For connecting rooms just call Disney and request that you have connecting rooms. We did that and now our reservations say "Guaranteed connecting rooms"

Just wondering how that works with the new computerized system, since now it is supposedly done automatically with no one actually reading the rm requests on the ressie.

Which parks do you suggest taking the buses to? Is it better to drive to some? Do the buses for MK drop you off right there at the park or do you still havet o take a ferry or the monorail over?

We are going the week before Easter and are prepared for the huge crowds. I just thought it may be easier to drive to some parks rather than be packed on the bus. What do you think??

I was told my by TA and as well I read other places that Disney wouldn't guarantee any requests at all, including connecting rooms. I can understand Disney not wanting to commit themselves to a bunch of requests but for people in my situation, where we are a family, it doesn't make sense.

I would like to be able to know that we will get the connecting rooms, as we don't want to be separated and as a family, shouldn't have to be.

This is one thing that plays on my mind. I don't want to worry about the possibility of having a hassle at check in. I really want to stay at Pop Century and although we could manage the family suite at Music, the sleeping arrangements really wouldn't work as my 8 year old daughter would end up in a double bed with my partner and I. Not fun! I would have other requests for my room location that I would prefer, but this is a must for us.

Hmmm, or I could just set my 14 yr old ds and 11 yr old ds loose in a room alone!! LOL NOT!:rotfl2:

Not sure how it works. Our TA did it all for us and when we log in to see our ressie it says the rooms will be connecting.

Copied from my ressie:
Disney Resort Hotel Category: Value Resorts

Disney Resort Hotel Room Type: Standard Room

Special Requests: Connecting rooms (guaranteed)

My TA did it all for us. If you would like I can give you her name and # send me a PM if you want it.

We were told not to do online check in. If you do the computer selects the room and you are stuck. However, if you check in at the desk they have more flexability. I don't knownthat for a fact but it's what our TA told us.

We have used the bus at POP one trip and rented a car the two other trips there. Honestly, with huge crowds, I would use my car for all of the Parks. The only one park with the advantage of using the bus vs. car is MK - The bus does drop you off at the main gate vs. parking and having to take the shuttle to the monorail. BUT with huge crowds, I am not sure how much of a time saver the bus will be.

In our experience, this is not true. We did online checking with a room request noted on our reservation. When we checked in we were not in that section. We simply asked the CM at the online check in desk if there was anything available in our requested section and he happily switched us over. The plus side was that we waited 5 minutes in the online check in and the regular check in line was 5 times the size. :)

This I have experienced and what your TA told you is not true. I have used online check in at least 5 times now and you see a cm just like when you don't check in online. You just check in through a seperate line with less CM's and smaller lines. When you check in online you tell them what time you will be there and have a better chance of your room being ready for you when you get there that way because they have a time from you. Rooms are going to be assigned already no matter what line you stand in and the CM can change your room if you request it and there are other rooms available in either line. The only thing this will mean is that if they change your room for you it probably won't be ready and you will have to wait. HTH :thumbsup2

Thanks for the information. We will be arriving around 7 am so I don't think lines will be an issue but I have always preferred online check in just because I'm a tech nut. Based on what you're saying I will probably do the online check in anyway just because. Checking in so early on a Saturday I don't suspect our rooms will be ready anyway.

If you don't book a preferred room can you upgrade to one when you get there? I'd like to see where my standard room first before I decide.

Quoting myself just to bring this question back up. :flower3:

I'm really hoping someone can answer this one. I feel I get better answers here than I get even from CMs because the responses are usually based on actual experiences. :thumbsup2

I've used the on line check in ever since it started !!! Sometimes it is quicker and sometimes it is not !! I would say more often quicker , but I have changed rooms either way !!Like you said the room may not be ready but it may not be anyway as some times people leave later !!This August we did not request connecting rooms just adjoining which does not necessarily mean next door but at least on the same floor !!When I went with a group of Dev. Disabled I called the Special Needs Department and asked the rooms (5) all be at least on the same floor due to the need for supervision, they called room assigment at Pop and all 5 rooms were together !! I would neither ask or expect this for just our family but it was awesome how Special needs handled it , they even had the medical fridge in the correct room for us !!Can't say enough about this department They are awesome !!

