I wish I would have tried something else, because the Pina Colada was terrible!
It was mostly ice and booze (which some would say is a good thing) but if I want straight booze, I'll order straight booze.

I was spoiled by the Pina colada smoothie I had a Chef Mickey's. :thumbsup2
It was even alcohol free, and it was still soooooo much better than the real one from Petals.

I think next time, I'll try the orange cream frozen alcoholic drink thing.
That sounds soooo good!

I think the only cups they ahve are souveigner ones. And they aren't all that grand, but they aren't paper either, thus making them something you could keeep. In fact they gave me a few free ones for my DD. So I don't think the price would change, nor do they probably use any other cups.

::yes:: The cups are really nothing great and I've never asked but always just assumed that they are pretty much freebies because whenever I've ordered DGD a sour apple freeze (she loves those!) along with my drink (I've grown quite fond of both the mango margarita and the dreamsicle-my only real splurge; they are pricey) they always put hers in the same kind of cup. And I usually just pour mine into my refillable mug since it keeps it cooler. Once the CM saw me doing that and just offered to pour my drink directly into my mug - nice, but no discount :( . Oh, well, I still love my Petals and my Hippy Dippy Pool! :cloud9:

$9.50 is alot (what gives? I know its Disney but come on...) I don't plan on having much down time at the pool anyway...:cool2:

We were supposed to go on our 13th trip to WDW last week but, I changed jobs, my daughter who was away in Missionary college, got injured while on a mission's trip, etc. etc. So, we had to cancel the trip and are now thinking of going during the Thanksgiving holiday. This would be our second trip during that time period but it's been eight years since the last Thanksgiving trip. This would also be our first stay at Pop Century.

Have any of your Pop Century vets been during the Thanksgiving holidays? We would arrive the Saturday befiore Thanksgiving and leave the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Are the Christmas decorations already up at the resort? How are the resort crowds, etc.

Is it really? I always thought it looked bigger. Maybe jsut becuase it is longer. LOL!
When we were there in March, I rarely saw many people in that pool.

We were pool side in the 60's, first floor, and I never really thought we had any noise though. I guess it just depends o nthe person. But now that I had a first floor poolside location, I will be dissapointed if I don't get one next time. LOL! We LOVED it!

We have had pool side ground floor rooms for each of our past trips (2) and would definalty be disappointed if we dont get one at POP, I have narrowed down the exact set of rooms i want ( down to room numbers) do you think it would be to pushy if a phoned 5 days out and requested those rooms?

No I think that would be a good idea, I think that if you do it when you book, right before, and when you arrive, lol. I dont think that is to much either, since it will prob be different cms each time.

This is my plan! LOL

No harm asking but it will depend on if the rooms are available when you arrive ! I doubt they'll move anyone to accomodate your request!!:rotfl2:

We requested a ground floor room close to the pool and parking. When we arrived we were ready to ask for a different room because we assumed we would not get what we wanted. Well, check in was unbelievable. I was told my room number and when I was shown on a map it was exactly what we wanted!

Hi
Okay I was on another thread and they were talking about how all of DW is now using the same mugs, but someone wrote that their resort was still doing resort ones. Does POP have the same mugs as everyone else now? Our last visit we were able to get 2 of the POP mugs and 2 different colors, and I was hoping to do the same this time.

Anyone know?

Hi there,

Unless they change it for 2009, the 2008 mugs were universal for all of the resorts. They are the YOAMD mugs. I think the mugs at CSR might be the only ones that still look different.

You can get different coloured handles on the mugs.

The mugs at CSR are still different and will remain that way because the food court is not operated by Disney.

Can anyone tell me if the laundry is open 24 hrs? Also are they crowded? Or can you pretty much always find an open machine?

The laundry room is open 24hours ,but after about 9 pm you have to use your room key to get in ! It is hit or miss with getting a machine, early mornings tend to be the busiest.

DH and I just got back from our stay at Pop. I wanted to thank everyone who contributed information that made my planning easier while preparing for this trip. :thumbsup2 Thank you all very much!

We had trouble getting a machine in the later evenings, but around dinner time (6 pm) wasn't too bad.

One night around 9 pm I couldn't find an open machine in the 50's or 60's, so I gave up and got up at 5 am the next morning, when back to bed for 1/2 hour, then put it in the dryers.
I think I was the only one in there at that hour, and it was great.
