Just read on another thread that Disney put in a request to start refurbishment of guest rooms in 2010.

At what resort, POP? It is one of the newer ones and other would need done before it I would think. Where did you read this? Sorry for all the questions

I remember seeing something about a refurb at POP in 2010 also.....Dont remember where though!

Be nice if it is true but they just got new beds-did an internet search and found a forum that says they are changing all the furniture, putting in flat screens and fridges

Only new matresses...I don't know the lifesapn , but maybe it's time again? LOL!

I would think the lifespan of public mattresses wouldnt be near as long as the lifespan of "home" mattresses! Knowing they change them out makes me feel better!

Hey everyone, sorry if this was asked earlier, but I didn't think I could look through all of the posts :) Has anyone stayed at Pop during Pop Warner week? I know everyone says the resort is busier, etc.. but I would really like to know in what ways do they affect your vacation. And would you still go back during that time and stay at Pop Century again. We are looking at going the first week of December and have just a few concerns. Thanks for any information you can give me :goodvibes

From what I hear they don't USUALLY stay at Pop. When is Pop Warner weekend this year?

I was told 2 different things about Pop Warner.......First I heard that their contract has expired and second I heard that they will be there December 5th......Not sure which is right!

I know I've read that the contract may have expired but on the Pop Warner website they have the competition listed as Dec 4- 11th at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex.

I was looking into Pop Warner week too and from what I've read, they don't stay at Pop (thank goodness!)

This is really good news! Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed for free dining to continue through the first week of December :yay: I wonder why I always assumed that they stayed at Pop Century :confused3

I don't think POP will be bad during Pop Warner. Most of the kids stay at the Sports or the other two All Stars. We stayed at Sports during a cheerleading event that my daughter was in. You didn't notice the kids much at the parks, but the kids did practice on the lawns. Most of the times the kids are at WWofS, but I think it definately made it more crowded in the food courts at night and morning. We were with the girls though, so I am not sure what it was like for those on vacation.

We just got back from pop. I have a trip report titled "Wonderful time, depressed to be home". I have to also recommend the 70's building. We stayed on the 4th floor and it was perfectly quiet. The walk to the main building and or busses was very short, less than 5 minutes depending on the elevator. We were not interested in the pool in January, but the hippy dippy would be the same time.

We stayed at POP last year during Pop Waner week and had NO problem at all with it. We did have a couple of big groups of teens so the bus was a little crowded first thing in the AM. Otherwise don't worry about it.

We will be staying at POP in October and our 15 yr old son is totally addicted to fishing- he wants to know if he can fish the lake at POP. He wants to ship his gear to the resort so he can fish in our down time....too bad he does not remember that we never have any down time- he will probably skip a park morning so he can fish. He pesters be about this daily so I have to ask.

Thanks
Bev
