We went with the fireworks view because with 2 young ones and early EMH plans, we won't make it to all of the fireworks displays. I also don't think the walk to any location is much to be concerned about, so the view is my priority. Good luck deciding!

Does anyone else feel like they don't know what room/location to request??

It is my first time at Pop and I booked a standard room but.....do I want a water view, that would be nice standing outside watching the fireworks after DS(5) and DD(6) have gone to bed or... maybe I should request a water view first floor so we have the ducks and grass and no elevator. That sounds perfect... But wait maybe it would be better to request something closer to the food court/buses, yes for sure that sounds good, I'm sure our feet will hurt after long hours in the park and being closer to the court will allow us to use our refillable mugs more.... Then again I noticed some of the standard rooms are first floor poolside....I think by the bowling pin. OOh that sounds nice to be so close to the pool. That would make our quick dips in the pool all the easier. Oh wait, I think I read here that someone had a fourth floor pool view and loved being able to look out at the pool...more people watching that would be fun.

Seriously, how is one to decide? I am indecisive to begin with and now I have all of these choices.UGH, double UGH. What is a gal to do? I'm afraid if I leave it up to chance I will get the worst spot....even though I don't know where that is. Wait maybe I'm onto something...is there a building I should request NOT to have...

Am I the only one feeling this way...

LMBO! :lmao: Agreed! I feel the same way! Let us know what you decide!

How come you wouldn't prefer the 80s or 90s??? It's my first stay at pop, and I have to agree about there being wayyyy too many choices! :faint:

I think the only reason I would rather not be over there is that it seems more secluded and farther away from everything.

We stayed in the 70's :hippie: BigWheel building and it was great, close to the bus stops and we went by the goofy jets to get to Classic Hall. I just cant decide if I want to stay with that, where I am sure we will be happy, or if we want to try for the bowling pin poolside this time. HMMMM~:confused3

Last summer were were in the Big Wheel Building, just got back and we were in the 50s - Juke Box building -4th floor poolside. It was a much further walk to the food court and bus stop than the 70s. We enjoyed the bowling pin pool but I think I preferred the 70s.

Then don't worry about it. Go with what Disney gives you. I've made requests both times and got what i wanted. The important thing for me was no one running overhead. I'm a very very light sleeper. In May I asked for 3th floor and Mickey phone bldg because my friend wanted a Mickey phone so bad when she was growing up.

As another poster stated, pick out one thing that's important to you and go with it. You will adore this cute resort.:hippie:

my daughter's staying there in september...
i've been making all her arrangements for her (she was happy when i offered to do it)..

anyway, we've never stayed at the pop, so i've been studying up..

i think i'm going to put in a request for her, for the 60's, lake view, upper floor....
that should be ok i guess...

They are just farther out than the rest, and I personally like all the others theming better. I know some people prefer beingout there, but for me, my favorite is closer to the hippy dippy pool. But we also have a little one who enjoys the baby pool as well.
There are shortcuts though the parking lot to get you to the bus stop and classic hall faster, but it really is about the farthest away.
I persoanlly wouldn't chose lakeside as a pick either. I was lakeside veiw the first time we stayed in a 70's building, but I didn;t think the lake was pretty. I liked our room, but now I know I prefer poolside at this stage in the game.;)

Can you request Pop to have a balloon bouquet waiting in our room on our arrival date for my dd? Has anyone ever asked the hotel to do this w/out going through a private company?:confused3

We've stayed at POP several times. We've been in the 90's, 70's and 50's.

They have all been great locations. I guess it all depends on how close you want to be to Classic Hall and the buses.

Classic Hall can be quite busy and loud, so in my personal opinion, I wouldn't want to stay close to that.

I think it's fun to just let them choose your location.

Have a great time wherever you stay!

We'll be there in September for our 4th visit to POP and our 20th to WDW!

Love the mouse!

