Definitely Purex sheets....

Like a PP mentioned, we take the Purex sheets. I don't 'love' them at home, but on vacation they work just fine...

Okay...so I *think* I hear both of you saying you haven't had any problems with these, right? The reason I ask is that I had posted this suggestion on my DCL Cruise Meets thread for our 14 night Trans-Atlantic cruise, and Woody came back with the following response:

Before taking 3-1 Purex sheets on this cruise, you might want to read product reviews or try them at home.

On the EBTA, people tried them at home and found stains on dark clothing. YMMV.

Woody

Any comment to what he was told?

I have heard of them staining dark clothes as well.

When I tried the sample I got in the mail and my daughter got a rash. It's probably a good idea to try any detergent before using it on vacation.

I only purchased the one full box for our trip. I used them on the trip with no problems. When I returned home I used the remaining sheets, again having no trouble.

I've used a couple at home and still have a 3/4 full box (went back to liquid at home.) I didn't have any 'problems,' but I love the smell of fresh, clean laundry and I didn't notice any scent with these at all. My clothes didn't 'smell' clean and that bothered me ;) I don't recall if I used them on darks or not so I don't want to comment on the staining since I don't know for sure. I just figured for the convenience and ease of taking them on vacation I can live with my clothes not smelling like laundry :)

I've used them on several vacations the past couple of years and love them! :thumbsup2

But I think the trick to prevent staining is to drop the sheet in first as the machine is filling with water. Let it dissolve well before adding your clothes. For darker loads, I even let it agitate a few times to mix it up well, then stop the machine and add clothing. HTH :)

We check in on Saturday!!! We requested top floor, '90s for a few reasons - seems no one requests '90s, my oldest 2 were born in the '90s so laptops & cell phones are sooooo them and we're driving and not planning on using the bus much, if at all. Six people, plus a stroller....not to mention my oldest gets on the bus at the last stop for school and has had to stand almost everyday this year - he needs a vacation too, ROFL!!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread! So informative!! :cool1:

Thanks so much for the feedback on the Purex 3-1 sheets. I was also thinking maybe letting it disolve first is the key. :confused3 I don't want to try it on a load at home either, because if it stains, well....it's too late! :rotfl: Good to hear there are some positive reviews, but it does make me leery now.

I do know they are meant for front loading HE machines, right? I wonder if this is the problem. Still, I know I did a load of darks when we were on vacation and the washers there are just your run of the mill top loaders. I didn't have any stains. I wonder what stains the clothes?

I asked my DU agent to add my room request to my reservation. She told me that she did but I probably wouldn't get it because it is a preferred location. From everything I have read here it isn't a preferred. Who's right? Request is (in this order)

*Upper Floor
* Building 3
*Lake View

From the map on the first few posts the only preferred rooms I am seeing in Building 3 are poolside, not lake side? :confused3

No lakeside rooms in any building are preferred, so if I were you, I'd try to change my resort reservation to standard and save the extra money.

My reservation is standard which is why my DU agent told me I probably would not be able to get my request. I emailed and asked her again and she told me that she doesn't know, she's only going by what the reservation CM told her. We all know how much they know! :sad2:

I'm a little irritated with my DU agent. I guess I expected her to know. There are some other things I have asked her about that she doesn't seem to know either such as Pop participating in RAC/ME. The question I asked her was different but her response to me was that she doesn't know if Pop participates. Even I know they've participated with ME all along and with RAC for almost a year now! :confused3

wanting to book Pop, two rooms, for November. I was thinking about buildings 4 or 5 for convenience (to buses, food) since I have four kids, ages 7 and under. What do you think???

Lakeside for less noise?

TIA!!:)

Last year we stayed in building 4, I think. It was the building in the 60's, but it was lakeside , not preferred. It was a great location, and it was quiet. This year we are requesting the 70's section because we are wanting a refurbished room. I hope we are not disappointed.

As far as the detergent. I noticed that Wal-Mart has the travel packages of Tide. There is a one load size that is about 1.13 each. It was a sealed package so it would be easy to pack and travel with, but I think that it is just as easy to put powdered detergent in a double bag. I like the Gain and I hate to switch because of the fear of allergies.

That's the same room requests I made, :thumbsup2 and, no that is not a preferred location (at least not according to the map on the first post of this thread).

We were just there! I'd requested 90's to complete our goal of staying in every decade in one year, but they didn't give it to us. We were being sent to 50's.. again.. :sad1: Luckily, we were able to get it at check in anyways. If you're driving, 90's is an excellent choice! We were able to get first row by the building the three days we stayed without any trouble. I think my FAVORITE building is the 80's by the parking lot because of those adorable rubix cubes at night though, but you'll get to stare right at 'em from your room! :rotfl: (Plus the super duper close to classic hall if you walk the parking lot side thru the bus stops & super close parking!) Have a great time! :goodvibes

Another question that I didn't get answered from my TA was can I do online check-in if I used DU to book my trip? I know the confirmation #'s are different and I'm not in the Disney system. In the past we've always arrived later at night so no need for online check-in. This trip we will be arriving around 6 PM so I was thinking of giving online check-in a try. Can I?:confused3

I booked through AAA last year and I was able to use the online check-in.

I've checked in online and I'm a client of DU.

Just booked a preferred room at POP for a quick weekend trip in September. What are the chances of actually getting a king bed if we request one? It's our first trip alone since we had our son last year and the double beds are not very romantic. Just seeing if it would be better if I upgraded to CBR or POFQ even though we really want to stay at POP :dance3:
