I have a little question I know some of you lovely ladies might help with...the past 2 times we went to POP we had the baby in the pack and play. This year he will nearly be 3 and I was worried he will be too big for it. Do you know if Disney have Bed rails for toddlers if I put him in the big bed? If they dont do you know of anywhere that I could purchase them and mabey possibly have them shipped down? We will be flying down from Houston and luggage is going to be tight as it is. I would also welcome any other suggestions you may have..thanks so much...counting down the days here...30th April here we come!!

POP does have bed rails available. We requested them for our 3 year old this past October. They were not in the room when we arrived, but came quickly after we called the front desk to remind them.

Then why would Disney put "guarenteed" on my ressie page?

I don't know what the *rules* are concerning connecting rooms. It is also my understanding that Disney does not guarentee anything when it comes to room requests. The only thing that I can think of is that maybe because of the ages of your kids vs. the # of adults? :confused3 In any event, I am sure that they will do everything they can to honor your request. :)

I'm sure the cm's at pop will try to make it happen. I have met some of the best Cm's at POP. We are staying at CBR this trip but we are thinking of going back to pop again. For some reason I think I will miss it. I need to make up my mind ASAP.

Ok I did it we are back at pop not moving again. I feel so much better. I was afraid I would miss it not only pop but the food court and everything else that we have loved about it.

Yep, we're here now and the hippy dippity pool reopened Saturday. Looks pretty much the same to me...but apparently they retiled and made proper handicap accessible steps. Have fun! We're having a great trip so far. POP has continued to be our fave!:thumbsup2

Quoting myself just to bring this question back up. :flower3:

I'm really hoping someone can answer this one. I feel I get better answers here than I get even from CMs because the responses are usually based on actual experiences. :thumbsup2

When we were in the 90's building we asked if we could be moved closer. That was the closest they had available at that time. We would have GLADLY paid to upgrade but they were booked solid. We always book preferred now. Unless you have actually stayed in the 90's building for a week with young children its hard to see how tiring it is. The walk would not be so bad if we haven't spent time walking all day in the parks. You are just ready to get to your room. Also, the kids would want to run back to the food court to get drinks, snacks, etc. It was just too far in my opinion. When we booked preferred on our second trip we enjoyed ourselves sooo much more...I feel much more comfortable letting the kids run to the food court to fill their mugs, etc. As the previous poster said, we also like to be where the action is!

I agree with your opinion on the 90s building 8.

On our first visit to Pop I made no room requests for our standard room, and we were assigned 3rd floor building 8. Classic Hall seemed like a very long walk from there, and cold mornings on this November trip made that walk even longer.

Cutting across parking to get to buses was okay, but not great. The sidewalk winds around to the buses, and cutting through parking seemed a little risky at times. It wasn't like the 90s were super-convenient to buses.

I now try to get assigned to the 50s buildings 1 or 3. Even with standard rooms the walk to Classic Hall is easy. Building 1 lets you duck around the front near luggage to get to the bus area.

Hmmm I guess it all depends on your own perspective. The first time I stayed at the Pop, we had 2 young children with us, one 4 and one 10. We were in building 8, which is the only 90's building. We didn't have a problem walking around the sidewalk to the bus stop or to Classic Hall. DD4 was in a stroller obviously. We would not have considered letting them go to Classic Hall alone regardless of the distance. I guess it is all about what you're accustomed to and what you compare it to. Compared to our stays at OKW and SSR, building 8 at Pop is much closer to the bus and Classic Hall. Compared to Old Key West, Saratoga, Caribbean Beach, and Ft. Wilderness, Pop is small and compact. I guess no matter where you are staying, if you feel your walk is long, then you should take that into account when planning your exit, and don't use up your last gram of energy racing to the bus from the park.

Did you know at some resorts the bellman can ferry you back to your room in a cart if you need assistance? You'd have to get off the bus at the main building and ask.

We arrive in 2 weeks, 6 days! So excited!

Can anyone recommend a room/section closest to the main building that isn't preferred? I will be 30 weeks pregnant and I have some hip problems and want to be as close as we can get.
I know that sounds crazy, going to DW that pregnant and not walking super well. LOL Our main goal is to spend lots of time swimming and just a few of our 10 days at the parks. :)

I don't think there is much that will surprise Disney Addicts. I deem this totally normal! :thumbsup2 Congrats on the new baby on the way and enjoy your vacation! :woohoo:

I would say the 60's or 70's !!!The 50's can be a hike but not as far as 80's or 90's !!

My opinion with your walking problem and wanting to swim most days I would pay prefered. What happens if you request 50's and get stuck in the 90's with nowhere else to move you for a day or two? That said if you don't pay prefered the buildings with pools are 60's prefered, 50's closest rooms prefered, and 80's & 90's all non prefered but further away. HTH

I agree with Rosie. There are some very close non preferred rooms in the 60's and 70's. Also be sure to ask for close to Classic Hall because they will then understand what exactly you want/need.:thumbsup2

Comgratulations on your expected little one and have a wonderful visit!:goodvibes

This thread rocks - I am so happy I found it. We arrive at Pop last day of April and because of this informative thread I have just requested bed rails. So exciting that my 'baby' (she is 2) can be in a big bed with her sister and I don't have to worry she will fall out!!! So much better then a pack and play. Of course I say that now, maybe I will want to confine her at the end of a long day, ha ha:cutie:
