we haven't even gone our our first trip together to disney world (june 10-18 for our honeymoon) but I think we *might* be trying to go back in January! I think the rates are lower so we could stay at a moderate for what we are paying in June for POP but I think we are going to love POP and can't see spending hundreds more. Is there anything exciting going on in January?

I don't remember seeing that mug when we were there last May but I could have just missed it. Hopefully they are still there in December because I would like to get a couple of them. Thanks for posting this! :thumbsup2

IIRC - they were right by the cash register on a shelf near the floor. I hope they are still there!

When we go my Mom may be with us, so I want to keep the walking to bus stops to a minimum, but would like to avoid paying preferred. What about 60's, building 5 - lake view (or building 4 lakeview) vs. 50's Building 1 parking lot view? Building 1 is close to classic hall but it's the opposite side of Everything Pop and the bus stops. I was thinking that from the 60's building you could cut through the building to get to the bus stops.

ETA: Thanks to Ronald Duck and Buckeyegirl! Those maps, combined with my map I still have from Pop make things much easier to figure out :thumbsup2

If you ask for ground floor it might help, a little less walking as the elevators are in the middle of the buildings. Sometimes you have to backtrack if you have an upper floor and use the elevators. I was in the 60s twice (both times preferred, but the first time was before the changes and it was lakeside). Both times I walked through Classic Hall to get to the bus stops (or back to my room) and I was not the only one. We all basically walked through Everything Pop and out to the Hippy Dippy Pool.

My DH and I are going to Pop on Aug 28 thru Sept. 11. We stayed last time at All Star Music. Pop looks like alot of fun. Have requested a room close to the bus and food court because DH has ankle trouble. Hopefully he will have surgery in the next few weeks.

Can't wait to go. We upgraded to Deluxe dining. Hopefully that will work out.

There are no preferred rooms in the two 80s buildings.

Where did these awesome overhead shots come from? I would love to see more. It's hard to get a really good idea of the resort from the standard map.

I'm still undecided about which area I want to request.:confused3 My biggest concern is noise. Aside from that I have joint problems and want to eliminate any extra walking (I use a wheel chair in the parks) so I booked a preferred room. We will be staying 2 weeks so the room location actually is important.

Ronald Duck graciously combined 2 different maps and super imposed one on the other so you see the room numbers from the ariel view. There are several property and building maps on Post #1 that may be helpful to you as well.

At the risk of stating the obvious, any room facing a pool is going to be noisy. One thing to keep in mind in terms of eliminating steps is that although you may have a preferred room, which is technically and geographically closer to Classic Hall, if you have to go up the elevator, you may end up back tracking your steps on a different floor to get to your room.

Have a wonderful time!!

I had already considered the pool and having to use the elevator. I think I'm WAY to picky. If I don't get exactly what I want, room wise, I'll be ticked. Even though I know I don't have much, if any, say in what room I get.

If I were to pick out a building and a range of room numbers (ex: 1- 10) would that be to specific a request? In the past I've always received exactly what I asked for but my requests have been rather generic. Just a building or a floor.

Could this be edited to reflect that the lemonade is actually Minute Maid Light and that there is no lemonade available that doesn't contain artificial sweetener.

I know that this issue is becoming important to more and more people.

Absolutely! I'll go do it now!

We will be staying at POP in June and I just called to put in a room request for our Grand Gathering. We're getting standard rooms, but I asked for Bldg. #4 lakeside so that it would be quieter, we'd be close to the hippy pool & wading pool (and sort of near the pop jets), and (hopefully) we could see some of Illuminations from there. The woman I talked to, however, said that this section would be preferred, but she'd put in the request anyway. What do you suppose that means? I was looking at the map and it didn't look like those were preferred, but no matter what I said, she disagreed. Am I missing something? I was also hoping for one of the upper floors, but she seemed to think I was pushing it by asking for what I did. Are we supposed to keep our requests as broad as possible (such as only asking for building #4)? Should I call to double check what we requested?

I'm actually very pleased to find out that the lemonade is the Minute Maid Light kind! I don't drink soda, but when I want some thing besides water, a "diet" option is nice. (Helps compensate for Mickey bars!) I've stayed at value twice and have never bought the refillable mug, but I think that I might go for it this trip! Only 18 days until I'm at Pop!

We actually have a family allergy to artificial sweeteners so it is pretty frustrating that the lemonade at WDW is ONLY the "lite" version. The only non-caffinated/non-diet drink left is fruit punch or milk!

Nope, my sister is horribly allergic (severe gastric disturbances that last for days) to both Nutrasweet (aspertame) and Splenda (sucralose) so I try and keep all of us away from it.

It is amazing all the foods and medicines either one or the other is in!

Just wanted to say that its now 18 days until we have our first family holiday to pop and I can't wait.

Have found the info here to be invaluable but still trying to decide if I need to phone to ask for a certain section or just chance it!

Can't come soon enough

My family and I are staying onsite for the 1st time ever next month and we chose Pop Century because it sounded so wonderful. I can't wait. I have been soaking up all the info and pictures I can before we leave.

With almost double digits to go, I was thinking about POP and realized something: I've stayed at POR, WL, POFQ (In that order) and never had a more pleasant experience with CMs than at POP

First, the guy checking us in, very pleasant and accomodating...the guy checking us in at POFQ was much more enthusiastic, but even during spring break weekend the CM at POP was more than happy to see if there was anything closer to the food court when I asked him

The gift shop women. These 2 women i interacted with were awesome! I was trying to pick out a shirt and asked for their opinion, one liked the red, one liked the green...than i tried them on over my shirt and they watched me with interest and agreed about the green. I purchased it from this awesome CM who checked me out i was worried about the shirt being too big once i took my other shirt off and she told me i could exchange it if need be. Well it was too big so i brought it back and interacted with the same 2 CMs again! Turns out there were no green larges on the rack and i asked if they had any "in back" and at first (like most stores say) they told me they wouldn't but then chimed in that maybe tinkerbell had spread a little pixie dust and she would go check! She came back with the green shirt and we quickly did the exchange :)

I never expected to actually like Pop, but I loved it, and can't wait to be back there in 103 days!
