Thanks for your reply! :goodvibes I hadn't even considered requesting the 90's, is that far from Classic Hall tho? Really, the most important to me is access to the room after a whole day at the parks when we're tired. I'm going to call and make my request soon, we don't go until Sept. but I'm thinking ahead.

from the 90's to classic hall is much quicker than the map makes it look.....your practically right there at the bus stop....(if you cut across the parking lot...not to worry there is a side walk to walk on if you choose) there is an entrance to classical right at the bus stop which takes you straight into the gift shop/food court so yes your close to classic hall as well....when i was originally assigned there i was a bit upset thinking I would be stuck in some weird corner of the resort...but it was actually in my opinion the better choice for us....we spent hours in the park and trust me being able to cut across to the room so quickly was great....being on the ground floor was a plus! no waiting for the elevator or standing in one for the matter....

Thanks so much for your advice! I think that I'll request the 90's 1st floor that sounds great to me. We may also have a car so being close to the parking lot is a plus too!

Just a heads up for you guys and gals traveling in August, the park hours are being loaded onto the Disney site as we speak...well....type.

We're going for free dining but found a good flight and are arriving the day earlier and we made a room only reservation for just that night. I asked if we would have to move rooms and the CM told me that they don't like to do that so chances are we'd stay in the same room for the reservation that starts the next day.
After reading that sometimes CM are, to be polite, often incorrect on the phone ;) should I worry about this? We try to be rope droppers so I wanted a quick transition that morning.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

I apologize in advance if this has been rehashed ad nauseum before! Thanks!

I dont think you need to worry. My family and I normally stay at the world 16night 2 of which have to be room only ressies since the system wont allow a 16 night package booking.....and on every occassion we have stayed in the same room. We did have to change key cards but that was very quick and painless....every time I still made the 1st bus out to catch rope drop.....

here's what you do either you or hubby can be the runner.....one stays behind with the kids in the room to finish getting ready....the runner takes everyones key card and check with the front desk.....make sure the runner returns to the room and tries all the cards 1st....if you get up early enough you should be able to do this and make rope drop.....Hope this helps...GOOD luck;)

oh just thought of something else is your roomonly ressie before your package ressie? if so the tactics above should help....I normally try to do mine at the end of the trip when things are a little less hectic for us just wondering.....I have a tactic for that as well.

Having worked at one of the WDW resorts in the past, there is the possibility of a room change. Because you will technically have 2 different ressies. HOWEVER, on the room only ressie, have the CM make a request (note) on your ressie that this is 1 of 2 reservations and you are staying over. That way the room assigner will see that note and then assign the same room # to you. You will need to "check out and check back in" (to end your room only and to begin your package) with the front desk. Also, when you check in the first day, alert the CM that you have a room only for tonight but your package starts tomorrow. That way they can check both ressies. The day your package starts, you can stop by the Front Desk as early as 6AM to obtain your new KTTW cards with your park tickets, dining credits, etc. The Front Desk will do everything possible to keep you in the same room. 99.9999% of the time you stay in the same room. So I wouldn't worry. And I say as early as 6AM because usually the front desk has updated their system for that day by then.

Hope that makes sense.

We just returned from a week's stay at the Pop Century. I saw the bunnies, but saw no frozen coke machines or frozen cokes.

So, for those who just returned, I have a question. I leave in about another week. Were the parks really crowded or was the trip overall really pleasant? I fully expect some crowding, but was hoping that by going before the schools have let out, we can skip some of the crowds.

It wasn't as bad as I expected. We did find the Magic Kingdom to be the most packed, but out of our 14 days we only spent two partial days there, so it didn't affect us. We were told that the water parks at reached capacity twice when we were in them and we didn't know. We presumed it was light because it certainly didn't seem crowded.

As a first timer, the crowds weren't nearly as bad as we expected, and we used fast passes and a "20 minute rule" that we would never join an attraction line that had more than 20 minutes line time on it. We didn't miss any attraction that we wanted to go on, and on things like Rock N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, Test Track etc we rode multiple times using fast pass.

Fantastic! Thank you! Let's hope it's like that when my group goes! :cool1:

Re: changing rooms...

When DH and I were there for 2 weeks, we had 2 separate packages. I called the front desk the night before the second package began and asked if we could stay in the same room (as I was instructed to do when we originally checked in). The CM I spoke to made a note on our reservation and said someone would be by in the morning to drop off our new KTTW cards. Sure enough, a CM on a Segway stopped by early the next morning to give us our new cards and we were on our way. This was much easier than having to physically go to the front desk and stand in line -- hopefully they're still doing it this way, too!

Im heading to POP in september and I was wondering when I should put my request in for what decade I want to stay in and stuff ...any suggestions??

As long as you've made your reservation, it's not too early to make a request. :) Sooner the better, in fact.

NOPE Never to early! You can call and add it to your original ressie! It's not gauranteed though it's just a request remember that. And it depends on if you want quite or pool view or lakeview etc...

If you are in a standard room and want pool view I would say request 50's section. If you are preferred I would request 60's closest to Classic Hall.

If you are standard and want lakeview I root for either 50's or 60's lakeview

There are also Standard rooms in the 60's section if you would like to try to get a close as possible w/ standard ! And basically if you are preferred those buildings are 70's, 60's and 50's. Hope this helps! Our last visit we had a standard room and requested 50's or 60's and ground flr poolview and we got all 3 we were in the 50's ground flr poolview it was great! This time we are preferred and requested 60's groundfloor poolview. The kids love late nite pool swims!!
