There was some talk on page 100 or so about using a tension rod and a shower curtain to make a divider curtain between the vanity area and the rest of the room. Does anyone have an idea how long the tension rod should be?
Thanks!

Hi! You are going to have a great time at POP!! When we went we were an adult only group also.. we stayed in the 50's in Building 1... it was about a 3 min. walk to the Bus and the classic hall. It was right near the 50's pool as well, but not over looking it. It was quite, didn't hear any kids, but i think we were up and out of the hotel before any kids woke up! lol I haven't stayed in any of the other buildings so i can't say what they are like! i know that we loved the 50's!!!
HAVE FUN!! :cool1:

Thank you, that's great :) I'll see if I can make a request.

I also read to use self-stick hooks instead(I would suggest the 3M Command hooks so you don't have any chance of damage). Obviously the hooks would be MUCH easier to transport.

Good idea about the hooks. I've used those before and they come right off of the wall with no trouble or damage. Why didn't I think of that????
I love this place.

To those who have travelled with babies/toddlers: where do you put the crib? At AKL there was a place in front of the vanity that was not visible from the rest of the room. We were able to keep it dark for him and still watch TV or get ready in the morning. WOuld the shower curtain trick work for a crib?

Unfortunately - we did not have any luck with the privacy thing and the crib. Luckilly, our son was so tired he would have slept through anything! The problem is that the rooms are just too small for that.

We are staying at Pop Century and the night we arrive I have dinner reservations at 7PM at Boma. I'm wondering what the easiest way to get to AKL would be? I definitely prefer to take the buses as opposed to spending any money on a taxi or car rental. We are laid back people and I don't mind spending some extra time getting there, especially on our first night! Any info would be helpful...thanks! :Pinkbounc

First, make sure you have plenty of time - I'd be at the bus stop at Pop by 5:30. Then, you'll have to take a bus to a park or to Downtown Disney, and transfer there to the AKL. You could just play bus roulette and take whichever one comes first, or you could choose the AK bus, because it will take you the least out of your way. Coming back home again, do the same thing in reverse. Depending on what time it is, and how late the parks are open, you might need to go through Downtown Disney, but chances are that at least the Epcot buses will still be running.

Having said all that, to answer your question about what would be the easiest way to do it, it would definately be a cab. I doubt you'd spend more than $20 there and back - if anybody knows better, feel free to correct me. However, if saving money is more important, then you can certainly get there via bus, if you've got enough time.

The AK is pretty close to the Pop, so I would take the bus to the AK and then just walk to the shelter for the AKL. That trip will be really short. After dinner, you got actually take bus to whatever park you want - they should all be running, since they run basically until 2 hours after park closing (maybe AK will be closed by then) - can't imagine dinner would take that long. And then hop a bus back to the POP. We liked staying at the POP in Dec. Found the buses to be dependable and found it to be very central. Just for info, on your return from AKL - the trip from POP to MK was the longest of the park runs (we drove to DtD, so can't comment on that one), so I would opt to bus to MGM or Epcot, from AKL, unless you want extra bus time that night. Those 2 were about the same distance, or at least the same time on the bus for us. (You will also find that the POP bus shelters are the farthest from the front gate for all the parks.)

Check the park hours. Take the bus that has the hours in the park thats going to be open. Rember you have to get home, so know which park your going to be coming home to. The thing to rember is the bus only takes the resort people to the parks. So when you get done there's not going to be a bus to take you to your resort. You go back to the park thats still running buses and hop on your resort bus from there. Hope this helps. I've had problems with the downtown disney bus so I avoid them. :thumbsup2 Tina

Hey Litebrite!
Like your signature photo. Been there, done that!!! Lucky for me that DD loves the people-mover thing. Good for resting the feet and cooling off!

Good Question... I'm not sure... I do know that outside my room there was a sign that it was a non smoking room... Not sure if that means there are smoking rooms... you could call and ask if no one knows the answer

Guessing around 11

11:00 sounds about right, but I'm not sure. If I get the flight I want, we should be at Pop around 10--10:30. Our bodies will be ready for "lunch" and not "breakfast" since we would have been up well before dawn to catch our flight. We'll settle for breakfast if they are still serving it, or maybe we'll head straight to a park after check-in and eat there.

I checked my POP map (the one they give you at checkin)...doesn't seem to be a 'smoking permitted' bldg. But if I remember correctly, there are certain areas of a bldg that have smoking rooms. I have stayed in two bldgs in the 50's section so far. In bldg 2, I was on the third floor in the far back and it was a non-smoking room. Last Dec I stayed in bldg 1, and noticed passing some rooms that were not non-smoking. They have little thingies on the doors that tell you if smoking is not allowed in that room.

There are smoking rooms/floors because non-smoking is available on request only - it is not guarenteed. Somewhere in this thread someone listed the floors/buildings but I wasn't able to find it.

Pixiedust34, there are always sandwiches and salads available in the refrigerator section of the food court. I think you could put together a decent lunch if the hot food isn't ready.

Here's the deal... I'm driving to Orlando Saturday the day before our check-in to POP (We are staying at Caribe Royale Resort). My plan is to get to POP as early as possible on Sunday (guessing 8:30am) and doing a pre-check-in so we can get our park hopper passes and run to MGM (via POP bus etc). I'm guessing this should not be a problem, but figured a quick post here would not hurt with so many nice folks posting and replying. :thumbsup2
