Anyone recently back that can say if they do or do not have hairdryers in the rooms?

Heading out in 5 days so I need to know if I have to pack mine or not - I suppose with the humidity it is all moot anyway LOL

Thanks

My room didn't have one yet. They will bring you one though if you need it.

BIL called to book and was told if he paid for a preferred room he would be guaranteed a room on the first floor, near the lobby. ??? Unless something has changed, I thought preferred rooms were any rooms in the 60's buildings.

They want us to pay extra for a preferred room so we can be near them. I don't think so. I booked a couple weeks ago and requested 70's Big Wheel and I'm sticking with it.

He was also told that since we are checking in in the middle of the week all the good rooms will be gone. This kind of makes sense since most people check in on the weekend. Anyone know?

Was this CRO that said that???

Unless there have been drastic changes, which I seriously doubt, You are correct... there are no preferred rooms, just preferred buildings. The 1960's are the preferred buildings, and there is NO guarantee of floor.

In all honesty, I wouldn't recommend the 1st floor rooms anyway. Very heavy foot traffic. And pool side first floor (which is the most commonly requested) can get loud. Not to mention half the rooms are smoking optional rooms.

As for checking in... it doesn't matter what day you check in... there's always tons of people checking out.

Stick with the 1970s. It's close to the 1960s, and Classic Hall.

We also stayed in the 70s big wheel and it was great! Every morning when we opening our door, there was the giant Mickey phone and if we looked to the right there was the big wheel, and if we looked to the left there was the lake. It was a great location and it was very convenient to busses (taking the back way) and Everything Pop :) Have fun!!

Is there a floor that we should ask for in the '70s building? can you see any fireworks from there? Sorry I've never been to Pop Century.

We were on the top floor and really liked it. No traffic overhead, and not much foot traffic outside the door. There are elevators, so it's no big deal to go up and down all the time. We were able to see little tippie tops of the highest fireworks on one of the clearer nights that we were there. We could definitely hear them, though. We walked out of our room because we heard a lot of banging and people around us were wondering what it was, but thanks to the DIS, I knew :) If you really want to see the fireworks the 70s is not your best choice, though. Stick with the 50s.

I just booked POP tonight (Dec 29 - Jan 7). Wanted to split into 2 ressies (Dec 29 - Jan 1) (Jan 1 - Jan 7) in order to get discounted rate as of Jan 1. No problem there, except CM comes back and says that POP requires a minimum 4 night stay to book, so I now have to do Dec 29 - Jan 2. Does anyone know if this is a new requirement? I did the same thing last year - 2 ressies, except the 2nd ressie was for Jan 1 only (i.e. 1 day). Didn't have a problem last year - why this year?

That's odd. We also had a one night stay last year in September. We did a one night, room-only before our package started. They even fixed it so we didn't have to switch rooms after the first night (we did have to check out and then back in, though.) I would also be interested to know if this is a new policy.

I would phone back and check. On June 29 I made two ressies:
1. Dec 31, 1 night
2. Jan 1-7, 6 nights

I had no problem booking it like that. I am paying holiday rate for the first ressie ($119 plus tax) and $63 plus tax for the other 6 nights (CAA discount).
PLEASE let me know how you make out!

Hi Suzy, we will be at Pop the same time as you, only 1 day later, Jan 1-8. Maybe we will run into you sometime. I promise not to hurt you too bad when I run into you. :rotfl2:

Yes, it was CRO. I'm going to have to talk to BIL directly. DH relayed the message to me. Maybe things got messed up along the way.

We stayed in 70's Big Wheel in April and loved the location. I wish BIL would listen to me.

I requested a 4th fl room, lake view in Tramp building. Hope this helps. :) Have a great trip!!

You stated that you requested 4th floor, Tramp, but stated you stayed in rooms 3428 and 3413. Are these 4th floor rooms?? Thanks

Yes, we had 4th Floor Tramp overlooking the lake and it was room number 3418 :flower:

The first number is the building number (tramp is building 3) and the second number is the floor number.

I don't care what anyone says you CANNOt beat the location. Very close to everything. Especially if you are on the end we were. It was closest to Everything Pop.

Laurabell...we'll be there at that same time. :teeth: Oct 19-22. Also our first time staying at Pop, first trip to MNSSHP (on the 20th) and our first trip to WDW altogether. :goodvibes

Oh...also as you can see were only there for 3 nights...so unless the "4" night thing is fairly new...we were able to book for 3 at the very end of May.

How exciting! :Pinkbounc You'll have a blast I'm sure! Food & wine fest. has grown so much since I was there the first time in 1997, I can't wait to do it again!

I had also originally booked 3 nights at Pop, just changed it to 4, and this was just a few days ago...but bgula is booking over Christmas, so maybe it's a holiday thing?

Can you bring a crock pot? Didn't know if we'd be allowed, it would save a lot on meals. Nothing like coming home to a warm dinner smell!! :cool1: Thanks