We were just there for a family reunion/magical gathering. I wanted balloons in all the rooms. Everyone was first timers except hubby and I. They said they were sorry, but no. They only did it for people with birthdays, anniversaries and honeymoons. And they only deliver them "after" you check in.

Hope this helps. I was kinda bummed, but I did welcome baggies with all sorts of goodies in them as well as t-shirts. So I don't think they missed them.

Blessings,
Winnie

Goto www.disneyflorist.com You can order from there, give them your confirmation number and the day of your arrival, and they will have the items in your room waiting on you when you get there! I ordered the "ears to you-child" for my neice's trip this past spring (I wasn't even there!) She thought it was very magical that it was there when they first entered the room! She knew that there was no way mommy and daddy put it there because they had been with her the whole time! :wizard:

Anyways, they have baloons and alot of other really neat (but pricey) treats!

I was always under the impression you had to go with another company to gt ballons or whatever. I have heard hit and miss on getting them in your room before yo uarrive. Some have, but others are told at the desk they have something waiting for them. Either way, it is still cool to get a gift whether in your room or at check in.

It is I guess a hit or miss. And maybe depends on who you speak with. I called before we went on our trip, and they said no problem. As we checked in, (we were checked in at concierge) we were told no they would not do it for our "gathering". She also nicely told us we could double check with someone at the "check-in" counter. I did and was told the same. They were happy to do them. But because they had so many requests for different occasions, they were now limiting them for birthday, honeymoons and anniversaries. Which I can understand. I'm sure they are inundated with requests for these. She said it is also because, they have to take the extra time to get the autographs done as well on the cards that accompany the balloon arrangements. And also want everyone to know again, that they will not put them in the room until after you have checked in. Not before. And yes, they are free. But yes, you can also order from the Disney Florist. I've ordered DH a basket for each of our cruises, and they do wonderful work. But they are pricey!

Blessings,
Winnie

I was not aware that you could have balloons waiting...I think that is a great idea...when we go next year we will be there on my DD's 12th birthday and I was trying to think what special could be done for her...and it's free at that...that's even better....mind you I would probably pay if I had to....what exactly is included...I read in a past post that they get autographs to put with the balloons...is this character autographs and do they put anything else?

You need to know that the balloons could be hit or miss. If you definitely want something special, you need to count on yourself! I'd hate to see anyone disappointed, counting on something that is not a guarantee. I know that we've had the balloons and not.

Please read my last post above. They will not put the balloons in the room until "after" you check in. And yes, it usually comes with a card with characters autographs. And as was stated, it may be a hit or miss. Although everytime my hubby have been there celebrating our birthdays or our wedding anniversary, we didn't even have to ask for them. We noted the occasion on our reservation, and then a day or so later they were left in our room.

One time, I had one of my Pooh plushes in the room, and they tied the balloons to Pooh and had the card beside him. Too cute!

Winnie

We stayed near 60's last time to the left of the Hippy Dippy Pool (preferred section), we were not pool side but rather in the back overlooking courtyard. We were actually pretty good walk to food court and buses. This time we are requesting Bowling pin pool preferred section overlooking Lady's Doghouse. Something different plus we will be close to both pools.

Whe we went 2 years ago, they would NOT deliver balloons on check in day (it may have changed since then). We checked in on DH's bday and they delivered the next day. It was also DD's bady during the trip and I had to call 4 times to get the balloons delivered. They did ask for their favorite characters and we received balloons from Mickey and Aurora.

Another free thing at WDW for special occasions, is to request the diver to bring down a sign in the aquarium if you are eating at the Coral Reef. I arranged it for my son's bday in Dec plus personalized menus. Just call the Coral Reef and they will connect you to the correct person.

Last year we stayed at Pop for both DH birthday and our 12th anniversary all noted on the reservation. No balloons or anything for us. It might just be luck of the draw?

Oh I understand they won't put them in the room until after we check in my DD's birthday won't be until the friday so it works out good....I also understand it is hit or miss but it is just nice to know that I have that option...
