Don't really have anything to say/add - just wanted to see my ticker get closer to the single digits! Fifth visit to POP - CANNOT WAIT.

:yay: I am ONE WEEK out!!! :yay:

I've read the posts about faxing requests to POP, but, I'd like to get a last minute opinion.
Is it still a good idea to fax?
Does anyone know of a good online fax service?

:stitch:

Sounds like a great trip, tammy! I was curious if you requested connecting rooms when you booked your package? We will be staying at Pop Labor Day weekend with our 16yo daughter and three of her 16yo friends and asked for connecting rooms. Even though the reservation confirmation states they are "guaranteed," the majority of people on the boards say nothing is guaranteed. Did you call before you arrived to make sure that request was noted on your reservation or did you just wait until you checked in to reiterate the request?

It is my understanding that Disney will guarantee connecting rooms in a situation where there are not enough adults in the party to "station" one in each room. They do not want unsupervised minors in a room on their own.

You are better off to call disney reservations and add your request to your reservation. I don't beleive they even look at the faxes anymore. Have a great vacation!!

Don't know of any online fax services but I faxed and followed up with a call with my room requests. When I called they had received the fax and the info was noted on my ressie.

3 days party:party:party:party:party:

Let us know if you get what you requested :woohoo:

We were there 2 years ago this week. I had my request on my ressie:
2 rooms, 50's, lakeside, top floor
I faxed my request with the exact same requests.
We got there and checked in at 11am and our room was in the 90's section, 1st floor facing the parking lot!!:rotfl:
My DD20 and I started giggling when she gave me the room info and she asked if everything was ok, and I simply responded - that is totally opposite of what I requested but oh well, it's not a big deal (besides...we are at Disney). I was not going to ask her to move us, just roll with the flow but the CM said, oh my, that is funny, I do see your requests. Let me see what may have happened and if we have anything else simular to your request. She explained that they were pretty full and nothing else was available at that time for 2 rooms but she offered to move us the next day when something came open. We graciously accepted and she explained that if we would just leave our luggage packed and ready, they would have room service come get our luggage and have it moved to our new room while we enjoyed one of the parks the next day. We didn't get all our requests, ended up 60's section, lakeside, 3rd floor but everything worked perfectly.:thumbsup2 That is great customer service. :lovestruc

I called and added on my requests to my reservation. King bed, Lakeview, top floor. I am hoping to get the first two, if not all three. Based on the number of rooms that meet these requests I doubt I will get one that matches all three, but I can hope, right?

It doesn't show on my reservation if you link through Disneyworld.com, but I got emails that showed this update had been put on both of the reservations. Hopefully this will work out.

Happy Planning everyone!

I will say the last 2 years are request were met. Both at the time of check in.

We leave in less than 12 hours.

THANK YOU to everyone for offering suggestions, answering questions and supplying such wonderful advice.

Has anyone successfully taken a flat rate Priority mail box with them and shipped it home from Pop?

We just got back from a POFQ stay, but we did visit Pop for a walk around the resort. Although the kids and I have stayed at Pop, dh has never seen it and I wanted to give him a tour. :goodvibes

We walked to the Generation Gap Bridge, and saw HUGE turtles in the water! It was so much fun to see those.

No But I have gone down to the lobby with 2 huge bags filled with stuff. POP supplied the box. They gave me the box I packed it there it was just stuff animals and some princess dresses. They printed at UPS ticket and I paid my 17.00 and was on my way.

Just returned from our first stay at POP. Overall it was a decent stay...just me and my DD 06. Here are a few of my observations....

1. Yes, rooms are small. I could lay in bed and open the door! however they are very manageable and great for two or three people. Or a family of four with no stroller /extra gear :)

2. Food Court - Ehhhh, it's a food court. It was OK. Enjoyed the salads, Penne Pasta/Chicken. Daughter liked the Adult version of Ckn Nuggets & Pizza. Yes, the cheesecake , cupcakes & giant cookies are delish. Cashiers very helpful.
However, it's the people dining there that irritated me! I mean seriously....to the family of 8 that left opened syrup on the service counters along with sugar wrappers and your spilled coffee everywhere....dont' worry. I accept your apology and the coffee was able to wash out of my clothes. I am sure that the ugly look you gave me, was some sort of any apology :confused3

3. Pleasantly suprised to see a daily pool party with games, prizes & music! Also, one night (the weather cooperated :)) they had an outdoor movie set up.

4. I did online check-in ..... I had asked to be near transportation during the check-in process. Upon arrival at 11:00 am, our designated room - ground level in the 80's section was not ready. So, they found us another room in the 90's - ground level that was ready. Yes, one of the farthest rooms to anything! But actually, we found that cutting through the parking lot was the fastest to the buses :).

5. Buses...not a problem. I think the longest we waited was maybe 10 minutes at DHS. Again, buses not a problem. I wish people would listen to the driver, when they tell you to MOVE BACK.....can not tell you how many times people would NOT move to the back. A few drivers were so mad, they opened the back doors for us to enter (smart thinking!!!)

6. Overall...decent experience. Some good...some not so good. I give it a B-.
Would I stay here again....hmmmm on the fence. Probably not, as I like to stay at different places.

If you have any questions, ask away....always willing to help out;)

I'd love to hear more about the pool parties. What time were they at? I assume they're at the Hippy Dippy Pool? Thanks

This is Not true (entirely). You can't per se, put a room request on the online check in form, but you can still make a room request outside of that.

You just have to CALL in to place it on your reservation, then do online check in later. I always call back in once or twice to make sure my "request" is on the reservation. I have done it this way the past three years and it always works, I always get my request (not a promise, of course) and I always do online check-in. We haven't waited more than 5 minutes at check-in. Granted, it's a 3-time experience, not 10 or 20, so take it for what it's worth. Will be doing it again this way in March.

Thats what I am talking about. You can't make building requests online...yes you can call and make a request, though that is best done when you first book the trip. They make room assignments somewhere between 3-5 days before you arrive.

jenseib is correct, you can't make specific room requests, like building choice, when checking in online. The requests you can add online are:

1. ground floor room
2. near transportation
3. refrigerator (there is a charge for this)
4. pack 'n play (crib)

:thumbsup2

Being alone without my husband for those 5 nites is something that I do not do. You feel so safe at Pop1 The food court is great and I have now found what I believe to be one of the best locations at the resort.

We leave in 9 days and my DH was just offered a job starting the day before we leave. He's been out of work for 2 yrs so he HAS to start on that day, can't give them any reason to rescind the offer. I'm trying to get my girlfriend to replace him which would be totally awesome, but she's trying to figure out how to pull it off on such sort notice.

If she can't go, I'll be going it alone with DD3 and DD8. Have never traveled alone with them and am a little nervous about that option. They tend to be better when they are with just one of us, so not too concerned about behavior. I'm very comfortable moving around the World, so not worried about safety since I know my way around, etc. What I am concerned about are those stupid little things like, what happens if we are in a line and DD3 has to go to the bathroom? She can't hold it and DD8 can't really stay by herself while I ran to the bathroom and came back, not to mention the attitudes I would get trying to get back into the line if she could stay by herself. Any advice out there?

I hope to know today or tomorrow which was it will go.

I will touch what someone else did. Technically if you leave the line, you have left it and can't go back, even if you have someone waiting. We have only done this once, and that was ina character line that was at a standstill. I wouldn't do it again though. We do try and make many potty stops and if my DD has to go while in line I tell her to wait OR we get out and either start over or do something else. This very rarely happens though. When DD was 1st potty trained, we did have her wear pull ups as well to the parks...just in case.

How's the actual weather down there? The weather forecasts online have not been favourable.

10 more sleeps til I leave.

:stitch:

I was there the 14-19th and it was sooo hot. I have never felt hot /humidity like that before. The 15th, 16th and 19th were the worst. I was sweating in a tank top at 1 AM. One night it actually got breezy and almost slightly chilly. One of the girls that was down there with me is still there and she is saying it's worse this week....if that can even happen. :lmao: I sitll had a lot of fun, but I did less becasue at times I was just too hot to keep going like I normally would. I was there for a TA program, so our days were pretty full, and had evenings to ourselves, but it was hard to get motivated to do a lot when you were about to dye of heat exhaustion at midnight. LOL! We had a very hot and humid summer in Ohio this year, so I thought I was prepared, but it threw me for a loop.

I have a friend at WDW right now, and she says it's blasted hot!

And that would be me...my exact quote! :rotfl2:

I hope they get splash mountain up and running, it's one of the main reasons I go. I also hope the pop jet fountain park is working when we get there.

When did Spash Mountain go down? I rode it on Thrusday night...in the rain. LOL!

And the Jets were not working on Thursday and from what I have read, they haven't worked all year yet.

Starting to pack.

Does POP supply Shampoo? Conditioner? Bar Soap? Lotion? Mouthwash? If yes, is it decent?

Trying to save precious room in my carry-on. Thanks!!!

It is a shampoo and conditioner combo and it is very crappy! My DH will use anything and he even hates this stuff. They do have bar soap, no mouthwash or lotion though
