I get in on the 24th. Depending on how long DME takes and how tired I am, I may stop by for a few minutes. Any idea how late everyone will be there?
Ha! I just looked at who posted this...you're my fridge swap connection, right?

The DIS Meet starts at 9:00pm because some people wanted to come earlier.
But there are many others that are not coming until after 10:00pm which was the original time.
It is very casual. Just stop by and say hi or hang out awhile.
Look for the Lime Lights party:
You can't miss us... I'm sure it will go on for a while.
Check out the link...

I'm going back to POP! Not til next summer, but hey, at least I get to start planning again! Anyone else in for July '09??

We have finally finished reading this entire thread. It has a lot of information; especially the first post (thanks Buckeye Gal). We will be there November 30 to December 7 and it will be our second trip to Pop. We have stayed at all levels of resort, but really like the food options at Pop better than the others. The first trip we stayed at the 70s building with the foolsball players in front - we had a lake view (2 doors from the end of the building) on the first floor and loved it. It was very quiet and peaceful. This year we are asking for a pool side view (preferred room) in the 50s section. We can't wait.

Hi missouridisneyfans,
We are going to be a POP the same time, we arrive 11/28 and leave for our DCL adventure on 12/6. This will be our first time as a family to WDW and my first time ever on site. We are also traveling with another family from Juneau. They have been recently and stayed at a MOD but with the additional expense of the cruise a value just made sense. POP looked like fun!! We can all hardly wait. I must look at this disboard everyday. We'll look for you LGMH's!!

Yep - I'm your fridge swapper!! :cool1:

I'm not sure how long people will be there?? I think it starts at 9pm.

I am so excited:cool1:
I just typed my room request and it is ready to be faxed tomorrow!
I also checked the weather for next week....doesn't look too bad for Florida in August. Let's hope that a 10 day forecast if fairly accurate b/c our first day in MK shows no rain clouds and a high of 89! Fingers are crossed!:woohoo:

hey mrstomrice!! We'll be there the same time!! :cool1:

My daughter and I arrive Sat the 9th and stay until the 23rd! We'll (hopefully!) be by the 50's pool and we'll be the ones with our window all decorated!!

Can you believe it's almost here!! :cloud9:

It just seems to be coming so fast! I hope it slows when we get there though! We asked for 50's with an Illumination view b/c I don't know how many late nights the boys can handle with the early EMH and I want to be able to see a lot of fireworks.
Does anyone else think the weather is a bit more tolerable than usual? I won't get my hopes up too much...oh yes, I will:)
We have been so lucky as far as rain goes, we didn't get a drop last August for a whole week! I bring my "lucky ponchos" from our honeymoon. They are lucky because in 3 subsequent trips, we have had to use them once. They are our anti-rain lucky charms! It worked for DSIL in May. Hmmm...maybe I can make big money on these:) Any offers?:rotfl:

We are going to be at Pop in 13 days :yay: We are staying in a standard room and I would like to request a room close to the main building. What buildings/floors should we request?

We stayed at PoP last year in the 60's stardard room , top floor, facing the parks and saw the fireworks. Very quiet and 4 minute walk to the main building. Room 4438. This year we are staying at ASMu.
Have a great time!!

What's worked best for us is to say "Closest to Classic Hall" and let them pick. If you name a decade, they will make that a priority, and you might end up further away.

We were parking lot side of Lady bldg/50s, and we were only 3 or 4 rooms away from the preferred, therefore only about a wing away from Classic Hall.

Have a great trip! :wizard:

What is the design on the refillable mug right now at Pop? Is it still the YOMD blue one? Just wondering what I'll be getting to add to my collection in a few weeks!

Looks like there are a few of you guys that will be there during the same time as me....:cool1:

I will be at POP September 17 - September 29!!!!

Are any of you going to the DIS Pool Party on September 24??

I will be there with DW and DD(15)
See you there!

i've seen here on DIS that some resorts leave brithday cards in you room... does POP do that and how about for a anniversary?? my husband and i will be there for our third wedding anniversary and that would be awesome if we got a card.

