The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread! ~ Post #1 is a must see!

Worth the money is a relative question.....the rooms are exactly the same but closer to the food court...

I'll add that even though if you look on a map and see a preferred room closer to the food court, if you need to use the elevator to get up to a prefered room, you're likely backtracking on a different floor, so you don't save any steps. In some cases, the very same building with preferred rooms has standard rooms that would be the same number of steps to get to your room's door.

IMO, I would (and do) pay for standard and simply put in a request for a particular building(s) in hopes they will fullfill your wishes, which seems to happen. (See Post #1 if you need guidance on how to make a special request like this.)

We requested connecting rooms last year at ASMu and Got them! The only problem was one room had a King bed the other had Two Doubles...

Before I make a fool of myself with calling, we have booked our trip through AAA with a preferred room. After finally getting into the groove of researching our trip, my husband wants to be in the 80's section (don't ask, he's 80's obsessed). I know these wouldn't be preferred rooms and I don't really care where we are so what would we do to switch and since we already booked withthis rate, what would they do?

Just got back from 10 days at POP and LOVED it! It is my new favorite resort! :cool1:

THANK YOU all for the tips especially the curtain & shoe organizer! They really made things much easier for us.

I faxed our room request a few days before the trip and got exactly what we wanted. Our room location was perfect ... 70's, building 6, 4th floor facing the lake. Walk to the main building & buses wasn't bad at all.

It's $12 a day for a fridge rental....but there are plenty of fridge swaps that you can participate in. This is the one I'm in:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1923101

For the price of one day rent through Disney you get your entire stay with a fridge and coffee pot (plus someone will be adding a toaster later in the month). If the dates you need aren't available, there are many other swaps around, just watch the board.

Thank you for the info.

Woo hoo!! When I get off work tomorow at 2PM, Hubby and I will be leaving for POP and our 7th WDW Pin Event. I'm getting exactly what I asked for my birthday tomorow!! Woo hoo! What a way to celebrate my big 50!!

I'm just a bit excited..can you tell??

Blessings,
Winnie

I had that problem at asmu last year also so the guys were in one room and girls in the other it was only one day so it was no big deal! But I would assume in future to put you need 2 beds in each room that connects thats what I would do.

Thank you for the info.

I don't know your dates but check out the link in my signature we have soem dates in Jan available if that is when you are going and there is a toaster and coffee pot with the frig!

Thank you for your info. We will be at Pop 12/7-12/14. I looked into the swaps (really good idea) but, and I hate to admit this, I am just too darn lazy. I don't want to have to get the fridge, set it up, clean it out, wrap it up and bring it back to be stored. I'd rather spend the money to rent it.

Anyone who just returned feel like they need to start planning there next trip? It's like contagious! LOL!

Anyone who just returned feel like they need to start planning there next trip? I do! I didnt get the bounceback card in my room either!!:sad1:
There better be one in my room next week cause I wanna bounce back for Food & Wine 2009!!!:woohoo:

Call AAA and ask if they can downgrade the room to non-preferred, and refund the difference. If they are unable to do this, you'll have to pay preferred pricing, but you will still be able to make a request at the time of check-in for a room in the 80s section. My guess is they'll be able to accomodate you. You could even call the Disney reservation line themselves and explain the situation to them - although they won't be able to modify your reservation, they might be able to tell you what you can do to get a room in the 80s section.

You might even be able to have AAA make a note on your reservation that says something like "we'd like a room in the 80s section - we understand this isn't a preferred location, but would still pay the preferred rate for a room in the 80s if you can accomodate us."

Good luck! You'll enjoy POP no matter where you stay though, I'm sure ;)

I would think with the flyer being posted on the other threads, that you could just call that number while you are there, give them the code and book BB wether you had the flier in your room or not.

I don't believe that you need the bounceback card to book the bounceback discount. I even read that they are showing ads on one of the television channels in the rooms.

As long as the promotion continues, you can take advantage of it, just call the front desk and they should be able to help you. From what I understand, the bounceback promo is good for 30% off rack rates at Moderates and Deluxe resorts for a specific time period next year. You must also book during your current stay.

Hopefully someone can confirm the details of the bounceback promotion.

I can't speak to ASM, but I wanted to point out to those on this thread that all of the connecting rooms at Pop have one room with a King, and the other with two doubles. You'll see that in Post #1 in one of the maps that show where the King beds and Accessible rooms are located.

UPDATE: Before you react in correcting the response in this post, we've already corrected this statement in the coming page. So the reality is that connecting rooms can be either King/Double or Double/Double. ;)

It's not all of them - just some of them. There are connecting rooms that both have two double beds. I count 8 pairs/sets of connecting rooms per floor that are double/double, 6 that are double/king.
