I am fresh back from a mid-february solo trip staying at the Pop, and I loved it! The theming, the Twinkie Tiramisu, all of it! hehe Now I see many people on here wanting to make sure that they do not have rooms that expose them to pool noise, etc. I am the oposite. I stayed ground level in the 60s (preferred room) with a room right off the pool. Yes there was noise but I liked that and all the hustle bustle of people going too and from the parks. I have made a res for late may/early June in a preferred room again and was wondering if there was any advice on when to call/write (which is best?) to see if I can get in a similar room next time? I have seen some people say the week before, 3 days before, ???

Thank you!
Mike

p.s. So glad to have found these forums! Gives my co-workers a break from my incessant Disneyworld chatter! hehe

many people here on the boards suggest to fax them 4 days prior to check-in

good luck!

Well I just booked it today... I'll be there on May 4th for a night! I figure it's much easier to wake up at POP than to drive at 5:30am to get to MK in time for opening. :)

We are leaving in six days (YEAH!!) but I have a question. We have a request in for the 70s lakeview but was wondering, are there any icons on the lake side or just the pool side. Our dd is 5 and I know she would probably love to look our our window at the icons.

What is the fax number for room requests? I leave for the Pop next Sunday morning & need to give it a try at least.

You'll probably be able to see the icons on the wing opposite - you'll see more if you're not on the 4th floor. I request 4th to be sure there are less icons.

Have a great time! And be sure to ask about at check-in - often they'll show you your room location and let you see what else is available if the resort is not full. :flower:

Thank you so much to everyone for all the great information -

Couple of questions --

1. Can I get to Grand Floridian for the Cinderellas Gala Feast from Pop? How long do I need to figure for a bus ride to make it in time? Going April 14...

2. Bringing 6 year old - booked preferred room before reading this :( which building should I request to be closest to the front? I'm worried about having to carry her from being tired...

3. Can I get a lanyard set at the gift store at pop?

my apologies if these answers have been posted elsewhere..

Thank you,
Lorie

2. We were in the 70's building with the big wheel (not sure what the building # is- B maybe?) When we took the DTD bus or some of the ones at the far end from Everything Pop we went the back way to the 70's section rather than going through Everything Pop. It was SO CLOSE! Literally 2 minutes or less and we were at our room.

3. When we were there in September you could purchase lanyard sets at Everything Pop. We actually got them as part of our UPH package, but I guess that won't be happening now with the new packages. ;)

It comes with a lanyard and a couple Disney pins for trading. Are you familiar with the pin trading phenomenon? :)

Is Pop very close to Downtown Disney? Would it be better to drive or take Disney transportation? Do the buses run to DTD as often as they do to the theme parks? We were thinking of spending part of one day shopping and maybe visiting Disney Quest.

Thanks!

I thought I asked this here, but now maybe it was another thread...........
Anyway, someone mentioned the arcade at POP. Is it good? we loved the one at Contemporary.....is it comparable?

Hi Liz,

When there in February the buses to DTD seemed to be running as frequently as the park buses. I went there several times during my stay.

Thanks Mike!

MinnieM3, I haven't been to POP yet, but from what I've read about the arcade it seems to be very popular and fun!

Liz - DTD is roughly 5 minutes away from POP. We drive everywhere - it's much more convenient.

Although Pop is near DTD, it's a bit more than 5 minutes... driving, it would be an average of 10 for West side, and 15 for Marketplace area... longer if traffic is heavy, or you hit all the red lights.

I don't even think travel time would be my biggest worry regarding driving to DTD. I think I would be most concerned about where to park. Keep in mind that DTD and PI, etc... are open to anyone. Florida residents shop at DTD just like shopping at a mall, you don' t have to have a ticket or be staying in WDW to go there. Therefore, there a LOT of parked cars and (from what I have seen) limited parking spaces available. In my opinion, any few minutes that you may save driving yourself will be lost in trying to find a parking space and then walking from the space you do find. I would much rather sit back and relax and have someone drop me off at the entrance even if it takes a few extra minutes (which it may not.) Have a great time- I love POP!
