Hey there MOM, is granny good to go now? I hope so. Someone has to keep your 'rowdy' group under control. :lmao:

She's doing great, thanks for asking. I think open heart/open chest surgery was a lot harder to deal with than she thought it would be.
No one ever is prepared for the pain.

Her worst side effect is that she has lost her voice down to a whisper, and she is a singer. We're hoping that her voice will heal.

She's only 54, so I hate to see her going through all of this!

Next up is a kidney transplant if we can find a donor match for her.
If we get through all that she MIGHT be able to go with us next time.
Here's hoping!

Now for some Pop Century info, just to make this post of general interest:

We've had connecting rooms both times, but the second time the room keys opened BOTH rooms. Not sure if that has to be requested, if it was a mistake or a fluke, but it sure was handy!

Hi...anyone going 7/27-8/03? We just had a last minute cancellation for our large fridge, toaster and coffee maker! All are free! Please pm jakesmom1 or go to the link in my signature to sign up!

MOM, I am sorry to hear that your mil is still hurting and in need. It is always harder to have elective surgery as you feel relatively alright when you go in and like a Mac truck hit you when you leave. I hope a donor organ is available soon. Please give her my regards and best wishes?

I once opened another Camry with MY key. Scared me to death.

To keep things OT I will say that I have read of folks accidentally going into the wrong room with their room key. I always put the safety latch on when I am in the room.

My 15.4" Toshiba laptop (14"WX10.5"H) fit fine in the safe at Pop. It has to stand on its side but there was room for other small items in the safe as well. Below is a picture of it in the safe.

Thanks so much for the details and photo. This was super helpful. I'm now pretty confident that my laptop will fit comfortably in the safe, and still leave room for my passport, wallet, etc.

Hi everybody! I'm shamelessly bumping myself up, hoping maybe somebody will be able to answer my question. I've never gone in the shower rooms to see what's there.

Our flight got moved back, so we just planned on spending those last few hours at Hippy Dippy before we have to catch ME to the airport. I'm just trying to keep the carry-on a little lighter since I'll have to lug it around or keep it in the lockers all day. But I know I'll need a blow dryer...TIA (again  )

Hey the internet in our room is working today! Gave up on the long live reports.

Sorry to say there is no hair dryer in the locker rooms. Will be posting pic of locker room on the pop pic thread as soon as I download from my camera.

Have a fun day, Tracie! Hope the weather and crowds are :thumbsup2

Are there elevators at pop?

see, told ya it was a dumb question ;)

It's not dumb. I had to look the first time before I stayed. I figured 'value' meant 'value'.

Yes they have elevators. They're not air conditioned but are fine in every other way.

we are hoping to stay in the 50's - high floor lake view :)

I have a question.... did you pay for a preferred room or standard? I have requested the 50's building lake view but we paid for standard. Is it possible to get that location with a standard room?

I stayed in the 50's (jukebox bldg) 4th floor lake view. Definitely not preferred but still took less than 5 minutes to walk to main bldg.

I don't believe (and I have looked at the preferred maps) that any preferred rooms have a lake view. Lake view is not a valuable commodity at Pop.

It would actually be contradictory to pay for preferred and then request Lake view, as you would actually be moving further away from Classic Hall.
You'd be paying extra for a standard, with no benefit to you.

Preferred ONLY means you are closer to the Classic Hall, and many times are pool side, though not in the 70's, or the front side of 50s.

It doesn't get you any other amenities than proximity to Classic Hall.

So request away, you should have a pretty good chance of getting Lake View with your standard room. :wizard:

Thanx so much for checking Tracie! That was so sweet! Hope you're having a great time! :goodvibes

Does anyone else feel like they don't know what room/location to request??

It is my first time at Pop and I booked a standard room but.....do I want a water view, that would be nice standing outside watching the fireworks after DS(5) and DD(6) have gone to bed or... maybe I should request a water view first floor so we have the ducks and grass and no elevator. That sounds perfect... But wait maybe it would be better to request something closer to the food court/buses, yes for sure that sounds good, I'm sure our feet will hurt after long hours in the park and being closer to the court will allow us to use our refillable mugs more.... Then again I noticed some of the standard rooms are first floor poolside....I think by the bowling pin. OOh that sounds nice to be so close to the pool. That would make our quick dips in the pool all the easier. Oh wait, I think I read here that someone had a fourth floor pool view and loved being able to look out at the pool...more people watching that would be fun.

Seriously, how is one to decide? I am indecisive to begin with and now I have all of these choices.UGH, double UGH. What is a gal to do? I'm afraid if I leave it up to chance I will get the worst spot....even though I don't know where that is. Wait maybe I'm onto something...is there a building I should request NOT to have...

Am I the only one feeling this way...

We are in the 50's building 2 (jukebox) on the 1st floor though standard.

I personally would never want to be in the 80s or 90's. And I prefer first floor. But alot o people think you hear more traffic on the first floor. I never did.

In that case, I would only request what is really important (like, our priority is connecting rooms, so I put that first) and then, if you don't have a preference, let Disney pick, and you will end up with a fun experience that is a little bit of a surprise.

Pop Century is so great, and so condensed, that there is really no bad location.

Relax, and happy planning! :wizard:

How come you wouldn't prefer the 80s or 90s??? It's my first stay at pop, and I have to agree about there being wayyyy too many choices! :faint:
