This is my family's first trip to Disneyworld :cool1:, We will be there from Feb 13-18th. At first I was a little confussed but after reading this thread and some FAQ's on Disney's mom panel, I figured out the difference between Room Only and Packages. I call Disney this morning for the first time to add a day to my vacation( I orginally booked online) and talked to a CM that was sooooo nice and helped me with everything, making sure I had everything I needed and nothing I did not want. Since we are about 9 days away, I could do the online check-in but have read it may not be necessary. I have booked dinner reservations for the times we want ( I did this a couple of months ago). I rented the double stroller from Magic Stroller, reserved horseback riding for my DD18and DD13, BBB for my DD5 and DD4,even our customized maps have arrived. Now I do not know what else to do to make sure we have magical time....any suggestions?:confused3

One thing we found out about on our last trip that our daughter and her friend loved was waking up Tinkerbelle. Be at MK at the rope drop and when everyone else is making a bee line for the rides go to the Tinkerbelle store right behind the castle. If you are the first ones in, ask if you can wake her up. It is truly magical with glitter and the girls get a certificate for waking her up. It is one of those fun hidden treasures at MK!

They no longer do that from what I have heard. I think Tink still flies around, but no actual ceromony. The place was redone since they moved the photoshoot area there.

I just read that.. wow.. looks like it is gone... too bad, my daughter really liked it!

When was your last trip? I heard that when they closed Tinkerbell's shop for renovation (re-imaginging) they would no longer have that option. One trip of ours, I noticed the shop blocked off, and the next time I went in, I didn't see any evidence that they still had her in there like that. Better to double check than be disappointed.

Sounds great, thanks! Is there a room request you think would be good- he won't let me book him preferred, but Outside of that? I just want to do what I can to make this the best trip ever for him

We like the 60's and have done both preferred and standard . It is closer to the food court tahn the others unless preferred !! The foodcourt is excellent, I love the Chicken Alfredo!!In the mornings it is soooo peaceful to sit on the benches by the Hourglass lake :cloud9:

Wow I book our trip a couple of weeks ago,and put our deposit for Sept 20th(by the way my Bday:cool1:) to the 28th non-pefered room. It was just under 600.00 totatl:cool1:. I did not even relize it,and I was going switch over to POR that would of been almost double in cost:scared1:,not bad for POR but still that saveings can pay for my Golf:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:. So now after the deposit I only owe 520.00.:goodvibes

For us to upgrade to a moderate for 9 nights is 650.00. There is no way we are doing that. That is alot of play money. Are food will be paid for as we added the QSDP to the kids free promo. No the wait is on.

I would request Building 5 Ground floor...NOT facing the Hippy Dippy Pool.
It is very close to the Food Court...and a brief walk thru the main building to the bus stop!
Hope "pop" has fun at POP..!!! Great choice by the way!!!:rotfl:

Hey Everyone,

We just got back a few days ago from our 3rd trip to Disney but our first stay at POP. We LOVED everything about POP:thumbsup2 The weather was perfect (mid to upper 70's, no rain) and the parks were empty!!!:cloud9:

We took ME to and from POP. From the time we landed, it took us 2 hours to reach our room. However, we collected our luggage ourselves and brought them with us to the bus because we wanted to have them right away.

We asked for standard, connecting rooms (family of 5) in the 70's section, all of which was granted. We were in building 6 (Mickey Phone), second floor, facing the lake. We found it to be a great location...quiet, close to the food court, and a quick trip to the buses when you cut through building 10.

The frig wasn't in room upon arrival but it was there within 15 minutes when we called housekeeping for it. We had food/liquids delivered to hotel which was kept cold until we asked for it (again, at most, 15 minutes from the time the phone call was made).

The only time we ate in the food court was on arrival day (yummy dinner!) and when the kids wanted to use their snack credits on milkshakes. We were glad we had the breakfast food already in our room since mornings looked pretty crowded in the food court (that saved us a lot of time getting out the door and onto the buses.)

