The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread! ~ Post #1 is a must see!

This question is probably in this thread already, but I can't find it. (I did look.)

Are there elevators in each building?

I can't imagine that with 4 floors, they wouldn't have elevators, but I want to be sure. We prefer a higher floor, but I don't want to be walking up 3 or 4 flights in August after hiking around the parks.

I believe so. You should be fine. I had a 4th floor room. Loved it:thumbsup2

I want to thank you all ... reading this post has me SO excited to go to Pop in August. We have stayed at Poly, Beach Club and POR, but never a value, so I was a little apprehensive, but now I am just really, really excited! :cool1:

About towels ... does anyone ever bring their own beach/pool towels, or are the room towels adequate for the pool??? :scratchin

TIA!

You can take the towels from your room, but, we always bring beach towels from home.:thumbsup2

hi,

hoping you can all help me with my room request?!?!

We are taking out 7 month old and its our first trip to wdw - so excited. Called pop last week and they told me to call back 5-7 days before we arrive and she'd put me through to the front desk and I could make a room request in and request my fridge.

Anyway ... what should I ask for? Just getting a standard room but would like to be near to buses and food court if possible and not too worried about fwks etc.

Should I request ground floor so we don't keep having to use elevators with the stroller or will this be too busy and loud for dd?

Two other questions (sorry!) Can dd princess: wear swim pants in the pools and where is the best place for a baby to go swimming - she LOVES the water.

Thanks

Christie

I absolutely love this thread and cannot wait for our trip in August! We have never stayed at a Value and I admit, I was a bit nervous but now I really cannot wait. :cool1:  :hippie: :lovestruc :yay: :woohoo:

Can anyone tell me about POP's pizza delivery? I know it will count as 2 dining credits but we upgraded to deluxe dining and I just don't see us using all those credits! DS thought it would be fun to have a pizza delivered on one of our early nights. I read that you get a pizza, two drinks & a dessert, is that correct?

Thank you all for your input!

Occasionally a question is raised regarding the Pop Century Playground. It's located between Classic Hall and the Hot Wheels Bldg #10 and the 90's Parking lot. There's a slide and a great play area with a sand lot. Here's a photo.

I'll post more photos on the Pop Century Pictures thread.

I have a fast question, will there be anything going for Pop's 5th anniversary? I highly doubt it but was curious. I stayed their opening weekend(including opening day) in 2003 and will be there on the 5th anniversary.

I will be at the POP in 4 days and can't wait. I have stayed at the All Star sports before but I hear lots of good things about the POP. I just hope I can't get a room by the lake and see the fireworks, it's my boys first time at WDW and I want to be magical for them. I even have a surprise waiting for them at checkin.

See you there! I'll be there on Sunday!

I can't personally account for this, but there had been some history put in the previous FAQ thread that I included in Post #1 that stated it opened in December 2003. Perhaps DisneyCP2002 will be able to give us a specific date! :confused3

We just found out that we will be able to go on a "surprise" trip to WDW - hurray!!! We will also be staying at POP (which looks like a great place to stay - we've been on ASp before).

How long does it take to get from POP to the parks? I'm sure this question has been asked already, so sorry to ask a duplicate.

Congrats on your surprise! Take a look at Post #1, and under the Transportation section you'll find commute times to the various park. Keep in mind you should add time to wait for the buses to arrive.

Enjoy your trip!

Theres a map of Pop rooms on the fist post , I think it shows teh preferred rooms so you could see which rooms are standard . I remember seeing a baby pool near the back of 60's also near 70's is Goofy Jet which your little one might like. Poolside is usually preferred by big pools and yes it can be loud!
Not sure about the swim diapers !!

I finally got my photos from CD's into my photobucket account and found some photos from the playground (posted above) and the laundry. Here is a photo from the Pop Century Laundry located near the bowling pin swimming pool in the 50's section where the Lady Bldg #1 and the Juke Box Bldg #2 meet. I'll post more in the Pop Century Pictures thread. See: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=24839658#post24839658

Also see Post #1 for more info.

Swim diapers are REQUIRED for little ones not potty trained. The baby pool is right behind the hippy Dippy pool in the 60's. Near the baloo and Mowgli statues and the big playdough. I stayed directly across form it. I never thought it was loud, but have others complain the pool side can be. We prefer 1st floor with a stroller, but I have heard others say it is noisier o nthe first floor as well. Again I never had problems with noise.
