My kids will have their MP3 players with them while at Disney. I think I remember reading that there is a MP3 charger thingy in the Pop Room. Anyway, if there is such a thing in the rooms, can somebody post a pic. My daughter said she can tell from a pic if their players can charge from it. (Can you tell I am totally out of the loop on how these things charge or work, etc. etc. etc. My kids laugh at me enough so you guys don't have to.;))

They don't charge, just you can plug them in to use the speakers.

Well phooey! At home, we charge them on our laptop or our home computer. We aren't bringing our laptop with us though.

I do too. You can buy a charger that a fairly inexpensive. I have an mp3 non-iPod and I bought a wall charger that hooks to my mp3 player.

I have a charger for my ipods that I bring to the resorts. I just read someone who gave a great idea of bringing one of those power strips for all your rechargers. I always have laptop, cell phones, ipods, camera, etc.. Although I never recharge each every night - except camera.

I guess I'll start looking. Of course, they have two different kinds of players so I'll probably have to have two different kinds of chargers. Just my luck!

Yeah, we caught on to this trick about 4 years ago. We bring one for the bathroom area and one for the bedroom area.

How many wall sockets are there in a Pop room?

With my cameras and batteries etc I would be hoping to have 3 sockets. I never even thought there might not be 3 until just now.

I was wondering, I have a compromised immune system due to a weak heart. Should I call the special guest services line and ask that my blankets and room is thoroughly cleaned or does that sound rude??? The bedspread situation at any hotel just really freaks me out. TIA!!!!

There is one by the sink, one nest to the bed by the sink area and one by the bed by the door, plus a few others for the clock and TV which are hard to get too, but you should be fine.

It absolutely does not sound rude. If you think it would be harmfull to your health, then by all means, call guest services and ask that you have your room specially cleaned.

Oh that's great thank you. One less thing to think about.

If it is a situation that could seriously compromise your health/medical condition, then by all means call them.:) You are not being rude in that situation and they will understand; They work with guests with medical issues everyday.

Yes, it is Jeany! ::yes:: You'll love it!! Be sure to tell us all about your stay when you get back, okay? :thumbsup2

I don't want to frighten you and...don't get me wrong...I love Disney...but you should know...On our May 2007 trip we stayed at Carib Beach (first for DS, age 11 at the time, who has numerous environmental allergies, asthma, and extremely sensitive skin), I sent a fax about a week ahead of time to the resort, explaining his situation and asking for the room to be specially cleaned. **I actually got the idea from the book "PassPorter's Walt Disney World for your Special Needs,"(which you might want to check out if you haven't done so yet...) I was thinking of taking linens and towels for him from home...and then a day or two before our departure, a manager from CBR called, said that he'd gotten my fax, and assured me that they had an allergy-cleaning protocol that they would follow...the room would be specially-cleaned, the linens would be washed specially-washed throughout our stay, etc, etc..I think we were on the phone for 45 minutes and I felt great about everything that was going to occur so I didn't take anything special with me except for his own pillowcase.

Well...our room was FAR from clean. We had to move the beds when we arrived to accomodate my mom's wheelchair...and you don't even want to know what was under there! So we had to call housekeeping to come and sweep that up. Then later that day when we went to close the curtains, they were covered with dust bunnies (I truly wish I'd taken a picture but I was so mad that I didn't think of it). We called again and they came to clean them...There were stains on the carpet as if someone had dumped a cup of coffee and it had never been cleaned up. By the fourth day of the trip, DS had a nasty rash all over his legs.

Although we called the Front Desk and they came each time to take care of the problem, I didn't take things up with a manager...which I now regret. (We also had plumbing issues in the room...clogged toilet four days running...they ended up replacing the toilet on the 5th day!)

Lessons learned...I now take sheets and towels from home for DS anytime/anywhere we travel - even with family - and plan to do so for upcoming Disney trip June 2009. (re: Mousekeeping -I just make a note to put on the bed stating that this bed is not to be changed/contains linens from home.) At hotels, I always remove bedspreads and just fold and put in a corner on the floor- I agree, they don't get cleaned right. Our current reservation with Disney actually states that my son has "very sensitive skin" - you can put such things on your reservation, my travel agent did because she was very upset with what happened in 2007. I will contact POP ahead of time this year to request a special cleaning...but if it doesn't happen correctly I will know this time to complain to someone beyond the person who comes to mop up!

Just a little extra prep...and you'll have a wonderful trip!!:yay:

**I re-checked book and - indeed - I missed a (very important) step involving "Special Reservations" (as did my travel agent, apparently). I went straight to the second step of contacting the resort four to five days prior to arrival to discuss details.

Thanks to "Minnie and Nana" for setting me straight - I'll be contacting Special Reservations this week for our upcoming trip!!!
:thumbsup2

II sent a fax about a week ahead of time to the resort, explaining his situation and asking for the room to be specially cleaned. I actually got the idea from the book "PassPorter's Walt Disney World for your Special Needs:yay:

 How awful! If the Passporter advised you to fax the resort directly they are giving out incorrect advice! A guest must call Resort Special Needs department (I posted the number, but will be happy to do so again if needed. :) ). Special Needs will go over everything you need and make arrangements for a special cleaning - an outside cleaning company was sent in to clean the room without chemicals for us.

The room will be blocked ahead of time so the room can be properly cleaned. Once you arrive, if the room is not acceptable, you can call special needs (take the direct number along) and they will be sure it is taken care of for you - a guest is not left on their own when special needs in involved.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

It's good to know that they take extra care with cleaning for those who need it. I think that is awesome.

Check out the first page for info on Bday cakes. IMHO this is one of the best little perks POP has to offer! Those cakes come from the GF Bakery and are absolutely fresh and delicious! The POP chef was sooo nice to us and really tried to make it extra special. He called our room to let me know it was ready and I could come pick it up...and then offered to just have it delivered...with balloons, an autographed photo card from Minnie, plates, napkins, knives and forks and even candles. :thumbsup2

Thanks!! That is good to know and one less thing I have to worry about. I will just pick one out when we get there. His birthday is in the middle of our trip so if I need to wait 48 hours we will still be ok. :goodvibes

We are staying at Pop for the first time in September for our 10yr anniversary and my b-day!!!

Can you tell me where I should request if I want to be in a more quiet room? We don't mind walking too much but would prefer to be close to the bus stop too.

Also, we will have our son with us.....are the King Beds better than the two double? He usually crams himself in between us every night anyway in our Queen (Sadly, this is one reason he is an only child:rolleyes::rotfl:) and we could do the King if they are more comfy.

My husband will be grumpy if the beds stink, there is alot of noise and the bus waits are awful. Hope we don't end up with all three:scared1:

Thanks in advance.

Thank you Minnie&Nina for everything! Now I have alot of info about POP! Thanks alot!

If your son is under 3 you can ask for a king, if he is 3 or older they won't allow you to have a king. Lings aren't gaurenteed though at all.
