I heard a rumor that Disney is now charging at $10 handling fee for packages shipping into the resort. Does anyone know if this is true? I usually have bottled water shipped in. At $10 a case handling fee I may skip it this year and drive off site. I hate to do this but don't really want to spend $17 a case for water!.

I ordered some things from Garden Grocer for our arrival this Saturday. I would have thought that if there was a new fee from Disney, that they would have said something to me about it. Maybe not, but it would seem like a good business practice.
If this is something that you are worried about, I would call the front desk of the resort. They would definitely know.
I will also let you know when I return in 9 days!!!!

Yep! You can either ship from the store where you bought it and they take care of packing it all up and shipping. But if you plan to buy a little here and little there then that could add up to a big shipping bill.

If you ship from Pop or any resort, it's a good idea to have a box. They may be able to find you one in the back but I'd rather have my own to be on the safe side. You can buy boxes at walmart before you leave that are flat. You can pack in bottom of suitcase. Then you take items to ship and box to concierge along with the address. They'll help you get packed up and will send it UPS or FedX - not sure which one.

So for the least amount of hassle - ship from each store.
For the least amount of $ - ship from resort.

Thanks for all the information!

The minimum order is $40, but that really isn't difficult to do if you buy some breakfast foods and some snacks in addition to water and drinks. Then you pay some tax (mild for me, TN charges almost 10%) and a $12 delivery fee. You are asked online if you would like to add in a tip for the delivery driver, which I did but that would be entirely up to you.

My order was less than $60 and I have a case of water, juice, bananas, pop tarts, chips and salsa, cashews, cookies and some other things I know I'm forgetting. Just the case of 32 16oz. bottles of water would cost more than that at Disney, so I figure I've paid for everything else just by buying the water! ;)

Hope to see you there! Have a great time!!!

I have heard it was $5. And have heard SOME people are being charged, but it's not consistant.

Any word on the baby pool (play) area? We leave in 12 days and I am really hoping that it is open. Thanks.

I was there 5/17-24, and as of when we left on Sunday afternoon, it was still not open. It's blocked off all around it. With all the rain, the pool was the last thing on my mind, so I didn't even think to ask about when it would be operational again. :confused3

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this board for all the wonderful ideas that you have to prepare for a trip to disney. This will be my 3rd time but first planning everything by myself (first time senior high trip and last time with my family). It will also be my first family vacation with my daughter and boyfriend. This will be my first time staying at POP (first off-site and second time at ASMo). This was a supur of the moment trip so I have been completely nervous about where to get the money. Was at work one day and saw the 4/3 deal in August and priced it out and saw how cheap it would be staying at POP so I booked it without even thinking. :cool1: I decided it would be my daughters birthday present (she will be 7 in June). I have totally suprised myself by keeping the secret since March. So again THANK YOU for all your WONDERFUL ideas!! OO yeah we will be there August 5-12.:goodvibes

Does POP Century get the regular Tv channels ABC, CBS and NBC?

Am I the only one who gets giddy with excitement out of the clear blue sky just by thinking about being at POP. All the sudden I just got so excited for our upcoming trip that I can hardly contain myself. 72 days can't get here fast enough :)

Nope. It's not just you. The Pop just does that to people! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

:welcome:

Glad to see your first post!!!

I just read an another board that you can use a fridge for free for breastmilk storage. (with doctor's note) I never had a clue you could do this. This would help us out a lot as my son refuses formula and I'm trying to partially wean him during the day. He's still too young for whole milk. I don't know who to call to inquire about this though. The resort's main number? Would this be for special needs?

really? i had no idea!!!

thats great! i still pump from time to time and wee one is down to one nursing a day. hmmm ill have to mention it to my ta. thanks for the tip!!!

So it says on the budget board's thread about fridge swaps coming to an end. I suppose it makes sense. Breastmilk IS a medical need afterall! I never looked at it that way before, I guess.. LOL

I do know that DisBoards has put a stop to the stroller swaps, at least the ones with money exchanging hands. As for the fridges, I would think Disney might get sick of storing the fridges in between but I can see it being okay if it goes from one to another without ever going into storage. I am sure if Disney is storing 5 fridges or so it could take up some room.

As for the breastmilk, I could see that as a medical need if they are not on formula or milk then they need breastmilk and how else would you store it. It can't hurt to call the resort and ask.
