This is probably wishful thinking but on our last trip in '05 we were lucky enough to stay at the POLY. A huge highlight for the kids was seeing what towel animal would be left by mousekeeping! Has anyone received one at the POP? I wondered if it would be okay to ask nicely on my tip envelope for one on my DS's birthday. I understand it is just a request and would not be upset if it doesn't happen. I may start learning on my own the kids loved it so much!! Any thoughts?

Here is a unique one we got during our last stay at POP. It was ironic because I HATE clowns. I've been afraid of them my whole life, and my fiance thought it was hilarious and teased me with it all week!!

On my two previous trips to Pop I received towel animals every day. On my most recent trip (January 07) there was one small towel animal in our room when we arrived. During the week we found only one more in spite of the fact that we left mousekeeping tips daily. I must admit that I was disappointed since it was our honeymoon and I wanted my bride to see mousekeeping at its best. Hopefully the Disney Cruises still do towel animals.

I know that it's a small matter but Disney is known for its attention to detail. I hate to see such a charming one disappear.

That clown would freak me out. I hate clowns.

We are staying at the POP June 2-10.

I hate clowns too. And costume characters...EXCEPT for Disney ones. :confused3

But I digress...We had towel bunnies and a towel toothbrush holder. Not a new one everyday, just those over the course of our stay. Our mousekeeper left us nice little notes, and we did have the same one the whole week.
She left the kids toys in poses in the window too.

It all depends on the mousekeepers.

I don't think they are required to do such things, and on hectic weeks, may not have time.
I think being nice to your mousekeeper in the way of a daily tip helps, but its no guarentee. It's just luck of the draw.

And even if you don't get any, you're still in WDW, so it's all good. :wizard:

What kind of tips do you leave for your Mousekeeper?

Ok, keep in mind I had 6 (now 7) kids between my two connecting rooms.
[I do try to tidy a bit each morning, especially to round up the kids toys, etc., but there is still the dirt that many people can cause.]

I normally would tip $1 per person, per day for a group like that, but dh said to round up to $5, so we tipped $5 per day, per room.
We leave them in decorated envelopes, and leave notes on them depending on what they did the day before ("thanks for the towel animal, the kids really loved it!")
I do it per room in case two different mousekeepers are assigned to the rooms, AND I do it per day, because they might not be assigned your rooms all week.

Small price to pay for someone to leave us a very fresh, comfy room to come home too.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Absolutely! Just being at WDW is ... all good!!! Towel animals are admittedly a small detail. I did notice that mousekeeping got to our room in the middle of the afternoon. In fact, one day we came back for a mid-afternoon rest break and had to wait for them to finish our room before we could go inside. We had a great conversation and said "Thank you!" In spite of the fact that it was mid-January I think Pop was rather full!

I have a question about the DDP snacks. I read that most food items under $4 qualify as a snack. Does that mean that a single bottle of water qualifies as a snack- OR - can I buy two items whose total cost equals $4?

How much is a bottle of water at Disney, anyway (I know Disney is expensive, but don't know how expensive).

I've read where other people are shipping water to their hotel rooms. I have the DDP don't know if I'll use the snack credits for other things or if I can use it for water (I like to drink water through the day)

Thanks!!:woohoo:

you can get 1 bottle of water for a ddp snack credit. I wish they would let you get items that total $4, but they only let you get 1 item. I'm not sure but I thought a bottle of water was 2.75 ??? It is outrageous, but we would get a bottle of water w/ocunter service and then fill up at water fountain. We also brought those little crystal light pouches and added it to our water bottles.

I thought water was $2.50 for a 24 oz sport bottle.

I did do the staples thing and shipped water to my resort. It was great! It was around $7.00 for 24-16oz bottles. I will be doing that again.

That's what we plan to do fill up our water bottles at thefountain and use the single serve packets.

I've heard about this before. exactly what do you do?? I know we spent more than $7.00 on water while we were there and I'm sure we didn't get 24 bottles.

I asked the same ????... If you go to staples.com look up water bottles...they have a list of water bottles and staples will deliver to the resort. There is many people that do this....I never had. But really considering this if we fly. I another place is..http://gardengrocer.com/cust_service.php

I hope this help...:)

If you have a Staples rewards card which you can get for free on line or at a store then shipping is free. Then you just do an online order for water and have it shipped to your resort. I address it to my name at the resort and then put "hold for guest arriving May 6th" on the special shipping instructions. Only some brands are available in FL. I've used Deer Park. I just did this yesterday for a friend. At first it said Deer Park was out of stock so I put in Poland Spring but once I had a FL shipping address it said that was out of stock so I had to go back and change it to Deer Park which worked once they knew it was going to FL not my home state. It only takes overnight to ship so I only order a couple of days ahead.

Just double checking...There IS a blow dryer in the rooms at POP, right? I think I am NOT going to pack mine, so I want to just be extra sure about it! I leave for the airport in 3 hours!! :cool1:

about those hair dryers, are they of decent strength? i have long hair on the thick side and if i want to wear my hair straight, i must have a hair dryer that's not wimpy. i know some hotels' hair dryers barely blow air out. are the ones at pop fairly strong?

My guess is that they are the typical wimpy ones. I have a super strength one at home too. But I figure for vacation I will be wearing a ponytail most of the time. I think it will be Ok for me for a few days. But not if I wanted to do some major styling.
