Is it difficult to get a two double bed room connecting with another two double bed room? I've seem a lot of posts about a king bed room connecting to two double beds, but no one specifically mentioned getting a double connecting to a double....Is there a specific bulding that I can ask for to increase the odds that I will get double/double connecting rooms?

On our last trip, connecting (not adjoining rooms) was probably our 2nd or 3rd request. We were traveling with 3 in 1 room and 2 in the other and received connecting rooms with double beds in each. We were in the 60s.

Hope that helps!

I believe that dbl/dbl connecting rooms are the norm rather than the exception. Check out the resort floor plan on page 2 of this thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=698727&page=2

There seems to be only a few (6 or less) kings per bldg.

We had dbl/dbl connecting rooms on the first floor of the wing behind the jukebox in the 50's.
We were in 2126 and 2127. (Juke box bldg, first floor, rooms 26 and 27.) On the map, if I am reading it right, it shows that 27 was to be a disabled access room, but it wasn't.

After taking a couple of days to read through this entire thread (WOW!) I have come to the conclusion that I will just let the chips fall where they may in regards to what building/room I get. My only requests on my reservation was non-smoking connecting rooms and we did not pay the extra amount to get the preferred rooms. Soooo.....it seems that the furthest (ergo least desirable to most people) buildings are the 80s and 90s. While being closer to parking they are further from the bus stop and Classic Hall.

Just how far are the farthest buildings from the food hall and bus stops? What is the worst case scenerio if the room assigning gods do not look favorably upon me LOL?

We stayed in the 90s a few years back. Distance-wise, they didn't seem very far from the main building, but the problem is that there didn't seem to be a great route to take to get there. It was very circuitous! None of the pathways were very direct.

Actually, if you are in the 80s/90s, you can cut through the parking lot to get to Classic Hall & the bus stops. It's not as far as it seems.

Could anyone tell me what I need to do to get the highest chance of the room/area I request?

Thanks :)

If you have access to Google Earth, you can use the 'Path' tab using the Ruler tool to make some measurements your self.

Of course the first step is finding Pop Century. One way to do this is to click on the menu commands "Add \ Placemarks...". Copy and paste the following coordinates:
Latitude: 28°20'59.72"N
Longitude: 81°32'36.78"W

Click 'OK'.

You should now have a pushpin on Generation Gap Bridge that you can zoom in on.

I did a couple of measurments myself testing the distance from the farthest room from the elevators to the center of the bus stop. Here's my worst case results:
Building 6 - 0.23 miles
Building 7 - 0.22 miles
Building 4 or 5 - 0.20 miles
Building 2 - 0.28 miles

On the flip side, the closes you can get to the bus stops is to have a ground floor room at the end of one of the 60's buildings closest to Classic Hall., that requires a walk of only 0.13 miles.

That makes for an 800 foot difference (less than the length of a football field) between the worst and the best.

We'll be at POP March 2-7. I need to reserve 2 connecting rooms, one for my family and one for my parents. I had planned to just do it all online, but is it possible to link the two reservations (they'll be in different names and with different credit card deposits) so we can improve our chances of getting the connecting rooms?

Is there a comments or request section on the reservation form where I can mention this? I have the offers saved, just haven't made the official reservation yet.

I would call CRO FatElvis. You will definately be more comfortable knowing that your request is going through a living human being rather than a computer.

I don't think it's difficult to get. We were in the 90's building and were asked my the CM if we wanted connecting rooms while checking in. Both were doubles.

Q: What about transportation?
Transportation from Pop Century should be very good. Because of the anticipated demand, buses will be running more frequently than some other resorts. During peak times, buses could potentially run every 5-8 minutes. Pop Century will be a “Magic On Demand” resort. (MOD will be based out of Zone 5)

Can you explain this Magic on Demand?

I enjoyed POP except for one gripe. When I checked in I told them I don't want room cleaning until 2 because I probably wouldn't be up until 1 or so. Yet on the first day, they woke me up at 11... I was annoyed, my vacation was meant for me to sleep 12 hours a day. At least they compensated me by not charging me for the night. Next day, they didn't come til 3... it was a good vacation.

Fellower Pop-ers! Dance with me!!   We leave for WDW and a week at PopC 10 days from today. Even though we live in southern Alabama we will be taking 3 days to get to WDW by taking the scenic route along the gulf coast through Seaside and Panama City Beach with Bed and Breakfast stops in Apalachicola and Cedar Key. We'll arrive at WDW on the 20th.:yay: :yay: :yay:

Can someone confirm that there are hairdryers in the rooms at POP?

We leave in 2 days!!! One less thing to pack would be great! especially since I have packed clothes for 2 seasons of weather!
Thanks!!