The staff at Pop did this for my daughter when we were there is December. We asked at the front desk for a birthday button for her and the CM asked when her birthday was who her favorite character is.

On her birthday they put a card from Mickey with a couple of balloons in the room for her.

Buckeye Gal,

Thanks for putting this thread together. We have been to WDW many times, but not ever stayed at POP. We will be staying there in December for 5 nights. The thread was very helpful to answering the many questions we have about POP.:yay:

:goodvibes :thumbsup2 THANK YOU!!!:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

This thread is awesome, and we really appreciate all the time that went into it! It has been very helpful in finding information that would normally been unavailable or difficult to find! We have been to WDW many times, but this is our first stay at the POP!

:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

You are both very welcome!! I was in your shoes a year ago myself when I started my research, and after literally weeks and weeks of collecting info for me, I figured it would be ever so nice to have it all consolidated and current in one location for all of the DIS family!! It was waaayyyy too painful of a process, and I saw no reason for other Pop newbies to go through the same pain or for the seasoned Poppers to answer the same question over and over and over again. :) I was a value resort doubter until I learned all of this stuff about Pop Century!

When you go, if you learn of anything new or if anything has changed, just PM me, and I'll post the info up on Post #1. (Needless to say, that goes for anyone of you!!) I'm going for my first time in 47 days, so I'll be doing the same! (Well, I'll leave out the PMing myself part.)

Enjoy your trip!!! :goodvibes

We just returned this afternoon from a 5-day, 4-night stay at Pop. First, I want to thank Buckeye Gal and all the rest of you who have posted on the Pop FAQ thread – this thread, particularly post #1, really helped me out as I planned.

First of all, POP is alive and well and a great place to stay! Now, a few notes:

It was me (almost 45), my DS17 and my DS14. We’ve stayed at WL, AKL, CBR (twice) and now Pop. This was a last-minute trip to use up some expiring frequent flyer miles.

I booked a standard room, no requests (we’re pretty easy to please) and got room 9411, 4th floor in the 80’s section, overlooking the Computer Pool. The room was clean, in good shape, Mousekeeping got us extra towels and fixed our hairdryer and took good care of us. Yes, for those who are interested, a towel animal greeted us, and another joined it later in our stay.

We never heard noise from adjoining rooms, other than the turbo-flush toilets, and we didn’t hear pool noise.

We had a 4-5 minute walk to the food court, and that at a normal pace. We found the food court to be great – lots and lots of good choices for our counter-service-preferring family! The tie-dyed cheesecake is amazing – someone HAS to tell me how they do that!

CM’s were all very friendly and willing to help in any way. The buses were frequent, and our longest wait was probably 15 minutes, but usually 5-10. We did all the parks and both water parks and also Downtown Disney. All the buses ran frequently. We had to stand about half the time, but we’re ok with that.

A note about the thermostats. I’ve read a lot about the Pop thermostats and not being able to override them. Ours was set at 69 when we walked in. That night it was cold, so I set it up to 72. The next afternoon when we returned, it was still at 72, and not quite cool enough for us at that point, so I set it back down to 69. It stayed there the rest of the trip. Maybe that doesn’t mean anything or have anything to do with the thermostat override issue I’ve read about, but I thought I’d share it. (No helium balloon or anything, either).

We really did enjoy Pop. If we wanted to be away from people, we just hung out in our room, and it was quiet. We really did enjoy the food court, and I think Pop has a really good gift shop as well. (Yes, we shopped there!)

I’d be happy to answer any current questions – there is a bounceback offer, but it’s just for select dates this fall and into December.

Thanks again to all of you for your comments and info on this thread – it was a great help!

Dave

Dave,
Glad you had a great trip and stay at Pop! Can you tell me what design refillable mug they have right now? Is it still the blue YOMD one? Just wondering if it is a new one that I can add to my collection. I love having my coffee in them here at home so I can just sort of pretend I'm at WDW!

Allyson :)
