Last year we went shopping until 3 when we could check in. I think I read somewhere, where someone said you can check in early you just won't be able to get your room until 3, is this correct? We want to get the most of our first day and though it's a 7 hr. drive we leave early in the morning. If we can check in early, what time does anyone suggest is the best time to check-in??

When we were there in June we arrived at Pop Century around 7:35 am and checked in. Our room wasn't ready but we were able to our Key To The World cards which had our park tickets and meal plans on them. We were given a number to call later in the day to see if our room was ready.

We headed to Magic Kingdom and spent the day at the park. Around 2pm we called and was told that our rooms were ready.

I would check in early, at least this way you can at least have the option to visit the parks and maybe grab a bite to eat. popcorn::

Great! Thanks, so if we get there around 1, we should be able to check in and even if our room isn't ready, we can at least walk around the resort and get a bite to eat or even better, hit the pool!!:thumbsup2

I went in sept the week after labor day... checked in at like 9 am and my room was ready... never again with a red eye from LA

Check in when you get there. If your room is not ready, they will give a phone number to check and see if your room is ready. You can usually check in your luggage as well, to get it out of your car or if you flew in. You can go to a park or shop if you choose to.

Remembder to step outside and show your room key to borrow a cart to get your luggage to your room. There is a $250 deopsit on your cart while you have it, so don't lose it.

Cheers!

I like to stay on the upper floors. I think it is less noisy than the ground floor. Also there are little lizards outside and I would be afraid that one might come in my room on the ground floor. We stayed in the 60's building away from the pool on the top floor. It was close to the main building and very quiet.

I have a long winded question I hope someone can answer! We're staying on a room-only ressie for one night, as the package with the "free add -ons" starts the next morning. can we check into our "package" the night before it starts when we check into our "room only" that we have just for that first night? Hope soemone knows! Thanks!:goodvibes

I'll be interested to hear the replies to this. I am also about to add on a room-only night to our stay, and it occurred to me that by adding it on at the beginning of the trip we probably won't have access to our park tickets and dining plan credits. If that's the case, we may need to shift the package booking up one day and then add the room only reservation for the LAST night. Sounds like a hassle, so it would be great if you could actually access those things the day before. Somehow I doubt it, though.

No you cant do that. right now you have two very seperate reservations and they will not let you have access to the things you get with your package until you check in uder that package. You can probably just do DTD that first night, resort hop, play min. golf or hang out at the pool

We did a similar thing when we went in 2004, and we had to check in for our room only ressie and just go to DTD and swim and stuff on the first night. Then we had to check out and re-check in the next morning for our package. Usually you won't have to switch rooms, but make sure they know when you do your first check in if you would prefer to not have to. Have fun!!! We love POP!!

We'll be checking in around 10:45-11PM...our latest ever because we actually got a cheaper flight (by like over $100) if we arrived later that evening instead of afternoon the next day. Do I need to let them know I'll be arriving that late? And also, do you think I'll have a problem getting a non-smoking room if I have that confirmed as a request in my reservation?

Thanks!!!

just wanted to check in,
just got back from 7 days at the pop.
came to this thread to research,
and wanted to say the hotel was great.

i still hate traveling on the bus, but at least you get off at one location.
the room was great, the cleaning was excellent, pool was warm and fun.
it was great.
slushes were a huge hit with the kids.
thanks to the morons next door that left a tray of food outside their door.
the birds had a party and made a mess.
(it was like a hitchcock movie)

We have stayed several times in the 70's buildings as a standard room. Earlier in this thread someone listed the 70's as preferred. Has this been changed?

Someone posted a picture of the layout with the preferred rooms. If it was correct, only certain parts of the 70's was preferred. If I run across it, I'll come back and post. Someone else may know right off the top of their head. The parts facing away from the food court and pool did not show up as preferred on that particular map.

our room was great
#6106 (I think)

first room from classic hall in 70's on ground floor facing the water
right behind the soul groove eight track

here is a map of preferred with the yellow indicating preferred
(we were not preferred)

p.s. we left our MagicKindom universal fast passes in the Bible
they are expired by the time you get them but might still work
if they dont check dates.
