YEAHOO!! I've been away from the boards for a little while because after they changed I couldn't figure out how to subscribe to threads and it was really frustrating me. I am soooo glad to see this here! I was sad when the other one was closed. Thanks Tyler! I am a POP lover and will be for life :)

At the top of the page, there is a link button called "Thread Tools" -- just click on that, and it will drop down a menu. In the menu is a Subscribe option! :)

I'm a newbie, please be patient!
This thread is soooo long I couldn't bring myself to read through all of the posts. So, I'm going to ask a question that was probably answered already and for that I apologize.
We're staying at PC the week after Easter, and really looking forward to it!! :) We haven't requested a building yet. I'm wondering what the difference is between a standard room and a preferred room (I think that's what it's called) besides price. Are they different floors or wings? Thanks for your responses.

There are no preferred rooms, only buildings. Preferred Buildings are the 1960s.

Thanks! So a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor room in any other building is fair game in the way of "requests"? (We're not 1st floor people and would prefer a nice view of something.)

First floors are common requests, even though there are 2 elevators in every building... so getting 2, 3, or 4 would be no problem at all.

Am wondering if there is a business center at POP? or one that a guest can use at another resort? Would like to checkin for return flight online the day before we leave POP.

Thanks Tyler....I figured that one out now :)
Now I need to figure out how to quote someone! ;)

Toadie,
I do not believe that POP has a business center. We used our own laptop to access the internet and that worked for us.

Hi Lesley (or anyone who knows the answer):

I'll have a lap-top with me too and will need to do a little work while there. I was thinking of just completing my work and saving it to diskette and then taking it with me when I go to UCF and using a computer in one of the labs there to transmit it ... but it would be so much more convenient to actually have on-line acess in our room at night.

Was there a data port in the room or did you have to go somewhere else? Hi-speed or regular dial up? Are you charged by the minute? I just got so frustrated last time I tried to use a dial-up connection in a hotel room and could never get connected that I was ready to :badpc:

Thanks!
Elaine

We just plugged into the phone line so it was dial up. We used AOL. BE CAREFUL even the local numbers can be long distance, we were surprised with a 100 dollar long distance bill - luckily they adjusted it for us since I guess they have this happen a lot. Get a list of LOCAL AOL numbers before you connect so you don't have the same problem.

Lesley

Isn't there a data port under the table in the room? We didn't have a lap top, so we didn't use it, but I think I remember seeing some kind of phone or internet jack on the wall by the table. Anyone?

The first page of this thread lists local AOL access numbers. :)

Yes, there is a modem port under the table, so that you don't need to unplug the phone. There's also one built into the phone.

Easy as pie! At the bottom right corner of every post, there are two buttons. The larger button will take you to the editing screen, and will have the post pre-quoted so that you can edit out the parts that you don't need. This editing screen allows you to change font styles, add smiles, and all sorts of other things.

The smaller of the two buttons is the quick reply. It activates the Quick Reply box on the bottom of the page. This box has a check-box to ask if you want to quote the post or not. :)

Hope that helps!

As you can see, it did! Thanks, Tyler! You're always so helpful :) I guess if I looked more closely I could have figured that out. I've been known to have Jessica Simpson moments every now and then :)

You know, come to think of it we did plug in under the table, guess I was having a Jessica moment as well : )

Since the Pop Century doesn't have a business suite to use, where can I go to print my airline boarding pass while I'm at WDW? Anyone have a suggestion?

You can TRY the front desk... they have internet access, and all the airline sites were bookmarked last time I used them. We were always told that if the reservation required personal information (that we didn't already have) we couldn't print them out. But I'd imagine if it's just a confirmation number or something, they could do it. No guarantees, though.

My MIL first WDW trip is this June and we'll be at POP! She desperately wants everything perfect. She called Disney yesterday to see what building we'd be in, asking if it was in fact the Mowgli and Baloo. The CM told her, there is no Jungle Book at POP. She was confused and asked what building is fun for kids, the CM said well, there is Legos in 70's. My MIL is thinking there are Legos to play with or something and changes to this, FROM 60's. I wanted to be in 60's because she needs a short walking distance because of a recent knee surgery. We are now stuck as the rooms in 60's are booked of course. Should we keep checking to see if we can switch, or stick with 70's? We are going with a 2 and 4 yr old too. Thanks for any input!
