buildings are?

Also, is there a permanent ironing board/iron in the room? If not, do I have to request one each day or can I keep it in my room for the duration of my stay? Thanks! :)
