For anyone who has been at the POP recently......I have a 12 year old who is busting to know the following!

1) Has the 1970's sign in the front of the bldg been put back up!
(it was originally damaged during the hurricanes of 04)
2) Are the frozen Coke machines still out of order...alot?

Thanks

When we were there at Christmas, the 70's s sign was up to the best of my knowledge. And the slush machines were up and down. There are 2 of them, so usually one is up and running! No worries :teeth:

Hi everyone! Thanks to all who contributed to this very informative thread!!

I have one question though - does the Pop Century have a baby sitting service? We are going to be staying at Pop May 3 - May 9. There are four of us, myself, wife, daughter 5 and daughter 2 (still in diapers). It would be nice to go enjoy Epcot on the EMH night without the kids for a change. (Maybe drink around the world - I've heard that's a blast...)

Any help would be appreciated!

I think that they replaced the machines with a better model. Now when the slushie isn't frozen enough the machine will actually not let you use it and has a lighted button stating so. We had very good luck with it our last trip there and were able to get both Coke and Raspberry slushies everytime that we wanted one.

Is there anywhere at POP that I can check in 24 hours in advance for a Southwest airlines flight? I won't have a computer with me. If so, how much does it cost for access?

ºOºJoe, POP does not have a babysitting location on site, and your 2 yr old is too young for the Disney clubs. Check out this link to Allearsnet.com to read about the services that will come to your room, like Fairy Godmothers. http://allearsnet.com/pl/childfaq.htm

jjan, that's great news about the new machines! Let's hope they are working in May!

cujobugs, I know that you can now check in using your cell phone. When you get to the airport, you then print off your boarding pass. My dh had luck one night by going to the front desk (it was around 2 am) and they printed off the boarding passes for him. Otherwise, there are not computers available for guest use. Check this link for more info about wireless checkin. http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/wireless_access.html

I read on the Transportation Board that Guest Services at Pop will print your boarding pass.

My kids don't know about our surprise trip yet, but I'm willing to bet that those frozen Cokes will be a highlight of staying at Pop for them!

Thank you geetey... Oh, and I love your signature. Die-hard Cardinals fan here... Have you seen the new stadium yet?

You know, they probably will be since that is one of the main deciding factors of our several trips there. They are THAT good. I LOVE the blue ones and my DD loves the Coke ones. We usually try to drink a couple a day. I just wish that CSR had the frozen slushee machines since now we are hooked there with the great pool and resort. I do LOVE Pop though!

we are headed there soon and you guys make it sound greater then I ever expected!!!!!!! Cant wait to get there!!!!!!!!

Just go to guest services. They will print your boarding passes for Southwest. There is no charge.

I will be staying at Pop in July. I will arrive by town car at about 7:30 AM. I need to store my luggage and get checked in so I can get my park tickets. My hope is to be at MK at opening.

Will I have enough time to get the resort transportation and arrive at MK for rope drop? Or, my other thought is to have the car wait for me during check in and drop me at the Contemporary and either walk or take the monorail to MK. Thoughts? Thanks.

HOOOORAH!

Just booked and made payments for my trip in July 10th-14th!!!
This is my first time staying at POP, I am going with my dbf so it should be quite fun! Its my first time going apart from the family, its so dunny how fast we all grow up :goodvibes

YES! We were lucky enough to score 2 tickets to opening day! I just haven't updated my signature yet. ;)

Any plans to see a game this year?

The buses start running at 8 am, so if you catch that first bus you will DEFINITELY be at rope drop. I am guessing that 8:15-8:20 am is the latest bus you should plan on catching if you want to be there at opening.

Are you traveling solo? I think you should be able to make it. :)

I think it is faster to walk from the Contemporary rather than ride the monorail through the Poly & Grand. Another option would be to get dropped off at the Grand and grab the monorail there, if you don't want to walk and get sweaty so early in the day! ( I know we are always in a hurry to get there and wait! LOL)

Thank you, geetey. Yes, I am traveling solo for this part of the trip. No need to keep turning around and waiting for someone to catch up! I will just rely on the Disney transport that morning and have the driver go on after dropping me at Pop. How close to the main lobby is the bus area?

Just right out front and to the right. You can go out the hall next to Everything POP or out the door of Everything POP gift area.
They have great transportation at the POP.

Yes we went to the April 15 game VS the Reds. It was a bummer of a game - Cards lost 1-0. New stadium is very nice, but I expected it to be more finished than it was. We have a four game ticket pack and our last game is in July. Hopefully the park will be mostly finished by then...

Still missing the house I grew up in though if you know what I mean...
