Everyone else on this thread and on one on TGM have posted that they're gone for good. :confused3 We're looking to hear some first hand reports from people going recently. I hope what they told your DH that they were correct, but I'm afraid they were just uninformed.

So, the only thing available for Pop for our dates was a preferred room. We'll have a car so we're not worried about being close to a bus stop.

Any suggestions for a quiet room for adults, should we ask for a top floor, in a particular building?

TIA!

Lakeside would probably be the quietest, but since you have preferred, that's not an option. I would say try for the 70s.

I would request top floor, closest to the lake. That way you would be further away from the main pool activities.

Or as a last resort, upon check in, ask if there are any standard rooms that they could downgrade you to. I have done this in the past. And if so, 50's or 70's lake view would be ideal!!!

Wow, great info and SO fast, thanks so much!! :thumbsup2

Hold on there!!!!! When you called Pop, you actually get the "call center" for Pop. I believe that same call center also handle calls for other resorts as well. So unless the CM you spoke to was JUST at the Pop Food Court and saw the frozen cokes, I wouldn't get too excited.

Just keepin' it real :lmao:

My DH called the call center, who (while he was on the line), called the front desk at the Pop. That person sent a runner to the dining room. The runner said the frozen coke machine was still there and still operating. And yes, this took about 20 minutes to finally achieve. But what can I say -- we like our frozen cokes and we like to get firm answers out of Disney.

why don't you go to the budget board and get on the coffee pot swap for pop:confused3

I checked at least 4 of the swap threads, but my dates Sept 3-7 were already taken. If anyone runs across an open coffeepot swap, please PM me, otherwise plan b is to bring my own instant hot water maker. I'm also thinking about a small cooler like bag that I can pack it in, then use that with ice to keep my cream or milk cold. Yeah, I'm goofy for my coffee:sad2:!!!

Thank you - it had the same effect on me. :)
My brother is also on the spectrum, but we haven't been since 2007 (then again, we went three times that year, so we needed a break). I actually just wrote a hypothetical research proposal for my final paper for class about the social effects of Disney on autistic children - hopefully I'll get a good grade! :rolleyes1

As far as location goes we just stayed in the 70's building on the 4th floor and it was really quiet.

As for the frozen cokes we just got back late last night and I never could find them anywhere. I thought I must just be missing them since I never asked anyone beforehand where they were, but I asked two different cast members and they said they were gone. I was really disappointed. Luckily I hadn't mentioned them to my kids.

Its hard to put to words the power of disney. It sounds very cliche...but I can tell you for a fact as it pertains to my child - that the environment draws these kids - that were previously so removed - into being connected socially - and is - as you know - no small feat. I know many other families that are doing the same things for the same reason. It makes sense - the stimulus is so over the top...

We see big developmental leaps each time we go and I dont care how sappy that sounds. I only wish I discovered disney when he was 3 instead of 6!

Good Luck with your paper!

That is a great photo! I am so ready to go

I have a question about tipping bell service. I tried a search but came back with no results. I read that it is not a traditional bell service- that they deliver your items within an hour or so after you leave it at the luggage area. That's a long wait. So do you tip when you leave the items in case you are not in your room when they deliver them or do you wait in your room till it gets delivered? How exactly does that work? Thanks for the help.

I'm just back from two weeks at Pop Century. It was my first time ever to Walt Disney World.

I really liked Pop Century. I got 9 towel animals!!!!!

I was put on the 4th floor of the 50s building. It was very nice.

We used to food court on a few occasions. Even when it was crowded looking, the line was very very quick indeed.

I had hot chocolate a lot as my "free" drink with my mug. They could do with a few extra of those machines. There was a line on most occasions for the hot chocolate, whilst the other drinks you could just get immediately.

The biggest shock for me, as a first timer, was the transportation. I am totally in awe of the organisation of transportation. In a two week period we mostly waited around 5 minutes for transportation anywhere. Only on two occasions (going to water parks) was the wait 15 minutes, and on one occasion from Downtown Disney we waited 25 minutes. Wow I was very impressed

Noise levels is spoken about a lot on here. I closed the bathroom door at night, as the first night we heard a flush. That solved the problem. However, we had children running back and forth outside our door some mornings which woke us. It was slightly annoying but not a big issue and not enough to stop us staying there again.

On our last day, we got left behind a Pop Century Rubik's cube and a card. It was such a thrill for us.

I really do rate this hotel. It feels compact for getting around. The pool (50s) was never as crowded as I expected. Other guests seemed polite, opening doors for each other when people had trays etc. It had a lovely atmosphere.

I would say the only slight negative is that the smokers area has been situated right at the entrance to the Classic Hall - so you have to go through a mist of smoke at times in order to get into the food court or to go to the buses. It was never terribly bad, just puzzling as to why it had been placed there.

I highly recommend it.