The only problem that occurred was on our last night while eating our last "table service meal" (dinning plan). We were charged extra "table service meals" earlier in the week and we didn't notice it (note to self...check receipts). When giving the waitress our room cards it came back that we didn't have enough table service meals to cover the dinner. In the end, we charged those meals not covered to our room and once we got back to POP they were able to look at all the places we ate to see where the mistake took place and took off the charges from the restaurant (fyi...the man at the front desk said we made it all much easier since we paid cash for the tip and extras not included in the dinning plan).

All in all, for those going to POP in the future...you are gonna LOVE it:thumbsup2

There is a food court manager named Kevin at Pop. Ask him. They don't have any cheesecake labeled sugar-free in the fridge that I've seen, but that doesn't mean they dont' have it. They have lactaid milk available, but you have to ask for it. He said they keep much of the special diet items in the back so that they don't get contaminated or mixed up with the regular versions. Kevin is very helpful. There is also a woman manager, but I don't remember her name. I just walked in and spotted Kevin and he got me my lactaid milk... and without charge too! The cheesecake is very bright!

Thank you so much. I'm going to write his name down. I do know when I call foer the 180 days for dining, I'm going to let everyone know I need some sugar free items there for me b/c of the bypass surgery. I guess I will call 10 days before my trip and I will ask for Kevin. I'm a cheesecake FREAK. That's the one thing I miss. :)

Sounds like you had a great time.. we are down to 50 or some odd days.. Looking forward to this year as the kids are older and can do more things :) They dont even know they are going yet - just going to go for a drive to the airport and see what happens from there :) How did you make your request? Travel agent or did you call reservations?

What days are you going to be there? I think if I remember right, you are checking out before I get there. We check inot Pop on 4/3. We are there only one night this trip though

3-25 to 4-1 :) Hopefully good weather!

Staying at POP for the first time in March. Our plane leaves at 5:15 but checkout is 11:00......what do we do with our luggage until then? Sorry if it's already been asked!

you bring it down to bell services in the morning, if you are taking ME back to the airport, they will check it in to the airline (if you airlines is one that accepts it at the resort) you can go play in the parks, but make sure you are back in plently of time to make your ME connection back to the airport, it is usually 3 hours before your plane departure time!

Thanks for your response! we are flying out of Sanford, so no ME for us :( The town car will be there around 2:00 to pick us up. We were planning to go to MK for the morning & be back by 1:00 to give us a little cushion.

Now that's a car ride I'd like to take! Your kids are going to be so excited once they figure out where they are going :dance3:

I made my room request when I booked the trip through Walt Disney Travel Company. In our paper work under "special request" and "please note" it stated connecting rooms in the 70's section. Other than that, I never called, emailed, or faxed anything. We did regular check-in (vs early check-in)because I also wanted lake side and preferred to talk to someone about that extra request. We arrived to the hotel at 3pm and was in our room by 3:30. Hope that helps.

Have a great trip :yay:

Thanks for this report. I was thinking of requesting a 70s room ... did that put you pretty close to the Goofy water jet play area?

We had a great 2nd stay at Pop 1/27-2/4. I did online check in. We were originally put in room 8133 in the 90's section. I did not want to be that far out and had requested the 70's section. I politely asked if they had anything available in the 70s and after a few minutes was given room 6372 (I think! Something like that!).

We had a broken drawer and it was fixed right away. We had no issues and no problems. Busses were quick and efficient. We ate at the food court at least once a day. Everyone always found something they wanted to eat. We had the free QSP and it's a lot of food! We were looking for ways to spend all the credits. We ended up leaving 4 meals and 3 snacks.

I do have one question though. Do the Goofy's pop jets ever work? They didn't work when we were there last March and they didn't work this trip. Also the flowers at the Hippy Dippy Pool weren't working either. My dd asked a lifeguard and he told her they were broken. Could be the reason for the refurb I suppose.

I don't think I'll do online check in again. I did it last year and this time and gained nothing from it. Seems like it'd be easier to do it when you get there rather then getting a room then asking to change it if needed. Last year we had no requests and it still took a very, very long time to check in.

I doubt we'll stay anywhere else for a while. We miss the hot tubs and water slides but not sure that justifies the extra cost. The busses at Pop are the best we've ever experienced.
