Thank you for all the wonderful information here, my son & I along with my mom are heading out for one more trip before our annual passes expire (it'll be a couple years before I can convince DH to go back he's looking at Vegas for next year) and have booked at POP. I was a little worried but felt like the theme of the resort would really add to the trip and after reading all of the information here (it took several days, lol) I think we've made a great decision.

Thanks again
Kassie:hippie:

Kassie,
You will love the POP. You will have a great time! We love it there. For our next trip, we have totally splurged and will be staying at the POLY. I'm excited about that, but call me crazy, when I was watching a show on tv the other day that had some people staying at the POP, I felt a little homesick!!! It will be strange to go to Disney and not stay there, since that's where we've stayed the most times. (See my signature.) Wishing you a magical trip!!!

I have a question about room requests for pop. We are a family of 5 and decided that 2 rooms at POP was the best option for us. We need connecting rooms. Our DD is autistic and not having DH right there if I need help with sensory overload I kinda need him there not only that but it gives us more room so she can have a minute to relax when needed before she gets overloaded. I told the CM on the phone the same thing. Now my question is I am thinking about calling back and asking for a room far away from the pool. I would like 3rd-4th floor with a lake view just to keep down on noise for her. Should I bother calling back? Will asking for that hurt my chances of getting connecting rooms? Thats my main want but the other is a very close second.

TIA
You may want to go over the the disABILITIES board http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20 because there is a number you can call to make medical requests.

Check the maps on the first page of this thread because the connecting rooms are closer to the "hub" of each building. They face both directions, but are not on the far ends of each leg so they might be a little more noisy. Just know where they are so that you can tell right away if you got that request.

It should be easy enough to get lakeside if you're not picky about what section. Request connecting rooms, lake view, top floor. I think 2nd & 3rd floors will be the same for noise. You'll still have someone above and below but limited foot traffic.

Hi just packing to leave for pop going friday and need to know are there children and adults coat hangers there or do we need to take our own? If there are some there what sort of quantity as we have 4 suitcases as going with two little girls and going for 16 days!! Thanks for any advice,:laundy: :laundy: :cheer2:

Bring a lot of hangers because the drawers are not really big enough for 4 people for a week, let alone 2! I think there were about 8 hangers, adult size.

I also brought a pop up laundry hamper, and boy did we use it! We weren't near the pool/laundry, so I rolled it there in a suitcase and wheeled it back in one of the hanging cart things they have. DH was very sick that day and I had to do it on my own, otherwise I wouldn't have borrowed the cart. It's funny how laundry expands when it's clean.

Only adult hangers...if you need children's hangers you might take some from home...normally there are not even many of the adult hangers but you can call mousekeeping and request more...have fun!!!

I totally understand this. We were booked for Nov at the Contemporary with a MK view with a 40% off code. Well, due to the economy being what it is & our financial situation being not so great right now, I decided when free dining came out to change our reservation to POP in Sept. I was a little worried about how DD would take the news but she turned out to be thrilled to be going back to POP :dance3: It's her FAVORITE of all the resorts (and we have stayed deluxe in the past!) We just love Pop. Even though I have always dreamed of staying at the CR, I am not disappointed in the slightest to be staying at POP instead, and it will cost less than half of what we were going to pay for our Nov. trip :thumbsup2

Aw, that must hurt! But still, POP is such a great deal all by itself.

My DH is so funny. He's more of a deluxe guy, but we're watching our spending and stayed at pop in December. He's been going around telling people what a wonderful place it is, what a great value, how much he likes the food court, etc. It's really cute. :lovestruc

Coat hangers?? You're going to florida!! :beach:

I will say that I do remember thinking how there wasn't a traditional coat rack in our room like there was in the moderates/deluxes, maybe i overlooked it but i did try and find one.or maybe our room was missing one? lol mousekeeping stole the coat rack!

Actually, there's a clothing rack in the sink area that has real wooden hangers, some with those clippy things for skirts, etc., but there are no children's clothes hangers. There's also a shelf on top of the rack to shove your suitcases.

I would call back and get a different CM and be sure your request were put in. That one sounds like she had no clue or was having a bad day.

Thanks, Jen! I was thinking the same thing. I'll give them another call to see what's up.

? I readsomewhere, that POP wont leave extra big towels even if its requested .Is this true? What about irons? Do those need to be requested or does every room have one? If not is there a fee?

I do believe that towels will be left upon request, as there are no towels at the pool. I can't remember about the iron, but they will not charge you for one. However, if something is delivered to your room a tip would be in order.

I would love to hear some tips on 'Room Organization'. Such as where do you put a fridge? Luggage? How do you maximize the space?

I would love to hear this also. We went last year and I didn't do a very good job of being organized or using our space very well. This year I hope to do alot better, thanks to the Dis. I have purchased an over the door shoe organizer, but that's it. I would love to know where you put the fridge and luggage as well as other stuff.:)

I seem to remember all the rooms had an iron and a board .No extra fee!!Someone correct me if I'm wrong!!

There aren't any "extra big" towels at Pop, but they will bring you as many of the regular ones as you request. We've asked for 8 before and they haven't blinked an eye.

Re: room organization, we usually put the fridge between the table and window. And luggage under the hanging clothes or up on the shelf above.

I pack pretty light, so all of our clothes fit in the drawers ( we have two rooms, which helps for space.)

We've fit the fridge AND pack and play between the table and window before. Not sure how we did it, but we did. LOL

Happy planning!

POP doesn't have big towels. They'll leave extra shower towels for you, as that's what's available in the bins at the mods and the deluxes. They'll leave you as many as you want. Every room has an iron and an ironing board, and there's no cost.

LOL I don't think the person meant "extra big" towels, but rather extra "big towels." The bath towels.

We had no problem getting extras on request (just one time) and by the end of our stay they were leaving us piles of extras every day. I don't know why, as it was december and we only swam twice. Maybe it was the $5 left on the sink. Who knows? They were also leaving extra soaps and shampoo, which was awesome. They're so cute!

Me too! We are used to the larger rooms of the CBR so I am a bit worried about the Pop rooms. Our stays are 10 days so we'll be there for a while and I'm afraid we're going to get that crowded in feeling after a few days.

We are bringing along the mesh laundry bags for our dirty clothes. I thought about one of the shoe organizer things you hand on a closet rod. We are bringing along a small ice chest/cooler for our water and colas. Need more helpful organization tips.

HELP!! I am getting ready to ship our box down and neither UPS nor USPS are recognizing the address for Pop, 1050 Century Dr. Has anyone shipped a box down before, with no problems? Shipping it today gets the box there on Tuesday, and we arrive on Wednesday. So i don't want any problems!
