It has been said before, but thank you all for the wonderful information. This is my first time on-site other than camping at Ft Wilderness so all your input is truly appreciated.

I reserved a preferred room. What would be more quiet preferred areas? Anywhere other than facing a pool?

Thanks!

I had a preferred room that was really quiet. If you walked out of Classic Hall and walked to the right of the pool, there was building 4, I was in room 4414 and it was incredible. Climbed the yo-yo stairs to the top floor, turned the corner to the right and my room was the 2nd or 3rd room in. It faced the courtyard, yet was really close to everything. You can ask for a preferred room, NOT facing the pool, and it will be quieter.

With that room number, you were on the 4th floor. :thumbsup2

I think they do. I clearly remember the music when we stayed in the 70's section and it seems like when we were in the 60's they played the same songs over and over.

Wait, where do they play music? On the radio? Or in the pool?

Hi :goodvibes
I haven't had a chance to read they whole thread, but I have a question. Do they play the music based on the section you are in? Like, do they just play 70's music in the 70's section?
Thanks!

I don't recall hearing music( They couldve I just don't remember it) while I was in certain sections but I know while at the bus stop there is music playing and sometimes in the lobby! I know one day waiting for the Bus Boy George's Karma Camellion came on and I quick called my mother so she could hear it because I loved Boy George growing up and my mom and sisters use to torment me about him! So I gave her a payback and she was like only you would call me from vacation to let me hear boy George !! It was so worth it! LOL! But the music they played did vary by the yrs! It wasn't all the sameit was a lil bit of everything.

Now I have Karma Camelion in my head, lol.

Thank you, Tina! DH seems a bit nervous about the noise of staying in a hotel since we had previously camped in a travel trailer or stayed in an offsite townhome. I was worried that I shot myself in the foot by requesting a preferred room.

There is definately music playing in each of the themed areas. It is piped through speakers that are hidden in things like bushes. They do change as you go through each section - its very subtle.

It's cool to hear about the music. I've only ever been during Christmas so all I've heard is Christmas music.

In our five stays at POP have never noticed the music in each area of years of the resort! Never heard it beyond the outside of Classic Hall. Once we get beyond the pool area, nothing but voices...so who's been following me around whispering in my ear so I couldn't hear the music?????

There is just one moon

and one golden sun :sunny:
and a smile means friendship to everyone.... :teeth:

ETA: Great, and I just realized I spent my 400th post singing it's a small world.

I'm not sure if the music is decade-specific or just a mix from all the decades played everywhere. Wish I paid more attention to things like that. I do remember lying at the Hippy Dippy and hearing lots of Elvis. Not long ago, someone on the DIS gave us this list:

POP Music
I Want You - Savage Garden
Don’t Speak - No Doubt
Fields of Gold - Sting
Jesses Girl - Rick Springfield
Walk like an Egyptian -The Bangles
How deep is your Love- Bee Gees
Baby Love - Supremes
Help- Beatles
Bille Jean - Michael Jackson
Hound Dog - Elvis
Mmmm Bop - Hansen
Soul Bossa Nova - Quincy Jones
Theme from Grease- Frankie Valley
Star Wars Theme - Meco
Cantina Band - Meco
YMCA - Village People
The Hustle - Van McCoy & the Soul City Symphony
Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes
Hot Child in the City -Nick Gilder
Wishing - Flock of Seagulls
Dance Hall Days- Wang Chung
Hold Me Now - Thompson Twins
Video Killed the Radio Star -Buggles
Who can it be now - Men at Work
Everybody- Backstreet Boys
Drift Away- Dobie Grey
A 5th of Beethoven- Walter Murphy
Jump - Pointer Sisters
Don’t be Cruel - Elvis
Witchdoctor - David Seville

Boy George is not on this list so there's probably much more.

I have used that song for years to get other songs out of my head! Back in high school, I basically got to where when I heard Small World, it wouldn't stick in my head.:woohoo: Now, it's a saving grace for me. I'm very musically inclined, so I always have music in my head, but sometimes, the songs get annoying! :)

Of course, Small World is a great song... long and never ending!

Oh... my... goodness! :lmao: I knew I always wanted to stay at Pop for some reason!! :worship:

Our last trip (December 12-21), we stayed at ASMu. The night before we left, I had to run to DTD quick to pick something up. I heard something familiar, slowed down... and it was Hanson's version of Merry Christmas Baby! :rotfl:The next day, we were waiting for our ME bus. My grandmother asked what time it was, and I realized I left my cell phone in the hotel room! I had to run back and get my phone. As I was walking by the pool, they were having the dance party by the pool. One of the CMs played MMMBop. What a way to leave Disney. Hearing Hanson twice as I'm leaving.... :rotfl2:

Most of those songs I have never heard while there. But we stayed in the 60's the last two times. I can't think of the one that got played over and over, but it's not on that list.
I think "shake your groove thing" is one of the songs I remember.
