You got the connecting part right but adjoining rooms are not anywhere nearby or in different parts of the same building. They are not down the hall from each other or on different floors. Adjoining rooms are rooms that are next to each other. They share an interior wall but have no door connecting the two rooms. If adjoining rooms could be in different parts of the same building then every room in every building would be adjoining rooms.
Sorry, you misunderstood what I was trying to say or perhaps I was not as clear as I should have been - was in a hurry when I wrote that. What I meant was adjoining rooms should be next door to each other, but with Disney it often happens such rooms are down the hall or in another part of the building - in other words, don't trust Disney to give adjoining rooms, so be sure to ask at check-in.