I guess if they have any preferred rooms available they would switch you....but if you really want preferred I'd book it just to make sure you get what you want!

We checked into POP on Thursday....well actually Friday morning at around 1 am. Paid for preferred, especially since we knew we were checking in so late and didn't want to risk being farthest away. Got most of what we asked for...in building 5 NOT facing pool. Pretty quiet location facing back of 70's, about a two minute walk to all the good stuff.

And....the Hippy Dippidy pool reopened today around 1. Kids are thrilled.:cool1:

Having fun...but isn't there supposed to be twinkle tirimisu at food court? :confused3Havent seen it anywhere.

Off to Mk tomorrow.

Couple of questions

1. Do the rooms at Pop Century have balconies?

2. I thought I saw somewhere that the laundry facilities were near the 50's, is this correct? As much as I hate the thought of doing laundry on vacation, we don't have enough space for 10 days of clothes (we are flying and can only bring one suitcase each) and I really don't think my kids have enough clothes for 10 days.

3. What are the Goofy Jets? I'm assuming they are water jets that spary and the kids can run through them. Are they only for little kids to play in? My kids will be 8, 11 and 14.

4. Has anyone not gotten a request for a connecting room? We have opted to get two rooms rather than a family suite at Music. I am scared that we won't get that request and it is imperative for us! It makes me scared to request anything else. I'm thinking a lake view in either the 50's (because of laundry being close) or the 60's. I don't want to be viewing the pool because I wouldn't want it to be too noisy later in the evening with traffic.

5. My understanding that it really isn't much more than 5 or 6 minutes from anywhere to the main hall. Are the buses much further than that?

I know I have way more questions but I will post them as I think of them.

I can't wait to see Mickey!:hug::love:

Pop is like a motel rather than a hotel. Check out the pop picture page.
There is 3 laundry buildings there.

There is NO gaurantee at Disney resorts. So you can hope and most likely wil lget it, but they will NOT gaurentee.

Online check in supposed to be fast. They "prefer" that if you have a specific request and want to change it, that you don't do it in the online check in line. It holds things up for others. They will do it, but remember that line is because people just want to get to there rooms faster.

If there is availablity they probably will, but you will also have to pay. It depends when you go. Lately Pop has been filling up.

There is a laundry room in the 50's near the pool at the far end ans 1 in the 60's near the pool ,I am not sure where the other one is !!Just another tip bring your on soap and softener , they are very expensive at the laundry !!I buy the trial size soap and put a few softener sheets in a baggie !!Have passed on extras to others who have all appreciated them!!

Preferred rooms are closer to Classic Hall for sure !!With standard I would try for 60's or 70's !!50's standard and 80's & 90's can be a far distance from Classic Hall although the 80's & 90's are closer to buses !!My DD is only happy in the 60's so we book preferred !!

Thank you!

I'm working on my DH to book that same week too!! Our youngest daughter starts 4th grade on the 29th of August so that is the only week we can do this summer that also coincides with driving my son back to college at FIT.

WDisneyMom, I am thinking that your best bet for being both close to bus stop AND close to Classic Hall is the 80's. or 90's. Building 8 in the 90's and ironically building 9 in the 80's can be a short walk to both. That's if you walk across the front passed the bus stop and walk through the gift shop. Its a short cut to the food court. We stayed in building 9 and 8 in the past and found that to work well. Request to be closest to the 90's parking lot. Neither are "preferred. We also liked room 0125 in building 10 (70's) alot. The rooms immediately adjacent to it would also have the same walk. If you ask for 60's preferred, you could still be really close to the lake which would be a longer walk to the Classic Hall and bus stops. But really, Pop is a fairly compact resort so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you..oh man, people are saying to stay in the opposite buildings!

We stayed in the 60's, building #5, facing the lake. It was a great location. Very quiet, a 2 minute walk to the main pool and a 5 minute walk to the main building. :)

Another one for 60's...thank you!

Then why would Disney put "guarenteed" on my ressie page?
