How bad is the walk from that building to the main hall/busses. This trip my mom is coming and she is 70..so closer to the main hall is best.

it depends on where you are in that building. we were on the back side, down close to the end (by the lake). so, we were as far as you could get for that building. it still wasn't a bad walk though. if you are on the front side, facing the mickey phone, you will be even closer. someone here might know the room numbers better, to give you a set of numbers to request.

I don't know room numbers but ask to be as close as possible to the goofy pop jets and thats about the closest you can get in the 70's to the main building, buses etc.. make sure you note the request on your ressie along with reason for request sometimes given good reason you are more likely to recieve your request:goodvibes

Thank you both for the response. I will be following your advice!

We are staying at POP in Aug (our third stay:goodvibes)..but it is our first time using the QS Dining Plan. I have a question regarding breakfast. When using the QS do you get a breakfast *entree* and 2 drinks or can you get an *entree*, one drink and a pastry? I have read a couple of different reviews and was wondering if anyone had any recent experience using it? TIA! :)

I upgrade finally after not being able to get into a moderate after 3 weeks of trying. I show dd were we are staying and she is upset. I even showed her the cool pirate ship play area. She wasn't impressed. She told me she wants her flower shower.

Part of the reason the pool area isn't a big deal to her is because we have season tickets to our local water Park and they have the same type of kids area. Just 10x better. It is also pirate themed.

I think part of me really wants to stay at CBR for the bigger rooms. But since we are going down for her birhtday. I feel like I should call tommorow and go back to pop. We aren't doing the free dining at CBR because we wanted the QSDP. So the package was around 750.00 more for 9 nights.

I'm really torn. I have been debating forever to upgrade and finally did and maybe I made the wrong choice. Dh doesn't care were we stay so he is no help.

Kelly - I totally understand your struggle! We received a 40% off PIN and I immediately booked The Beach Club. I have always wanted to stay there and thought it was the perfect time! But both my kids were less than thrilled, even after I showed them the pictures.:confused3 They fell in love with POP 2 trips ago and want nothing to do with any other resort. So I decided to save some money and book AKL...they were OK with it...but I knew they wanted to go back to POP...When Free Dining came out, switching to POP from AKL saved me $1200...so I did. They are thrilled, and my wallet is thrilled as well;). My DH is exactly like yours...doesn't matter to him where we stay..he is happy anywhere! So we are staying at POP...kids are soooo excited! We are staying with the QSPD and saving a lot of money on OOP expenses for food. DH and I also love POP...so in the end, we are staying at a resort that we are all excited about and saving quite a bit. :goodvibes

We are paying OP for 3 ts meals one for dd birthday request which is T-rex. Dh request rainforest and garden grill for me. We don't want to be tied down to adr's this trip. So that is why we went with CBR with the QSDP and just added the tickets. It was more than booking a FD promo at CBR but then we would have to buy mugs and tips for 10 days add up also.

Even if I pay for a fridge at pop I will still save 750.00. Like you I was also thinking AKL or WL but I couldn't bring myself to spend that on a room in the end.

Thanks

Thanks for your tip. I have been able to do the general searches in the forums for keywords. It will pull up threads but some other the threads have thousands of replies. Doing this finds the keyword in the thread your in!!
Thank you! Thank you!!

I too received the 40% off PIN, but it was still cheaper for me to book at POP and upgrade to the Regular Disney Dining Plan from Quick service, during the free dining plan season. We are heading out late September. This will be our 1st time with the dining plan. So looking forward to it. Have all my ADR's made and confirmed. Hopefully that translates into one less headache!

did you request anything? i will say that i wouldn't want to stay near the Hippy Dippy Pool. it is open 24 hours (at least, it was during our stay) and i imagine it's pretty noisy most of the time.

we requested 70s, building 6. if i were to stay there again, i'd request the same and add a lake view because that put us on the back side of the building. that area was very quiet.

my kids loved it. and i would definitely stay there again. i don't care if i never stay at ASMovies again. but Pop just seems different for some reason.

Thanks for this suggestion. :goodvibes I haven't requested anything yet. However, I was thinking of requesting 90s if possible and definitely lake view since I have a smoker in my group.

We went back with POP. DD is thrilled. Our total package price with the free dining was 1675.00 with a 10 myw base ticket. This is for 10 days. Staying with the QSDP. My younger dd could care less she is 2 so she goes with whatever at this point.

I'm going to ask dh tonight if he would like to get the hoppers. There is a few nights MK closes early and I would really like to see fantasmic this year. We have water park tickets we need to use us so no need to add those. But in the past we have never really used the hoppers so I'm not sure it would be worth it for one night. Maybe we can plan one of our water park days for the night of fantasmic so I don't need to add them.

I also still need to get my MNSSHP tickets.

you can't have a lake view with the 90s. it's also about as far from Classic Hall as you can get. there is limited lake view with the 80s, but those rooms are also far from Classic Hall. I think you'll be fine if you request 50s, 60s or 70s. all of those have lake view rooms without being too far from Classic Hall.

I was just wondering if there's a place I can check to get updates of the room refurbishments at Pop?

We've stayed in 70's and really like that area, but I was thinking 50's this time.....but if 70's is refurbed and 50's isn't then we'll stick with 70's.

TIA

Just there from 6/19-6/27 and my DH was able to get entree, drink, pastry while my oldest son would get entree, 2 drinks. DH would get a juice and use his refillable mug for coffee. (The rest of us are not big breakfast eaters so the younger boys did pop-tarts or dry cereal in the rooms.)

Thanks for this we are on the QSDP also. But were aren't huge breakfest people. But this is good to know just in case.

Sometimes we'd get one breakfast entree and two drinks and use a snack credit for a pastry and split that all. We managed to have quite a few breakfasts and not miss any other meals (this was on the DDP, but the principal is the same. QS meals tend to be very generous portions, and we sometimes would split lunch or dinner ones also!)

this is a great thread! For the posters who stayed in room 6436, do you have pics of the room view? Would love to see them!:goodvibes

Hi all, first time WDW visitor here. Coming from Australia and I am so nervous about where would be the best building, etc. to "request" at Pop Century.

We have a booking for 28 Sept-9Oct. What should I put in for our room request?

Am I right in thinking that the 70's building is a good location for closeness to buses, pool, main building etc? If so, what rooms or floors are best?

Also, am I right that only some of the rooms at Pop have been refurbished? What buildings are they?

Any help would be so greatly appreciated.
