We had trouble getting a machine in the later evenings, but around dinner time (6 pm) wasn't too bad.

One night around 9 pm I couldn't find an open machine in the 50's or 60's, so I gave up and got up at 5 am the next morning, when back to bed for 1/2 hour, then put it in the dryers.
I think I was the only one in there at that hour, and it was great.

:rotfl2: My early morning is NOT 5 a.m that's middle of the night!:lmao:

How about midnight or so. did you ever try then? About how many machines do they have and how long is the wash cycle? If I go there and just wait for a machine to finish Im guessing I could probably get one within 30minutes or so??

There is no way in the world I would ever get up at 5am to wash clothes. I dont even get up early enough to make rope drop.

DD16 and I will be at POP for the first time August 17-30.:cool1: We originally wanted to stay at CBR but because the main pool is under construction I didn't want to pay the extra money to see signs of construction as we walked past. We decided to try CSR but for some reason I wasn't that thrilled with it. While I was extremely excited to go to Disney, for some reason CSR just just didn't excite me.:confused3 Anyway, I decided to try POP...and now I'm really excited about the resort we'll be staying at. DD will be looking for friends around the main pool. Will anyone be there while we are with teens her age?

I've noticed the value resort bus stops seem to be furthest from the parks. Does anyone recall the distance of POP's bus stops?

LOL! I usually don't get up at 5 am either! BUT -- I had 9 people to wash for, and I only packed 4 days of clothes, so I HAD to do laundry, and I was too pooped at 10 pm to stay up any longer.

As far as I remember it was still hopping at Midnight the one night I checked in there.

I got up, put clothes in the wash, went back to sleep, got up again, put clothes in the dryer, went back to sleep. :thumbsup2

I think the washers are around 30 minutes, and the dryers take longer. Some of the dryers work really well, others don't... you learn after the first couple times to warn each other which not to use!

Happy planning and packing!

You might want to check out Team Focker Watch thread they have a Focker Fest while you are there some may be at Pop !! I love Pop I find it to be more family oriented than the mods and deluxes. Everything seems more together . not as spread out as other ressorts. Have you put in room requests yet??

I normally come back to the resort just before fireworks and parades start since my kids are young ( we are normally there 16 nights so we only need to see each show once) my husband gets the kids ready for bed and I gather the laundry normally by 9:30 or so but I have washed during Midnight, was the only one in site LOL, I pulled up a couple of chairs and took a nap while watching the dryer ::yes:: (please bare in mind this up coming trip to POP is my first, prior experience at ASM which only has 2 laundry areas)

thanx, this is all very good to know. Im going to shoot for after midnight for laundry. I hate having to sit around and wait for a machine.

We have had pool side ground floor rooms for each of our past trips (2) and would definalty be disappointed if we dont get one at POP, I have narrowed down the exact set of rooms i want ( down to room numbers) do you think it would be to pushy if a phoned 5 days out and requested those rooms?

All Ears say NOT to call, but rather fax. Call request have a better chance of getting lost and not making it to the room assigner. Some where in this thread I have a sample of my fax I had sent for our early March trip. (Maybe Buckeye can put a link to it on the first page) And I got EXACTLY what I wanted. I requested first floor, 60's, near the baby ppol, and our room was directly across for the baby pool, 2 doors down from Ballo the Bear. It was just a perfect spot for us!

WOW! Thanks! How did I miss that! LOL That is what I am going to do too, I am guessing all the contact and other info is also on Deb's site, right?

Thanks for the info!
Dana

MoM, I am thinking of your mil and family today and hoping that all goes well and she is on her way to a speedy recovery soon.

Thanks Linda! I just heard that she came through the open heart surgery very well, and that they might get to see her in a few hours.

Thanks so much for remembering!

I just found this thread, I LOVE post #1!!
I looked over the first few pages and the last few pages, but skipped over a whole lot inbetween, so I don't know if this has been asked yet, (and I don't know if post #1 is still being updated as new info is found.... but I am hoping/assuming so and since it wasn't there.....) does anyone know the dimentions of the fridges at the Pop? And does anyone know if there is a picture of one somewhere out there in DIS-land? For some unknown reason DH is against doing a fridge swap, I think he is worried the person before us will no show. So he is considering paying the $13 a day to use the resort fridge.
I am thinking of MAYBE buying one at Walmart on the way to POP from the airport. We are planning to go there anyway..... and it would be cheaper in the long run. I just don't want to lug it home.
If they don't have a fridge in stock I can probably convince DH to buy a cooler instead. Any ideas?

I had a fridge in May for my DD's meds and it was a small square cube about 20". It did not have a freezer.

did you have a free fridge just for meds? The fridges that are free for medication are much smaller than the regular rental fridges.

You could participate in the fridge swap and if the person before you is a no-show, you can still get the rental fridge when you get there.

We just used a cooler last year. I pay enough at Disney, I'm not about to pay to rent a fridge. We're not even in the room much anyway. This year, we are doing a fridge swap, I'm really excited to have found something like that!

Hmmm. I'm trying to picture the size in my mind. :confused3

So, I'm guessing that these are smaller than the refrigerators in the mods?
Yes smaller than the mods. The mod fridge was more rectangular. It was just like this but no freezer:

I told them I needed it and they brought it up to the room. They did charge me for it and I didn't notice til I was already home. I called and told them I thought it was supposed to be free for meds and they took the charge off but I really think it was the same as what I would have gotten if I was paying for it.

You will enjoy the fridge swap! ::yes:: I did an ASMu one last year, and am participating this year at POP. On both, I was in the "paying" group, but for (less than) $10 I got a fridge for the week! There are several swaps, and most are past the paying stage. . . .that makes it FREE! Can't go wrong on that! :goodvibes

Our fridge last year (and this) have a small freezer. I would freeze my water bottles, and even in the August heat, they stayed that way for most of the day-in my black sling bag! That alone was worth it!

Just wanted to say that we never rent a frig, but I always pack a collapsible cooler - big enough to hold a few waters and a couple of cartons of milk overnight for breakfast. (I like to pick them up the night before so I don't have to leave the room early in the a.m. with bedhead and no make-up!;) )

Guess it just depends on how many of you there are and how much you need to keep refrigerated.

Ice machines are pretty convenient no matter where your room is. I don't think anyone should count on this, but last trip our mousekeeper kept our cooler filled with ice for us. It took me a few days to realize it...couldn't figure out why it wasn't melting...  Yes, I did leave a tip.

Since the cooler is insulated (padded), it's great for any breakable souvies on the way home.
