I think that whoever started this board deserves a greaet big hug. I have never been to disney before and I am so excited. we are staying at the POP from May 12 - 19. All of the information that I found on this thread is wonderful. :cool1:
The only thing that I am a little confused about is the transportation. but other than that all of the information is awesome.

thanks.

Hey - We'll be at POP for the first time on the 19th also! My DS will be celebrating his 7th birthday! :bday:
It's our 2nd trip to Disney World, but the first was almost 3 years ago. Don't know who's more excited, our kiddos or DH & I! :flower1:

Just trying to figure out the plan for morning coffee and milk for cereal that we're taking. Are there ice machines at all the buildings? And is there a separate hotel shop to buy milk at?

We are arriving on the 19th too!
Ice machines in all the buildings. Milk is available in the food court.

Thanks for the info! I think we'll take a collapsible cooler for ice. We'll probably only have milk, maybe juice. Last time (and only other time) that we went to Disney, we stayed at CBR. We had to rent a fridge at that time, and we made a grocery stop through our towncar service. But we had so much food left at the end of our trip! :crazy2:
My DH had us at the parks from open til close, so hardly any time spent in the room! :bounce:
This time, we're only taking a minimal amount of food from home - cereal, breakfast drink, peanuts, dried apricots. That should do it!
The 19th!! :jumping1: I'm too excited!!!

the cooler thing is a good idea! thanks for that! we usually rent a fridge, but this wold save us $$ and give us something to use for the drive! (first time driving to WDW!!)

We arrive on 5/20 and will be there until 5/28  I am SOOOO excited! I haven't been to POP yet - but I am looking forward to trying it out!

Ok - so, as far as the shampoo-they-give-out -thing goes - is it an "all in one" with conditioner in it, too? Or just shampoo?

The last time I went to Disney we were at POR, and I remember there being a 'quiet' pool. Im assuming that beings this is a value resort there isnt a quiet pool here correct? Which leads to my next question..is there a closing time on the pool at all, or will I be able to go swimming whenever even if there is no lifeguard on duty... Thanks in advance for your help..

Okay i ran and grabbed a bottle of shampoo from our trip last year at POP! hahaha and it does say Shampoo & Conditioner ( i still bring my own, cause i sooo don't feel the conditioner!!)

from the Officail Guide:

There are 3 pools (1 main 2 quiet) at POP.
Main Pool
Bowling Pin Pool
Computer Pool

i could have sworn they were 24 hours, but not positive on that info.
here is the # if you want to double check:
407-938-4000

Pools "close" at midnight. Lifeguards are off duty at 10pm most nights.

It was noted that you can get refrigerators at an additional charge, unless for Medical Reasons only. Does a diabetic constitute as a medical reasons? My DH stores his insulin in the refrigerator. However, not thinking we forgot to request one. Is is possible to request on once we check into POP?

Thanks :thumbsup2

While it is certainly possible to request the fridge when you get there, if it were me, I would do this now. You do want it to be in the room when you get there so you can get DH's meds in there ASAP, and if you wait to request it, it may take housekeeping some time to get it to your room. Since you do need the fridge for meds, it should be free, but I have read on the boards that the fridges for meds are smaller than the $10 a night ones, so you may want to confirm that if you are planning on needing a fridge for things other than meds.

medical fridges are the same size. we needed one for DDs meds last year, but we usually get one anyways. Every time fridge has been the same size :)

Definately call and request one ahead of time though. The fridge has always been in our room upon check-in.

I had my meds present at check-in just in case, i didn't want them to think iw as scamming the system or something.

We are also bringing a collapsable cooler with us. I think that it will help with ice and any drinks that we have in the room

We are going to be at POP in August(with free dining). We were there last year at the same time(also with free dining) and we loved the hotel. We were in the 70's section (1st floor facing the lake) and requested the 70"s this time too. Just loved the area we were in last time. Don't think it would be considered Prefered- I hope not anyway.
:woohoo: Can't wait!!!!

What day is his birthday? My DD's is the 22nd.

I was just at POFQ last week and they sold quarts of milk in the gift shop. They may sell quarts at Pop too-I've never been so I don't know if it would be gift shop or food court. The food court at POFQ was pretty small.

I am not sure if this is true for Pop or not. I heard at some resorts they have milk in the food court and the gift shop and it is usually cheaper in the gift shop. Maybe someone knows for sure. Have a good time.

An answer and another question:

For fridges for medical reasons I would highly recommend calling NOW and having it on your reservation. Be sure to mention that it is for medical- and that goes for any requests made for medical reasons. That way in case (and I doubt this would happen but better safe than sorry) someone else requests a fridge and it is them or you then you would get first 'dibs' since yours is a medical necessity. We've made a point that all medical requests are listed as medical requests and we've never had a problem. We always request fourth floor non smoking with a fridge, all for medical and have never had requests denied. Disney is awesome about special needs.

Now for my question- I finally had to stop taking pill form meds and switch to injectables. I have to have my shot EXACTLY one hour before eating breakfast and dinner. Is there somewhere in the parks I can store meds in a fridge during the day? I was thinking maybe first aid but I don't know for sure so any help is appreciated.
